Read all the way through..... for an honest opinion
it was a very lovely cabin for a anniversary week get away for my husband and I. I have a few plus and complaints. The only complaints that i have is 1. The shower curtain was very nasty and def should of been changed a while ago. It had mold and a lot of soap scum on it and some hair 2. The grill racks were rusty and we had to go buy something to put on rack to cook our meal on. 3. I know the sign said not to go jn any earlier than 4 but we got there around 3, so i messaged/text the property manager to see if we can go in 1 hour early but never received a response; would of been totally cool if the answer was no just hated not getting a response. The plus i had for the cabin was 1. It had roko so you could sign into your own hulu and netflix which was awesome 2. The kitchen literallh had everything you needed and i loved the decor 3. The bed was comfortable and pillows were comfortable 4. Everything was very clean and well put together. I would def consider staying again.
The Cove was such a cozy cabin and hidden away from neighbors (which was something I was looking for). My spouse and I loved it!
We were there during the Covid19, so many things were closed and we didn't even mind because we were happy for the social distance. Beautiful cabin, great setting...like sitting in a tree house.
This was our second time too book this property. Such a great place! Plan to be back many times.
Great, secure and comfortable place for a vacation.
Everything was very easy. The reservation, check-in, and check out. We will be back.
Townsend, Tennessee is a gateway community to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Visitors to Townsend enjoy the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. Townsend is rich in wild life - most visitors come with hope of seeing the ever popular Black Bear that inhabit the Park and surrounding areas. 'The Cove' is nestled into the woods and is extremely private. Surrounded by huge, moss-covered boulders, this is a setting like no other. You'll feel you have stepped into the Park and you can anticipate the possibility of a critter sighting. There is an abundance of wildlife, including bear, deer, wild turkey, hawks and owls - just to name a few. You can spend your days watching critters at the cabin, or in Cades Cove. You can hike the trails, ride your bike, take photographs, fly fish or tube down the Little River. There are several tubing providers on the river. Most outfitters will hook you up with a tube and river access. You can float down the river for an hour of so. They will pick you up and bus you back to the starting point, only to do it all again. What a way to cool off on hot summer days!
If you ride a motorcycle, Townsend is the BOMB! There are dozens of day-rides from Townsend. One of our favorites is to leave Townsend and travel through the Park to Gatlinburg. Take a right at Sugarlands Visitors Center and you can ride to Cherokee, North Carolina in just an hour or so. Enjoy lunch and head back...time to burn. Don't forget to stop at Newfound Gap and Clingman's Dome. DON'T leave without your camera!
The Foothills Parkway is closer to home. Only a couple of miles from Townsend, this ride takes you across the ridge of the mountain with spectacular overlooks, to Chilhowee Lake. At the end of the Parkway, take a left and you're on the Tail of the Dragon --- 318 curves in 11 miles --- not for the faint of heart. If you're not up to that, take a right and visit the Highway 129 Harley shop. A longer ride will take you to Tellico Plains for lunch at the Tellico Plains Bakery, a great place to enjoy a meal before heading back to Townsend or across the Cherohala Skyway. I could spend hours talking about this; so just ask when you call. We may go with you.
'The Cove' is motorcycle friendly, with easy access and paved all the way.
A short, 30-minute ride from Townsend will land you in Pigeon Forge. A great place to visit but NOT the quiet side by any stretch of imagination. It's the center for entertainment and shopping in the Smokies. Home to the Tanger Outlets, countless restaurants and entertainment spots and the ever popular Dollywood.
Come join us in Townsend! On the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. We look forward to hearing from you.
About Cyndie Cornelius
Our first trip to Townsend was a fly fishing adventure. Until then, my only Smokies adventure had been Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Townsend proved to be an oasis in the mountains. The setting is serene and peaceful, and without the trappings of the more recognized areas. Trout weren't the only things hooked that weekend --- we were, as well. Just one year later, we arrived in Townsend. It took a year to make it happen; but we were determined to make the Smokies our home. We surely cannot imagine living anywhere else. Waking every morning to the sunrise over the mountains and the sights and sounds of the birds and other wildlife is an unbelievable experience. We have, in the years after our arrival, started a real estate firm. It has been our goal to educate others about the wonders of living in this beautiful place and, if the fit is right, to help them with their goal to move here permanently or to find the perfect getaway home in the Smokies.
Cyndie Cornelius purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Cyndie Cornelius chose Townsend
We had purchased 'Smoke Rise' in 2013 and had a ball redecorating, painting, furnishing and finding just the right things to make it the warmest and most inviting cabin anywhere around. We apparently accomplished our goal, as 'Smoke Rise' became incredibly successful. We really didn't want another cabin. We thought one was enough. But there was one other in the area that we thought that if it ever came on the market, we would consider buying it because of its uniquely beautiful setting. The huge moss-covered limestone rock outcroppings were so unusual and the acre and a half lot provided privacy and room to roam. And 'Smoke Rise' was renting so well that we were having to turn people away. Unbelievably, it did come up for sale and we couldn't resist. Structurally, they are identical, and we have decorated The Cove' very similarly to 'Smoke Rise'. We go back and forth as to which is our favorite. They are similar; but each has its own distinct personality. Later we added another beautiful cabin, Wildwood and thought that would be the last.....until 2017 When Rocky Hollow appeared on the radar! Now we own 4 and hope you will consider these your choices for your getaway in the Smokies!
What makes this Cabin unique
It is our mission to maintain our cabins in a manner that will never disappoint. We are VERY local owners and we keep a watchful eye over our retreats. Each property was chosen for the unique and peaceful surroundings they offer. We want you to consider 'Smoke Rise' , 'The Cove' Wildwood and Rocky Hollow, your first choices for your get away in the Great Smoky Mountains.
