The sliding glass door to the double-balcony area provides views from the second floor across to the ocean and Kalama Beach park. One of the best beginner surfing spots called 'The Cove' is located right across the street with easy to rent surfboards, paddleboards, and diving gear from nearby shops. There's three separate air conditioners - in both bedrooms and in the living room.

The first floor of the complex has shops where you can rent a bike, grab a coffee, arrange for a massage or haircut, and plan some diving or snorkeling adventures. Maui Dreams Dive is a top rated dive shop that can help with any snorkel or dive gear needs.

The Island Surf building, in particular, is centrally located in the town of Kihei and close to great restaurants. Sushi and Thai food are two other restaurants styles in the area. Foodland, a 24-hour grocery store is in short walking distance. There is also a Starbucks located nearby. In Kalama park, you can enjoy beach volleyball, basketball, skateboarding, surfing and paddle boarding.

Excellent choice!

This condo is very accommodating. We didnt have to rent boogie boards. There is snorkeling gear, water shoes, and several other things needed for being outdoors. The location is great and within walking distance to shopping and eating. The bed was very comfortable and there are lots of extras! Thank you for making our stay a memorable one!

Beautiful updated unit conveniently located

We really enjoyed our stay in unit 215. All the amenities and the location is perfect. Roaches in this old building are common and we did experience nightly visits but expected that for a tropical island. We had some "bumps" at booking and upon arrival but those were our only hiccups. We would stay again but make sure we had clear communication prior to arrival to assure a stress free vacation!

Every thing you wished for in a vacation and then some!!

The 21 days in May 2017 we stayed here were wonderful, The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen was fully supplied with anything ever needed. The location could not have been better. Directly across the street was the Kalama Park, by far the largest and most active park in Kehei. The ocean front walks at the park were great. And a block down from the end of the park was the widest and longest beach in Kehei. (Anything that one would want at the beach was also supplied by the owner) With excellent restaurants and local shopping markets right out the door of the building the car stayed in the parking lot many days

Knowing bugs are numerous on the island I was happy to say that we had no bugs in our place the entire time.

The patio extension on the second floor was also very nice place to get a suntan, which we used daily for an hour or so. The pool was small but great to get a little exercise. The 2 gas grills that anyone could use was also nice for a quick evening dinner outside. (Bratwurst and warm German Potato salad hits the spot.) All in all we had a wonderful time

Well equipped condo in a central location

We stayed in this condo for 6 nights. The layout and feel of the condo was great with separation between the two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was spacious and well-equipped (especially the kitchen with good knives, plenty of utensils, cookware, and storage containers for leftovers). The lanai was HUGE but the view wasn't anything special unfortunately (just overlooking a side street with a peek at the ocean off on an angle). This condo definitely has more of an apartment complex type feel rather than a resort location with gardens, pools, etc. but we still enjoyed ourselves because the location in town was excellent. Very close to the beaches, Kihei cafe, and other restaurants. It was very easy to book and communication with the owner was quick (when we arrived the wi-fi code had been changed but not yet updated in our welcome email but they were quick to respond to this and let us know the new password when we contacted them). One suggestion would be to add an air conditioner unit to the master bedroom like the one that is in the other bedroom as the nights were very warm even with the ceiling fan on full. We would recommend this suite to anyone who anticipated cooking a fair bit for themselves as the kitchen facilities were awesome!

Lots of Pros and Cons

We stayed in this condo for 7 days with 2 adults and 2 children. We are familiar with Kihei and were glad to find a place close to the water. There were numerous pros and cons to this place. The first part of my review is of the building itself. The second part will address the condo. It is important to judge the condo separately from this building.


1. This is about as close to the beach you are going to get. The condo is across the street from a small park which goes along the waters.

2. The condo is also close to many eateries and market.

3. The first floor has businesses. One of these is Maui Dream Diver. They are very cool people.


1. The building is really old. There are different types of tenants here. Some are businesses. Some are rental condos where the owners are probably in the States and the place ran by a rental agency. Some have local tenants living in them.

2. Cockroaches. They are rampant on all of the islands so this is not a unique problem for this building.

3. The condo has a pool but it is really lame. It's small and very uninviting.

This next section pertains to the condo itself:


1. The condo was recently remodeled so it is nicely decorated and spacious. It has Wi-Fi and also has a nice balcony overlooking the beach at an angle.

2. The kitchen and appliances are also new. It has its own stand-up washer and dryer which is a godsend. We used it almost every day. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, cups, utensils, etc.

3. There were lots of towels for the beach. There were also boogie boards, fins and goggles, beach chairs and umbrella, which was very helpful.


1. We had problems with the AC Systems. After the first night, we were told that the wall unit was leaking water down to the next floor. Apparently, this is the second time so the owners were fined by the Association. Hence, we were not allowed to use both wall units in the living room and master bedroom. The property manager hastily installed a portable unit that was not as strong. This tiny unit had to cool down both rooms so we never really got cool which was a pain at night.

2. It was very difficult to open the sliding glass doors.

3. The location of the condo overlooks the street, which is very noisy. Starting early in the morning, you will hear large trucks and noisy cars and motorcycles passing by.

We would probably stay here again because of the nice amenities, especially if the AC issue was fixed

Think twice before booking this property!

Where do I start? This property was horrible!!From the pics it looks great. However, this place was infested & filthy! We couldnt even unpack because we were terrified that the roaches & other bugs would get into our things. We had to keep something on our feet because if not our feet would be black at the bottom from walking around the condo on the filthy floor that they dont clean because its black & they figure it looks clean because you cant see anything. When we cooked the bugs would come out & crawl all over our food & we would have to toss it. We contacted the condo manager who did the booking for us to be relocated. After we told her what the problem was she explained to us that "roaches were common & to be expected". If you know anything about roaches you know that they are only present where filth is! Then there were these little microscopic bugs that crawl all over the counter top & garbage can in the kitchen. If you don't have a good eye you will miss them. They are disgusting! So instead of the condo manager relocating us she decided to send someone to spray toxic bug spray while we are there and decided to no longer answer the phone after that. When we booked the place she encouraged us to book outside of VRBO to get a better price. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. VRBO is your protection against situations like this. The vents in the condo that distribute the air you breathe were clunked full of dirt & dust & had us all coughing & sneezing. We had to take them down & wash them ourselves. Splashed food was all on the kitchen walls from the previous renter! Towels are usually nice & white in a hotel like facility & they toss them when they are no longer white. NOT this place! Dingy white towels is what you will get! Im glad I brought my own & brought plenty of lysol to spray down the beds & other living spaces. We slept w/long pants on in bed.The beach was nice but dont go into the water w/o swim shoes. Very sharp rocks all over the bottom will cut your feet to pieces as it did my husband. The grocery stores are very expensive so be prepared for that as well. Prior to leaving please shake your things out well & wash them immediately in hot water when you get home. Looks are definitely deceiving on this property & I wouldnt encourage anyone to stay here. When you travel such a far distance for beauty, rest, & relaxation you want to do just that! You want to enjoy your time & not have 2 worry about such things as these that I have mentioned. PASS IT UP!
