The Phoenix is a lovely, Victorian-era estate home that is available for rent to groups of up to 23 people. The Phoenix is set on 45 acres of partially wooded land with walking trails and a stone labyrinth.

With views of the Hudson Highlands and less than a mile from the Hudson River, you will find a peaceful place to relax or to gather with family and friends in this rambling house.

On the ground floor, guests will find a large living room, library and meditation room for meetings as well as cozy corners where you can curl up with a book. A screened dining porch has additional seating for 16 people in warm weather.

The bedrooms are on the second and third floors and include four private bedrooms and seven bedrooms with from two-to-four beds each. Rooms are simply but attractively furnished with antique wood pieces and unusual vintage prints and art. All beds are single. Most rooms have views of woods, meadows, or the mountains and access a patio-sized balcony on each floor for star-gazing, nature-watching or quiet reflection. Four full bathrooms, with either a shower or a tub, and one half - bathroom on the first floor are shared.

The third floor also has a common space with seating and a view of the mountains.

Just 55 miles from New York City, the Phoenix is just minutes from the world-famous Storm King Art Center and a short drive to DIA Beacon, West Point Academy, and the Woodbury Commons Outlet Center.

The house is an easy walk to the center of the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson and its restaurants, a public park at the Hudson river, kayak and canoe rentals, and other amenities, including a twice-weekly farmers market.

Perfect Property for West Point Commissioning

  • 5 of 5

Located less than 20 minutes from West Point, this property was a home run for our guests and our family. It is spacious (very!) enough to accommodate many, and allows plenty of opportunity for folks to find a quiet spot to themselves when things get busy or hectic. The setting is gorgeous and peaceful, the home is a treasure, and the staff is perfect - accessible but completely unobtrusive.

The house has a professional kitchen and plenty of living spaces. The bedrooms are large and the bathrooms are accommodating. The home has a fascinating history and we all felt like it was an special experience to get to stay there. Our group especially enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and multiple decks for outdoor entertaining.

To a person, each guest raved about his stay. The home was warm, clean and inviting and the grounds were perfect for walks. It is very close to Cornwall on Hudson - close enough for a run (literally) to town for the athletes in the crowd. My 80 something parents absolutely adored the place.

Our host, Simonetta, was gracious and helpful, and a delight to meet and work with. We all wanted to stay another week!

The home was extremely roomy. Clean. The double staircases, endless rooms and interesting spaces made this home an amazing stay for a family reunion. The kids had a great time playing hide and seek in all its nooks and crannies. There were enough beds, chairs. The set up in the kitchen in the entire home was spectacular.

The people were pleasant to deal with, the grounds were beautiful.

Class Weekend gone right

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group stay for our 500th night weekend and we couldn't have asked for a better place. The kitchen and dining room were able to feed and sit a very large group and the owners were very accommodating. The only draw back was the single beds but it really was not a problem. The best part overall were out three hosts who made every effort to keep us comfortable and walked us through the house showing us every detail. I would absolutely recommend it and stay again if they would have us.

Excellent house for large groups

  • 4 of 5

Great relaxing house for a large group getaway. With 20+ single beds and 10+ bedrooms, our group of 15 had plenty of space to spread out, and the large dining room gave us a place to gather indoors. We spent most our time playing whiffle ball in the back yard and grilling - the ground have tons of room for getting out and having fun outside. There's also great golf nearby, and the Hudson Valley has great whiskey distilleries for anyone looking to visit those locations as well.

The staff at the grounds are also excellent - the caretaker was nice as could be and we never felt like we were intruding on their property even though they live in house on the grounds as well.

Breath taking !!!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as I stepped foot on this property , I knew this is what I was looking for. I rented this house for an intimate wedding in the fall and it lived up to all my expectations. The view is breath taking! First the property is amazing surrounded by the Storm King mountain in all its glorious fall colors. Then the house just takes you back in time and the staff was so accommodating.

It was perfect, we had relatives flying in from all over and we didn't have to book hotels for all of them. We had all of our friends and family there for the weekend ( so convenient) and a one day event turned into a magical weekend. I would absolutely recommend this home to a friend. We are planning to have our 5th anniversary there and invite everyone back.

If you are looking to get away from your busy life of phone calls, texts, emails and every other distracting device this is definitely the place you want. We left feeling renewed and centered. Thank you to all of the wonderful women who made this a wonderful experience.
