This spacious three-room apartment is located directly on Lanes Cove in Lanesville (Gloucester) with spectacular ocean views from every room and is literally steps to the waters edge. It has a private entrance, full kitchen, living room, bedroom with queen bed, off-street parking, private patio and yard. Sorry, we only rent for two occupants.
On the Cove was recently used as a movie set. You can search for "Katie Fforde: Herzenssache" to find the movie online. The property was used extensively, as well as surrounding landmarks such as the Fish Shack and along the rocky coast. Also, you can find our webcam by searching "On the Cove" to check out what's going on and the current weather.
When you stay, you will enjoy the intimacy of the cove as well as the views of Crane Beach and Plum Island across Ipswich Bay. This area is famous for phenomenal sunsets (National Geographic has called it one of the ten best in the world). Lanes Cove is a favorite spot for artists and kayakers alike.
Lanesville is one of the quaint villages encircling Cape Ann and is conveniently located about 10 minutes from either downtown Gloucester or Rockport. You can swim in the cove or take a short walk to Plum Cove beach. Halibut Point State Park and Dogtown Common are only a mile away.
Gloucester is only an hour by train or car from Boston and is one of New England's best-kept summer vacation secrets. From earliest settlers in 1623 to today's Hollywood film-makers, the beauty of Cape Ann has drawn people from around the world. Recently made famous in the movie "The Perfect Storm", Gloucester has a rich maritime history and is the oldest working seaport and active artist colony in the United States. Gloucester's historic fishing port, Rockport's famous art galleries, the unique antique shops of Essex, and the old, New England charm of Manchester-by-the-Sea, make Cape Ann the perfect vacation destination.
The apartment is strictly no smoking.

About Stan Stone
I grew up in Florida and came to Boston to attend college. My first job was in Gloucester, and my wife and I have lived on the North Shore pretty much ever since. Sandy grew up in Magnolia, another of the villages in Gloucester, so Lanesville was a good place to eventually settle. Lanesville has it own distinct character--quirky, artistic and rooted in people who understand the special place they live in. We travel extensively and try to bring some of the culture of places we've visited back to enhance the experience for our guests.
Stan Stone purchased this Apartment in 2004
Why Stan Stone chose Gloucester
We built this house in 2004, with the apartment as part of the design. We knew that guests would enjoy the privacy, but really enjoy the location. Over time, the grounds have been professionally landscaped and features added. Our goal is provide our guests with best experience on Cape Ann. Our guests who've returned year after year spend less and less time away from the apartment, because it is such a pleasant place to be.

Absolutely perfect stay! Lovely, relaxing, warm and welcoming stay. Three day stay to attend a nearby 95th birthday celebration for my beautiful aunt. So glad to have been able to stay a few days in Gloucester and especially glad to have found On-the-Cove. Lovely home to read and relax and Rockport is not far to travel to for a shopping trip. A perfect and lovely visit!
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and for the kind words. Hopefully we'll see you again, On the Cove.
A lovely brief anniversary getaway
My husband and I were so fortunate to be able to spend a long weekend for our wedding anniversary at On the Cove in between two big New England snow storms. Stan was so accommodating and communicative throughout — he kept me informed about the condition of the coast and the property in advance of our trip, and when our flight had to be rescheduled, Stan was very accommodating about the dates that we ended up being able to stay.
The apartment was very cute, clean, and private, with a lovely view of the water. When we arrived, bathrobes were left in the bedroom for us, as well as some chocolate and two (!) bottles of wine. (We ended up only being able to finish one!) We unfortunately didn’t have a chance to meet the owners’ resident kitty while staying there (we would have enjoyed hanging out with him), but it was still a great little trip, close to so many coastal landmarks that we drove around visiting.
Stan was very friendly and gave us suggestions on places to buy food and eat. The WiFi and TV amenities (many channels!) were wonderful, as well as the amount of kitchenware for cooking and serving. Everything was neat and well-stocked.
We hope to visit again another time, most likely when it’s warmer and the town is a bit more lively. Any time of year, though, we definitely recommend staying at this charming little apartment/suite right on the water. There’s something for everyone!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. The best thing about renting out our apartment is we get to meet such lovely people and we get to share our special spot with them. Our philosophy in operating On the Cove is what would we want in renting a place to stay.
We're so happy we could be a little part of your first anniversary, and we hope you return for many more. --Stan & Sandy, On the Cove

A little piece of heaven on earth!
On the Cove was exactly what we wanted and so much more! Any and every luxury has been thoughtfully provided in this little gem. We loved sitting out in the chairs and watching the activity of the cove. Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer!
We're so happy you enjoyed your stay. We love sharing our little secret On the Cove. We hope you find the time to return in the near future.
