Our family has owned property here in Port Ontario/Pulaski, New York for many decades. Our home right here on the Salmon River has been in our family for many, many years, and after a complete top-to-bottom renovation, we will be able to enjoy the Salmon River and Lake Ontario for many more generations. We sincerely hope that you and your family and friends will want to share in our enjoyment of this very special place.
It has always been, and will always be, one of the most special vacation destinations for our family and our extended family. It offers the serenity of spectacular sunrises over the Salmon River, the peaceful aura of a lazy river on many days, and the exciting Salmon Run activity from August to early November. The Lake Ontario shoreline is a 3 minute walk away and with its ever-changing wind, sun, weather conditions, no two days gazing across the Lake to the west are ever the same. And the sunsets?? Well they too, like the Salmon, Steelhead, Lake and Brown Trout fishing, are world-renowned.
Directly on the shore of the Salmon River, front door, reserved parking, roomy and comfortable home with a river's-edge deck for fishing or lounging, a 3-minute walk to the sandy shore of Lake Ontario. Several seasoned Lake and River Fishing Charter Boat Captains, boat, kayak, canoe, boat slip and boat launch rentals are all within a 10-minute drive to the Salmon River Lighthouse & Marina, which our family also owns and operates. What more could a vacationing family or a group of eager fishermen need or want??
This was our first experience with HomeAway . The house was beautiful , clean , uncluttered and wonderful. I heard back from the owner Abe Willis within an hour of my initial inquiry. He was so helpful and kind on the the phone . He called , was very detailed about the directions and recommendations about what to do . The house is in the lake with a beautiful deck . The backyard has the cutest little cottage . It is a 3 min walk to the beach . Quiet , beautiful neighborhood. The neighbors were very nice . Laying on the beautiful deck at night on a blanket , I have never seen so many stars .
Can you tell we had an awesome experience😂😂. We were only there for a couple of days . Lucked out with the gorgeous weather .
Thank you again Abe for letting us stay in your beautiful house .
I stayed in this home for 8 days with my 4-year old daughter (and several of her cousins some nights). It is sparkling clean, with a very nicely updated interior (kitchen, two full baths, living area, bedrooms). The windows are floor to [high] ceiling on both levels offering amazing views of the sun and moon over the water. No need for an alarm clock - the sunshine will wake you right on time around 7:00 - it was very relaxing. The outdoor area is nice as well with your own dedicated waterfront deck/patio (and three comfy chairs), a rear deck leading to separate 2-bed cottage (which I didn't use), and grilling area. There is one parking spot allocated for you right outside the home so you don't have to worry about parking. And the beach is just a few minute walk from the property which we went to frequently. The property manager is related to the owner and manages several family properties in the area so he is very knowledgeable about things to do and was responsive to all of my questions. If you ask nicely, I'm told he will even give you a tour of the lighthouse. :)
This property is within a 30-minute drive to the beautiful Salmon River Falls and about an hour from the southern end of the 1000 Islands Region. Also an easy day trip from the popular Old Forge vacation destination area, there are plenty of extras to explore during your stay right on the shore of the beautiful and peaceful Salmon River.
