About the property

Plain furnished flat on the ground floor of a semidetached house (two floors) with private access to the seaside. The rooms, comfortable and full of light, overlook the garden and the sea through large windows.

The furniture is modern and elegant; in the kitchen you can find all you need to cook with comfort; the bedrooms are well-aired and quiet, and welcome you with the color of the mediterranean country.

The wide areas in the garden(in common with the second floor) are suitable to relax in the shade of the tall pines or to enjoy the sicilian sunshine. The garden and the sea are connnected by 10 steps. The rock coast, sheltered in gulf of Solanto, is easily enjoyable through a small private pier and a solarium with deckchairs.

The calm, clear and beautiful sea invites to do scuba diving, snorkelling, swimming, canoeing (belonging to the house). Nearby there is a school for water-skiing, sailing, surfing and scuba diving with guided excursions in underwater archeological areas. Diving equipement can be rented.

FABULOUS!

  • 5 of 5

You can never be certain that the images you see of an apartment are as good in real life as they are on the website. We can honestly say that Eduardo’s apartment more than lived up to expectations. The terrace is large with chairs and tables placed to take advantage of sun or shade (not to mention the moon) at all times of the day and night and with private access to the rocky shore again with loungers strategically placed. Snorkeling was a joy in the crystal clear waters. The views are stunning and we never tired of them. The property is surrounded by a beautifully tended garden which is a joy. The apartment is extremely well equipped, clean and very light and airy. Beautifully laundered linen was provided as was a plentiful supply of towels. The satnav took us exactly to the location and Eduardo and Maria were there to greet us. A welcome pack was also provided which was greatly appreciated. The reply to our original enquiry was prompt and a week before our visit Eduardo and then Vittorio contacted us with useful information. Vittorio’s English is excellent. We had thought we might not need a car as we understood the station was nearer than it actually is but a car is a necessity. We chose Santa Flavia as a location because of the station so we could visit Palermo by train. This worked extremely well - parking outside the station was easy and the ticket system was easy to understand as instructions were in several different languages. Mariela and Mario who live upstairs were delightful and so helpful. We have made new friends! Nothing was too much for Mariela in particular whose English is very good. Vittorio kept in touch with us during our stay and he was really helpful. The only drawbacks to this great apartment was the approach was off-putting with a lot of rubbish not being collected on a daily basis and litter everywhere and parking was slightly tricky. On a few occasions we had to park the car a five minute or so walk away. We had a Panda which was about the right size - anything larger would have caused more problems. We would definitely return here.

"My family and I stayed in Santa Flavia for a week at this rental and had a wonderful time. It's a lovely (and very large) house, and the garden/ocean view is just as nice as the pictures show. The owners were very kind and answered all of our questions first through email, and then on-site when we met at the house. Definitely recommended if you're heading for Sicily and don't want to be smack in the city."

  • 5 of 5

"The villa in Santa Flavia was perfect-very spacious and comfortable, and the view from the garden patio was stunning! The friendly owners greeted us with Sicilian cookies and fresh oranges from their tree, and they were more than accomodating. Special thanks to Vittorio (the owner's son) for helping us recover our baggage which had been lost by Alitalia (Americans should beware of checking baggage through to Palermo- we met at least 3 other American couples who had the same problem). The property was close enough to Palermo to allow easy access to the sites, but far enough to get away from the chaos of the city and relax."

The villa is very near (about 3kms) to an archeological ruins site, Solùnto, the ancient city founded by the Carthaginian. In the near town of Bagheria it is possible to visit the wonderful 100 villas, famous for their Sicilian Baroque architecture.

In the promontory of Capo Zafferano, a path leads to the old lighthouse of Mongerbino, where you can enjoy an amazing view overlooking the sea.

Porticello's important fishing harbour close-by. At a distance of less 3kms (at Casteldaccia) the quick motorway connection makes it possible to rapidly reach the most appealing tourist resorts in Sicily: Palermo (20kms), Cefalù (50kms), Agrigento, Selinunte (120kms), Taormina (200kms), mount Etna (220kms), the Madonie Natural Park (80kms), the Nebrods Natural Park (140kms) and Milazzo (180kms) from which the Eolie Islands can be reached.
