About Catherine Bailey

catherine bailey - owner/creative director Heath ceramics (just up the road from our property). We are a busy family of 3 people one Newfoundland dog and one cat. We travel for our work frequently and are often away on weekends. Thus the cottage is often exceptionally quite.

Catherine Bailey purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Catherine Bailey chose San Francisco Bay Area

The view and location! You can walk to the water and to town, and drive to San Francisco or the ocean in 10 minutes. Our weather is also beautiful, less wind and fog than in downtown Sausalito.

What makes this cottage unique

Lots of character and history at this property combined with a quite residential location, with easy access to so much nature and culture.

Cottage full of charm in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our month stay in this cottage was a wonderful experience! It's only a short walk to many restaurants, shops and a great little beach. Various trails and wilderness areas are only a brief drive from the property. The ferry to San Francisco is nearby and once you arrive at the terminal in the city you have access to wide area via the BART subway system and other public transportation.

The cottage has a wonderful vintage feel and is very tastefully furnished and well equipped. The beautiful unobstructed view of the bay from both the living room and the outside patio is one of the highlights and never gets old.

We highly recommend this property!

The cottage is well appointed and charming within walking distance to the village of Sausalito and restaurants, and a short drive into the city of SF and all of Marin and points north.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Location -location - location is the best way to describe our stay. Although we rented a car it sat for several days as we walked to restaurants, shops and the docks of Sausalito. I even ventured on several walks to the GG bridge. Public transportation provided our link into San Fransisco. As for our hosts, Cathy and her family were very gracious and still distant enough to allow for our privacy. The size and accommodations were ideal and the views were way beyond expectations. We look forward to a return visit.

Quiet, relaxing, refreshing cottage

  • 5 of 5

If you are searching and comparing sites and locations for a relaxing, comfortable stay in Sausalito - your search is over. This quaint, well kept cottage will met all your needs in a home away from home. Really, put away your spread sheet and tear up your notes because the chore is over - pack your bags - lightly as most all essentials are waiting for you. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops out door activities and shops are well within walking distance. The views of Richardson Bay are calming and a treat any time of the day. There is plenty of on street parking is available in this wonderful residential neighborhood. The owners have provided a drawer full of maps, restaurant menus and items of historic and entertaining interest. I would recommend getting a BayAreaFastrak for your vehicle. There are no "cash" toll booths on the Golden Gate Bridge (GGB) and it'll save you some time and money with the quick trips to San Francisco. There are plenty of trails (Sausalito - Mill Valley, for example) for unlimited biking and running in addition to a scenic route from Sausalito through Fort Baker and across the GGB or the Marin Headlands. Once you have enjoyed the peace and relaxing atmosphere of the cottage, you'll be back. We can speak from experience.
