Overview

About the property

A 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom With Mountain Views In A Quiet Setting

We have a spacious comfortable home situated in a quiet residential neighborhood about 6 miles outside of Seward.

A 3 bedroom 2 bath that sleeps 8. Each downstairs bedroom has a king bed. One bedroom has a private bath. The upstairs sleeping area is perfect for children with a twin bunk bed set and a queen tempurpedic bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities for preparing meals. This property is perfect for multiple families or those traveling with extended family. It is very spacious and comfortable. It has a large southern facing deck with great sunshine for outdoor dining and great mountain views. There is also plenty of room for parking a boat if you are headed to Seward for fishing. This property is just around the corner from the Stoney Creek Zip Line. We believe this property is a diamond in the rough. It may not have the typical attributes of an Alaskan cottage or log home, but it is spacious, clean, and comfortable and is coined the Garage Lodge as it is located in large airplane hangar.

About Lisa Hartman

I have lived in Seward since 1981. I moved here as a child then my husband and I moved back in 1998. I have worked at the Alaska SeaLife Center since its opening in '98 and my husband owns a small construction company. We built our home in 2003 and we are excited about expanding our property and sharing our love of Alaska with our guests.

Lisa Hartman purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Lisa Hartman chose Kenai Peninsula

We live next door and believe we have a beautiful piece of paradise and felt very fortunate when this property became available, so we can now share the beauty of Seward with others.

What makes this apartment unique

We believe this property is a diamond in the rough. It may not have the typical attributes of an Alaskan cottage or log home, but it is spacious, clean, and comfortable and allows plenty of room for parking a boat if you are coming to Seward to fish.

It's not really a garage...

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place in a great location for exploring Seward. Plenty of room for the 4 of us, very comfortable, and all the amenities we would need. Lisa was wonderful to work with and Rerun, the dog, enjoyed coming over for a nightly visit. If you want to be close to Seward, this is the place. Thanks Lisa.

Welcoming and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

The house was exactly as advertised and then more. Everything we needed to begin our vacation was in the house waiting for us. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is a dream to work in and the bathrooms were luxuriant too. Having the laundry room proved a Godsend after our last hike.

To sum it up, when I return to Seward, I will request this house again.

Great location great owners!

  • 3 of 5

The Garage Lodge is strategically placed near Seward and is enough off the path to make you feel like you are in Alaska. You are in however a converted hangar/garage. The exterior is lacking curb appeal and that Alaskan charm we were looking for. The owners were very engaged, nice and caring folks. The inside of the place is nice and worked well for our two family group. One master downstairs for each parent group and all the kids upstairs. Wifi worked fairly well...place is stocked up with cooking gear....we left tons of spices and other stuff....ATT and Verizon had zero to 1 bars....so the wifi was important.

My woman is a runner so she was doing a lot of walking....we were warned that a brown bear was in the area and to be careful by the owners....that added to the Alaska feel!

Spacious home in a quiet setting

  • 5 of 5

The house is huge and well furnished. Has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Kid friendly too!

Owners were very responsive and patiently dealt with any issues that came up.

It is located in a quiet neighborhood 10 minutes away from the center of the town.

Seward itself is very pretty town. It is a good base for taking the cruise, hiking the Exit Glacier and exploring Kenai Fjords.

One minor issue : baseboard heating was not on for the first night we were there. We had to ask the owners to turn it on the next day. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay!

Wonderful stay and great home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had 5 great days at the garagelodge. It is nestled in a quiet and beautiful location surrounded by woods but convenient to town and activities. We went on a great sightseeing boat ride to Fox Island and saw whales, seals and bald eagles. We went hiking, biking, kayaking and visited glaciers. We had 3 bedrooms and large family room and kitchen and plenty of room for the 5 of us and an active 21 month old boy. It has a washer and dryer that was great! The beds were cozy and very comfortable, which is important to me! The kitchen was complete with everything we needed and plenty of room. The first day we arrived we relaxed, played games and watched the Olympics in the comfortable and large living room. My family loved the couch recliners and there were plenty for all of us!! Lisa was very helpful if we had questions as their home was located elsewhere on the property. We liked that as it gave us the privacy that we wanted but availability if we needed her. When my daughter asked about shopping to purchase warmer pants for the baby, Lisa gave her some pants that her young son outgrew! We would definitely recommend this home and when we come back to Alaska, we will stay at the garagelodge. We loved our "home away from home".
