* Neighborhood information:
The apartment is situated in the historical city center, more precisely in the Principe Real neighborhood. Presently it is one of Lisbon’s most expensive areas, not only for its centrality in relation to various points of town, but also for the great variety of cultural, commercial, and night experiences it offers. It’s a fancy part of town, surrounded by the most important and typical Lisbon neighborhoods: Castelo, Alfama, Baixa e Chiado.
This whole area is within a comfortable walking distance from the apartment. Fado houses, amazing sights, historical monuments, imperial plazas… are located close to the apartment.
With a very intense commercial life, restaurants, cafes, esplanades, supermarkets and ATMs are frequent. You are in the ideal neighborhood to get a feel for the city’s authentic character. You will feel like a local strolling through the streets of Lisbon.
Besides the obligatory visit to Saint George’s Castle, the city’s ex-libris, there are many more suggestions we can propose to you.
Visit the Principe Real gardens, within 3 minutes walking distance from the apartment, and relax in one of its recent remodeled kiosks. In the same street enjoy and visit a beautiful and emblematic pub, called the Pavilhão Chinês. It’s more than 100 years old, and is well-known for the numerous collections of intricate toys, from various epochs, which carefully decorate the many walls of its four large sitting-rooms. If you enjoy snooker, you can play a game in the last room while we invite you to experience one the various cocktails made in this place. Directly across the street, after working up an appetite, stop by Tapas – a Portuguese and Spanish finger food restaurant. As the night falls, and because the Portuguese climate permits, enjoy this apartment’s privileged location to stroll through the narrow streets of the characteristic Bairro Alto neighborhood – a privileged local night spot, where the night ‘happens’.
For the day, we suggest a visit to church Igreja de São Roque, 5 minutes from the apartment, to the Miradouro São Pedro de Alcantara (sightseeing point), with a superb view over the city, a visit to Rossio’s imperial plaza, only 7 minutes away, among other things…
Go to Terreiro do Paço plaza, 15 minutes on foot, the area most devastated by the famous 1955 earthquake, and feel what it is like to live in a city with the River at your feet…
If you enjoy large avenues, you have one right at your door… the Avª da Liberdade is one of the city’s largest avenue, where you will find restaurants, concert halls, movie theaters, and all the best international brands…
Similarly, Chiado, within 10 minutes from the apartment, is an area filled with up-and-coming commerce, traditional pastry shops, bookstores, where in few minutes you will feel the vibe of this dynamic European capital. Anything you need can be found here…
Welcome to Lisbon!
The emblematic Eléctrico 28’s (cable car 28) route passes by close to the apartment. The Baixa/Chiado Metro station is within 10 minutes on foot, connecting you to the whole city. Additionally, it is very easy to catch a cab on the street outside the apartment.
