Upper floor of 2 boathouses on a large quiet bay on north end of Lake Joseph
Just 2 hours north of Toronto on the north end of beautiful Lake Joseph on a large lakefront lot in a beautiful quiet bay. The 2 bedroom 1 bathroom boathouse (sleeps 4 adults) and the smaller 1 bedroom 1 bathroom boathouse (sleeps 2 more). There is also a twin bunk bed in one bedroom of the large boathouse suitable for children only as the beds are very small. Together, both boathouses sleep up to 6 adults and/or 2 children. The large boathouse has full kitchen/ dining/living room, HD satellite TV with PVR and DVD. The large second floor deck has a dining/lounging area with BBQ and stunning east, north and west views. The large lake level dock provides generous areas for sunning/lounging and swimming with lounge chairs, couch, table and chairs. All accommodation is on the 2d floors of each boathouse. Shallow and deep water is ideal for swimming. There is a floating raft and a separate swim dock with a dive tower (which is shared with the owner and their guests). There is an indoor boat slip in the large boathouse which can accommodate a boat up to 26 feet long. The small boathouse has a second floor bedroom with an ensuite 3 piece bathroom. The lake is all around you providing for full sun exposure from sun up to sun down. We provide access to a canoe, two or more one man kayaks and two stand up paddleboards (shared with the owners and their guests). The owners keep two boats in the small boathouse which they access without entering the living space of the small boathouse.
You can rent a speedboat from nearby Gordon Bay marina. (You need to have a boating licence to rent a boat - which you can get online.) We are just off Hwy 69 10 minutes north of the turnoff for Hwy 169 and MacTier and 20 minutes south of Parry Sound. This is a great spot for walking, hiking, running and cycling with quiet, scenic roads. If you are a golfer and have a ClubLink membership, Rocky Crest resort and golf course is a five minute boat ride or a 10 minute drive away. There are many other public golf courses nearby.

About Jane Ferguson
We are a Toronto family enjoying our 22d summer at the Lake. We have many wonderful summer memories at the Lake with our two boys, now 24 & 26 and many family and friends. It's a great place to relax and spend time with loved ones. We spend time in the summer at the main cottage which is on the main part of Lake Joseph on the same property (which is @ 35 acres and over 2,000 feet of lakefront) which is not visible from the boathouses (nor can we see the boathouses from the main cottage)
Jane Ferguson purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Jane Ferguson chose Seguin
This property has a fabulous location, and is relatively flat so access to the lake is easy (no steps to negotiate - walk out the door and into the lake!) The north end of Lake Joseph is far less crowded than the south end of the big lakes as lots are much larger and density is much lower. A beautiful heron visits our bay regularly. A barred owl, pileated woodpecker, hummingbirds can all be seen on the property. Deer and sometimes even bears are seen on the property. A mink scurries around and a wood duck and her babies arrive every spring.
What makes this Cottage unique
Water, woods and natural beauty all around you amid all the amenities of home.

Wonderful stay in Lake Joseph!
My husband and I have been renting this boat house cottage and sleeping cabin combo for the past 2 years to end our summer holidays. This Muskoka paradise is very comfortable, with all utilities such as Wi-Fi, cable TV, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and a well equipped kitchen. The charming boat houses are also nicely decorated with colorful, cottagey furniture and accessories. The bedrooms are fresh and buccolics! The perfect location make it ideal for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, or just admiring the stars over Lake Joseph.
So glad you had a great stay!
A great vacation spot on a quiet cove on Lake Joe. The owners are very helpful and offered use of wet suits, like jackets, and a small power boat. There were 4 kayaks, 2 paddle boards and a paddle boat for our use - perfect for our family of 5 with young teenage kids. We were there in August and had 75 degree temps and water temps that were perfect for swimming. The owners make the experience easy and enjoyable. The houses are very nice, clean and updated.
So glad you had a great time!
we go a bit before the season is in full swing. the cove is peaceful and a place we love. the home has everything we need. we hope to be returning guests
Beautiful spot! Comfortable and cozy
My husband and I had a lovely time staying in the large boat house. It was well equipped and quite comfortable. Fabulous views from every window and especially the large deck off the back. Good central Muskoka location. We had a minor issue with the cleaning from the last guest not being completed when we arrived, but our hosts did a great job at trying to correct this asap. Would recommend to others!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
A Fantastic place
We are travellers from Australia who were visiting friends and relatives in Ontario. We stayed here for 5 nights over the May 2 4 weekend. It is a truly beautiful cottage. We had 5 adults and 3 children and the cabin (s) easily met our needs. the view is spectacular and the boathouses (you get 2) are comfortable and very well equipped. You have the use of a myriad of water equipment including, kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards. Life jackets are also supplied for the safety minded. The diving tower was a big hit for the young and the young at heart.
The boathouses are on a point and you have exclusive access to this entire area. the owners have a cottage on the ridge behind you but you feel as if you have the entire area to yourself. It doesn't matter if the owners are staying. We had the pleasure of meeting them and their hospitality matched the beauty of the lake.
It is a 20 minute drive to Mactier for supplies and there is a marina 5 minutes away if you would like to hire a boat etc (definitely book early as they get very busy)
The boathouses are magnificent but they pale in comparison to the lake and the bay. You are in a quiet bay off of the main lake. The water is crystal clear and weed free (although a little cold when we were there). If there was an option to give 6 stars I would.
We always enjoy sharing the beauty of Muskoka with our guests. So glad you enjoyed your stay!
A little piece of paradise just 2 hours north of Toronto on a large lake level property on the calm and beautiful north end of Lake Joseph. Property consists of a 2 bedroom 1 bath boathouse (sleeps 6) with full kitchen, dining and living room with walkout to large second floor deck with second dining/lounging area and a large lake level deck area. Both decks enjoy sun all day. The lake is under and all around you. You have the option to rent a second one bedroom one bath boathouse (sleeps 2) on the same bay a short walk through the woods away, both overlooking a quiet bay off Hamer Bay. There is a floating swim platform and a separate swim dock with a jumping tower. Relax and swim, canoe, kayak or paddle board in the bay or out in the open water. Power boat rentals available from Gordon Bay Marina, a 5 minute drive and a 5-10 minute boat ride away. A ten minute drive south takes you into MacTier for groceries, a beer and liquor store and a hardware store. Parry Sound is an easy 20 minute drive north and has every amenity. Port Carling is a 30 minute drive south on 69 and east on Hwy 169 for shops, restaurants and antiques.
