Peaceful bliss

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and feels like home. It is very welcoming. We loved the many decks and balconies. And the view from each.

There were 7 of us and we all fit comfortably. Very much appreciated the quick and friendly responses from the owners. The whole family hopes to return soon for more than a quick last minute weekend getaway.

Charming Cabin with a View

  • 5 of 5

If you’re looking for an authentic rustic cabin, you will find it at the Bass Lake cabin. The owners Suzette and Darby have created a special place to create many happy memories with family and friends. The cabin offers a fully equipped kitchen and many options for dining including outside. The stone hearth in the living room is welcoming and beautiful along with all the details that were carefully chosen to make this cabin ideal. The view from the master bedroom balcony, living room and front porch is very relaxing and tranquil. We were a family of 12 and we were comfortable. The layout of the cabin was well thought out to accommodate many. The owners are very responsive in their communication providing information to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This cabin is a gem with a lot of charm and welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Spectacular accommodations and views.

  • 4 of 5

No garbage disposal, and required to wash the linens. But, the size of the home and property ensures enough room for all (11 of us). The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and table ware. Two dining chairs collapsed while sitting in them. Will stay again.

We had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

The house is nice. The owners were very quick to help when we had a small issue with the TV. We would definitely go back there!

Beautiful house in a private location

  • 5 of 5

As others have said, this is a beautiful, very high quality house. We loved not being able to see the neighbors (despite a fence separating the property from the one relatively close neighbor), and we appreciated how the grounds appeared to be completely natural--with deciduous oaks and manzanitas. It looks like the owners are constructing an outdoor kitchen area--which when complete will be a marvelous addition to an already excellent back area, which the back porch overlooks. The extra cottage you can rent is out there too, making for a wonderful central outdoor gathering area. The two main bedrooms are fabulous, especially the upstairs king bedroom, which has a small balcony and a great view. We heard turkeys in the morning, which we loved. The third bedroom really is just a bed in a tiny room as described, and the door is not really a real door but just a partition from the rest of the loft. The loft area is great for kids or others as long as they don't need much privacy, as the upstairs king bedroom and the third bedroom open right onto it. All these bedrooms (except the downstairs queen) share the upstairs bathroom, which has two doors. We loved the house location at the end of a longish driveway of a dead-end street. We also appreciated being able to plug in a computer to the TV (they have a cable that worked with my Mac) to show photographs or to watch movies on Amazon Prime. Apparently you can be charged an extra $15 for leaving a full trash bin outside (I don't think the materials said this--nor did the owners--but the housecleaners who showed up just before checkout time told us that, so perhaps the owner absorbs this cost--I don't know because we ended up taking away nearly all of our trash/recycling/compost and dealing with it at home). It was a little stressful trying to get the laundry (sheets and towels) done before checkout time the morning of our departure (the owner actually only asked us to get it started, though the house instructions say to have it dry before leaving). We were surprised at how low the water level in Bass Lake was despite last year's abundant snow and rain, but we had a couple of great hikes, one to the Goat Mountain Fire lookout, and the other up Willow Creek, which has gorgeous rock formations. We would absolutely stay here again.

Great Bass Lake location, a bit far away for Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

Very high quality home, and spotlessly clean. We stayed 3 nights, just 2 of us, so we slept in the king bed upper bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable...great sleeping. This is a perfect location for a Bass Lake vacation. We were visiting Yosemite, so it was a bit too far...45 min (don't look at mileage, as you are on lake and mountain roads). Another 45 min into Yosemite, so would try to get closer to the park for our next visit. The property itself, though is stellar, and would be a great fishing or hunting lodge. Either bring your own linens for beds and bath, or request to have them provided. A few kitchen linens are provided.
