1970's Cabin for sure!

  • 4 of 5

This place is huge and very comfortable. The younger people in our group loved the bunk house games and the talking deer on the wall. We even played horseshoes. The house is supplied with everything you would need in the kitchen and there are plenty of linens. Even though there is no AC and the daytime highs were in the 90's, it did cool off and it wasn't hard to sleep! There are a few fans there that really help. The view is breathtaking and the area is quiet and well kept.

Most older places have some issues. I think this place has everything original from the time it was built! I loved the decor, especially the sliced rock serving tray and the rocks around the house. It seems deterioration under the house has probably left many places for mice to get in though. Regardless, it should be expected in older places and because of the terrain there. But, I was surprised!

I wanted to let everyone know that we woke up to noticeable mouse visits in the kitchen. Make sure to bring bins to store your dry food and they won't be around anymore. We had to run in to town to get some but no worries, Bi Mart has everything! Don't let this deter you, its in the country! And there were lizards crawling all over the rocks outside and bats at night too. They keep the bugs away! We brought a small hummingbird feeder so we saw those at the window and some beautiful warblers chirping away in the trees by the back porch. And crickets at night!

Honestly, overall the place was fabulous for what it is and for the price. If we ever need a house for a large number of people again, I would rent this place in a heart beat. Course, I might be refused because I let you all know about the mice. But, if we would have been left a note saying that there was a mouse issue and provided bins for our food, I wouldn't have said a word.

Happy HomeAway to you all!

Tidy but very hot

  • 1 of 5

The house does NOT cool off in the evening during summer time, plan to sleep in a tent on the deck or in the bunk beds in the bunk house where it's slightly cooler. Kitchen was not supplied well at all, did not have a frying pan or cup measure. House was clean, although a mouse got into our food. Internet service is painfully slow. Convenient location to drive to and from the reservoir.

Great Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Christin was very accommodating with our family, we were having a mini-reunion and it was wonderful for all of us to be together. The house was nice but not too nice where we couldn't relax, we were all very comfortable. It has a great view of the lake from the back of the house and the deck; we had meals and morning coffee sitting around talking enjoying the view. We were able to park our truck and boat trailer below the house, and a couple cars, and one in the front.

Thank you! Tom & Tye

Nice Lake Vacation

  • 3 of 5

I have been coming to Prineville Reservoir my whole life. I love the lake and the surrounding land. The house we rented was a first for us.

Pros - Fully outfitted kitchen, WiFi, DirecTV, large outdoor deck with table and chairs, bunk house with game room and its own TV, outdoor gas grill, the whole property was clean and well maintained, the price was right.

Cons - No air conditioning (got unbearably hot), shower/bath situation was iffy; one of the bathtubs/showers is made of thin fiberglass with hardly any support underneath it. It is dangerously flexible when standing on it. One could slip on it, or maybe even go right through it into the subfloor. It's that flexible. The other shower was pretty small and was difficult to move in, and the drain was very slow making it so that by the time one is done with their shower the shower floor is so full of water it's almost flowing over onto the floor of the bathroom. It has an oversized bathtub that isn't really useable. The faucet to fill it is the size of a bathroom sink faucet, and the water pressure at the house is very low. Combine that with a drain stopper that doesn't really work and taking a bath in that tub is not possible.

Conclusion - This house is a double-wide mobile home. We happened to be there on the hottest days of the summer up to that point (mid to high 90's) and the house having no type of air conditioning made sleeping at night a bit problematic. Preparing and eating meals was not a problem at all; the cooking/eating facilities are FULLY outfitted. For a rental house just up the hill from the lake and swimming, boating, fishing, etc. the price is really a value.

Charming home had everything we needed (no a/c, but lots of fans), unique property with amazing views. Internet went out briefly and Cristin was very responsive and helped us fix it quickly. Looking forward to next year!
