House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)
Hi, I am Mark. I love to travel just like you probably do. I feel so lucky and blessed to own this beautiful home and even luckier to get to share it with you. I am involved in real estate (own and rent long and short term rentals) and my main role is as a handy man. Its a good thing that I am so handy and love to fix things and paint! My favorite thing is getting to stay at the cabin after some guests have left and reading all the kind, and amazing comments left in the guest book. It feels really good to know that I have brought a little joy and happiness to others!!
Mark purchased this House in 2008
Why Mark chose Dawsonville
Big Canoe really is such a beautiful place. Its the perfect combination of privacy and nature, but at the same time you won't feel like you are in the middle of the woods all alone. There is so much to do from fishing, swimming, canoeing, golfing, and my two favorites..hiking and eating out.
What makes this House unique
What really made me fall in love with Stargazer Lodge was the amazing Great Room and Kitchen! I love fixing dinner, while looking out over our great room. What really puts this room over the top for me is the amazing bay windows and view of the North Georgia Mountains! Sitting on our back deck eating dinner, really makes me appreciate the calm and serenity of the Mountains. The view during the day is amazing, and I love sitting with my friends and family around this table. If it's getting too sunny, we'll often move to our screened porch for cushioned seating, where you can still have a great view of the Mountains. At night, the views of the stars are amazing. I love opening the hot tub, and looking up at the stars while taking a nice relaxing dip. My friends and I love going upstairs to the den for movie night. We love cinema, and keep a ton of DVD's at our homes. We even started showing Netflix due to popular demand, and it's great too! We have a really comfortable sectional sofa that everyone relaxes on, and it really makes a nice touch to a wonderful day hiking, canoeing, and swimming.

Our family stay at the "Stargazer Lodge" could only be described as absolutely perfect. My two college boys and I decided to head on vacation while they were on summer break and my husband was away on business. We decided to head to Big Canoe for a week as a last minute vacation and were scrambling to find a rental 24 hours before we planned to leave. After narrowing it down to three properties, we chose the Stargazer Lodge after talking with Mark the owner. He was so extremely pleasant and helpful in every way. He responded to all of our our emails immediately and was very helpful and prompt in all aspects of our communication. Once we arrived at Big Canoe we made our way to the house. What a house! The pictures really don't do it justice. It was everything as described and more. Everyone just loved having their own king sized bed and private bathroom in each bedroom. The beds were so comfortable as well! The house is fully stocked with everything you could ever need. We had originally planned on eating out for all of our meals, but after seeing the dreary weather forecast for the week, decided to head to the local grocery store and stock up. We ended up having beautiful weather during our trip and lots of cooked meals at the house. It had absolutely everything that we could have needed. Overall, I'm glad we stayed in instead. We enjoyed our time together in a more relaxed atmosphere and truly enjoyed the house and all it had to offer. The unfinished basement was so much fun with the pool table, ping pong table and foosball table. The upstairs had a tv room with over 300 DVD's and board games. We spent so many hours just relaxing and playing Monopoly and Battleship and watching movies. The outside was so nice with the hot tub and different patio areas. I know my sons both enjoyed the stay as much as I did because they said that they would both love to return to Big Canoe and once again stay in the Stargazer Lodge. Not only is the house incredible, but the community is just breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking, kayaking and eating at the country club and Duffers Grill onsite. There was also a crawfish boil going on while we were there and we signed up for that as well. It was so much fun! We met several people and enjoyed great seafood and live music our last day there. Overall we had an amazing time and can't wait to return to Big Canoe and especially the Stargazer Lodge with our whole family!
Great peaceful spot in the mountains
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Stargazer Lodge. Nestled in the mountains within the gated Big Canoe community is this well-maintained and immaculately clean gem. The accommodations were excellent especially the well-stocked kitchen, brand-new washer and dyer and jacuzzi tub outside. Having a King bed in every room is a major plus if traveling with multiple families. Additionally, the second living space upstairs provides nice privacy. Enjoy the Big Canoe amenities on a reasonable pay-as-you-go basis including the fitness club, indoor and outdoor pools, clubhouse restaurant and golf. We would not hesitate to book again next time we visit.
Very Nice Mountain Home - Great Host!
All I can say is that you will not be disappointed in this mountain home. Mark is a great host who cares about the needs of his guests and does everything possible to help out. He even provided a great restaurant recommendation. I love the drive up these windy mountain roads, it really gives the feeling of being on the mountain. We saw some deer down by the driveway and it was great! Everyone was friendly and always willing to help.
We all enjoyed the hot tub on some of those chilly evenings. It made it hard to want to get out of it.
The Pinball machine was fun. In fact, it was so much fun we filled it up with quarters. lol
Mark, thank you so much for an excellent stay and I will be looking forward to making plans again, hopefully in the near future. BTW, your home offers a lot of possibility for the future. ;) Thank you again!
very nice, clean
very clean, nice views
Everything was perfect.. I wish we had better wether to explore resort more but there was plenty to do in cabin. Owner was really helpful and easy to reach. Would definitely recommend the place especially if you coming in large group.
Superb Views and Great Home for Families
The house was well stocked with games, household items, movies and was very clean. The owner was very responsive for the few questions we asked upon our arrival. The trip through the neighborhood was very curvy and the driveway was best approached by one direction versus the other. However, the trip is well worth the views. The neighborhood amenities were great and we always enjoy Big Canoe. We had a great time and have no complaints. The pinball machine was also fun (bring some change) but was a little loud. Thanks for the memories.
Whenever I go stay at the cabins in Big Canoe, I'm always taken by the peace and serenity of the North Georgia mountains. It always makes me feel at ease to hear the churning and splashing of the waterfall at Shooting Star Falls, and I'm always left breathless looking out over the mountains while at Stargazer Lodge.
