About the Property
3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6
This completely furnished cabin has been in our family for over 50 years. It is located on a scenic peninsula, Sunset Point, on Sugar Lake. Water is visible from both sides of the cabin which faces west and features beautiful sunsets. Some elevation (with steps down to the lake and dock) provides cool breezes, and a spacious three-season porch gives you great, protected views of the lake.
If you like to fish, Sugar Lake is well stocked with bluegill, large mouth bass, muskie, northern and Wall-eye pike. If you like to swim, the water is clear and the lake bottom is firm in front of the cabin. There is a dock and 12 ft. aluminum rowboat provided and pontoon boats/ jet-skis can be rented nearby.
The interior of the cabin is all knotty-pine, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook that fish you catch. A charcoal grill and portable firepit are also available outside.

Prospective renters must note that I have holding tanks (2000 + gallons) as a septic system. Every drop of water used goes into these tanks. Therefore I appreciate judicious use of water. When the tank is nearly full, an alarm goes off in the basement and a button on the ceiling rafter must be pushed to stop it. Then contact me and I will call the pumper to come pump. There are about 65 gallons remaining when this alarm goes off.
I just want everyone to know about this so that there are no surprises!

There is a wonderful 'swap meet' every Saturday near Annandale with food, antiques, etc. There's also a farmer's market Saturday AM in the center of Annandale. Minneapolis is only an hour away with the Guthrie Theater, the Walker Art Museum, great restaurants and many lakes within the city.
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: I am an artist/potter living in North Carolina. I grew up in Minneapolis and this was the beloved family lake cabin where our family spent many happy summers. I now live in Asheville, North Carolina and my partner Steve and I come to the cabin every summer. My son, Hayden, a glassblower also lives in Asheville and loves the cabin. We hope you do too.
Why the Owner Chose Maple Lake, MN, USA:
I suppose I hold onto this inherited family cabin (built in 1955) for sentimental reasons and also because the lake is so beautiful, clean and well maintained. We also love the neighbors, most of whom live at the lake year round and some of whom are second generation owners like myself.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The cabin is rustic, kind of like the good old days of cabin living....a peaceful retreat from modern life....If you are looking for dishwasher, internet, cable tv., etc., this is not the place for you. If you want to watch the sun set, hear the loons, fish and play in the water, you can do this here! The cabin is also such an easy drive on Interstate 94 from Minneapolis, my favorite city, home of the Walker Art Center, the Guthrie Theater, lakes, beaches, shopping, bike paths, culture and nature. And nearby Annandale is a quaint village on a lake with fun antique stores, a great coffee house, a brand new bistro/restaurant and regular free celebrations on the lake.
