Bedrooms 1
Space 600 sq ft
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bath condo with easy slope access

Location, location, location! This summer retreat and winter ski condo provides easy access to all Girdwood has to offer. It's one of the best locations for ski access in Girdwood. Chair 3 is just above us - walk around the building to get to the lift. Take Chair 3 up and ski down to either the tram or Chair 4 to reach the rest of the mountain. Also just steps from The Sitzmark, Jack Sprat, the Bake Shop & La Bodega.

Newly remodeled one bedroom and one bath provide ample room for a family with a couple of small kids on the sofa sleeper. Indoor ski & boot storage, room for bikes on the deck. All dishes, kitchen equipment, linens and towels provided. We think the transformation is fantastic, so I left the before pics up too. We still have some loose ends and a few decor changes, but we'll continue updating as we can!

The $300 damage deposit will be refunded as soon as we have verified the parking pass has been returned and there is no damage. It usually posts back to guests credit card within 5-7 business days.

About Michelle

Danny spent a few bachelor years living here full time. Michelle tried to live in Girdwood, but couldn't handle the daily commute to Anchorage. It's been a ski locker/weekend get away since we bought a house in Anchorage in 2005. We still get out to Girdwood every chance we get, and if you aren't using the condo, chances are we will be. Check out Michelle's glass art & jewelry in the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts gallery next to The Bake Shop while you're out too!

Michelle purchased this condo in 2001

Why Michelle chose Girdwood

Girdwood is a laid back little ski town all year long. It's just far enough from Anchorage to get away from the hustle and bustle and has easy access to winter and summer activities. Downhill skiing at Alyeska is the biggest draw, but there are wonderful Nordic ski trails and lots of hiking & mountain biking opportunities too. Girdwood definitely has character. Walk to The Bake Shop, GCVA gallery, La Bodega for wine or to fill your growler, or Jack Sprat. Walk, bike or grab the shuttle to the hotel or downtown. Winter Creek Trail is a local favorite for waterfalls and a hand tram across the creek.

What makes this condo unique

Location, location, location. It's one of the best locations for ski access in Girdwood. Chair 3 is just above us & perfect access for families with kiddos (or beginners like Michelle). Take Chair 3 up and ski down to either the tram or Chair 4 to reach the rest of the mountain.

Clean, great location

  • 4 of 5

We had a relaxing stay at this condo. Excellent location for all seasons, but will be especially good for winter - chair lift just a short walk away. Close to Bake Shop and Jack Sprat. Very clean, nice furniture and was fully stocked with all amenities that we needed/wanted, including a nice TV with cable and DVD player, and wireless. The owner is very responsive and helpful. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is the location on the ground floor - you can occasionally hear the tenants walking back and forth upstairs. I would give it a 4 3/4 stars if I could, as this only detracted slightly from the overall experience.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. The building was built in the 1960's and the construction isn't ideal. We especially hear noise from the 2nd floor in the winter when it's busy and people are walking with ski boots on. It's annoying sometimes, but not a problem generally. Guests should always let us know if the person directly above us is noisy and preventing you from enjoying using our condo, because it's an Alyeska hotel employee unit, and we can contact hotel security to ask them to quiet down.

This is the first time I've ever used a rental property and it won't be the last

This condo was fantastic. Tastefully refurbished, awesome location, and turnkey amenities. Michelle was very prompt to respond to all emails when any questions arose. I will definitely stay at this location if I plan to stay in the area in the future.

Wonderful Owner -- Property Shows Pride of Ownership - Great Location

  • 5 of 5

***Wonderful Owner -- Property Shows Pride of Ownership - Great Location***

Normally, we stay at the Resort. This time, we wanted to get a "local" feel and have the option of preparing our own meals, so we booked this rental.

1.) The Owner -- Incredibly responsive, professional and darling. Michelle bent over backwards to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

2.) The Condition / Decor of Property -- Clean and modern with thoughtful touches throughout. > The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans, dishes, silverware, mugs, stemware, and all the accoutrements (coffee maker, mixer, butcher block knives, etc) one might have in their own home.

> The living room is comfortable and cosy with windows looking out to the small deck/entrance and trees.

> There's a good size TV for morning news, ambient music (provided on the upper stations) and evening movies curled up on the couch.

> The bedroom is a little den with nice lay out -- two bedside tables, adequate lighting and storage for clothes/belongings.

> The bathroom is bright and spotless. The towels are fluffy and there's enough room for two people to comfortably get ready for the day/night.

3.) The Location -- Walking distance to everything (Town Center, Mountain, Trails, Resort, Restaurants/Cafes/Bars.)

Due to the structural design, excessive movement and activity from upstairs can be heard from this property. This was not really an issue the first night, but the second night, it began to escalate and impede on Husband's sleep. . . But(!), the owner was immediately responsive and the noise situation was quickly handled and resolved. :)

Perfect location and darling little condo!

  • 4 of 5

You can't ask for a better location! The amenities are spot on and the condo is wonderful. Everything one would need to make themselves at home. A quick drive to all the attractions, walking distance to some of the best places to dine. Girdwood has grown, but is still a charming small ski village. I loved our time at this condo with the exception of the noise from upstairs. Their work/or? schedule brings them home at 1am and the noise is rough - they aren't excessive, but it sounds like they are in your unit. If there was anyway to better insulate... this would be the PERFECT place. And as it is, it's pretty darn good! Many thanks!

Great location and very nice, clean property

  • 4 of 5

We had a very fun stay here from July 2-6. There were 3 of us in the condo and it fit us well. It was extremely clean, with great towels, comfy beds, a wonderful kitchen, excellent wifi, and owners who were very easy to reach. The 4/5 star review comes for 2 reasons -1. There are not blackout curtains in the one window in this condo, and as it is right next to the pullout bed/ 2nd bed - it was an issue for our daughter and made sleep a bit more difficult. 2. The walls are very thin - the upstairs neighbors seemed to STOMP whenever they walked around, and were constantly slamming their slider door. We were gone during the day but it kept us up at night, woke us early, and was an overall annoyance when we were there. Totally something that can't be controlled by the owners, I understand, just an unfortunate side effect of a condo stay.

Overall a wonderful experience and a great value in a top notch location!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! We will never get black out curtains since Alaskans need every bit of sun we can get! It's probably a good idea for visitors to bring sleeping mask to Alaska if the midnight sun is a problem for you. As far as the noise from upstairs goes, we had a talk with the hotel HR department after your stay. The condo directly above is owned by Alyeska and used for employee housing. If they are making enough noise up there to keep you from enjoying use of our condo, we can call hotel security and they will ask them to quiet down. It is generally a noisy building - in winter especially with people coming in and out in ski boots - but we enjoy our time there and now that we can contact security, noise from directly upstairs is not as much of a problem!
