About Lisa Hartman

I have lived in Seward since 1981. I moved here as a child then my husband and I moved back in 1998. I have worked at the Alaska SeaLife Center since its opening in '98 and my husband owns a small construction company. We built our home in 2003 and we are excited about expanding our property and sharing our love of Alaska with our guests.

Lisa Hartman purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Lisa Hartman chose Kenai Peninsula

We live next door and believe we have a beautiful piece of paradise and felt very fortunate when this property became available, so we can now share the beauty of Seward with others.

What makes this apartment unique

We believe this property is a diamond in the rough. It may not have the typical attributes of an Alaskan cottage or log home, but it is spacious, clean, and comfortable and allows plenty of room for parking a boat if you are coming to Seward to fish.

Spacious home in a quiet setting

  • 5 of 5

The house is huge and well furnished. Has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Kid friendly too!

Owners were very responsive and patiently dealt with any issues that came up.

It is located in a quiet neighborhood 10 minutes away from the center of the town.

Seward itself is very pretty town. It is a good base for taking the cruise, hiking the Exit Glacier and exploring Kenai Fjords.

One minor issue : baseboard heating was not on for the first night we were there. We had to ask the owners to turn it on the next day. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay!

Wonderful stay and great home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We had 5 great days at the garagelodge. It is nestled in a quiet and beautiful location surrounded by woods but convenient to town and activities. We went on a great sightseeing boat ride to Fox Island and saw whales, seals and bald eagles. We went hiking, biking, kayaking and visited glaciers. We had 3 bedrooms and large family room and kitchen and plenty of room for the 5 of us and an active 21 month old boy. It has a washer and dryer that was great! The beds were cozy and very comfortable, which is important to me! The kitchen was complete with everything we needed and plenty of room. The first day we arrived we relaxed, played games and watched the Olympics in the comfortable and large living room. My family loved the couch recliners and there were plenty for all of us!! Lisa was very helpful if we had questions as their home was located elsewhere on the property. We liked that as it gave us the privacy that we wanted but availability if we needed her. When my daughter asked about shopping to purchase warmer pants for the baby, Lisa gave her some pants that her young son outgrew! We would definitely recommend this home and when we come back to Alaska, we will stay at the garagelodge. We loved our "home away from home".

Spacious and comfortable is certainly right!

  • 5 of 5

The Hartmans have built a very spacious place in this former garage, more room than our family of five knew what to do with! The furnishings were so comfortable, the towels and linens clean and plentiful, and the owners so hospitable and communicative. Highly recommend!

Great place in Seward, kids still talking about it!

  • 5 of 5

I had read reviews before we booked this place so I already knew that it was located on top of a storage garage. This place was great for our family of 7. It is not luxurious but it is clean and lots of space. It is nicely decorated and the kitchen is fully stocked. The bathrooms are really clean which is one thing that I really like. The owners live next door and were extremely friendly and knowledgable. My kids played at their house everyday as we had kids similar ages. We stayed two weeks in Alaska and my kids still say the garage lodge was their favorite. We even saw a moose one morning when walking by the storage unit right down the road. We were excited as we were hoping to see one. Can't say enough about how great the owners were. We will definately be back.

Rustic, spacious, clean

  • 5 of 5

We had 6 adults stay in this home, and there was plenty of space for all. Lisa and Ed were great about answering any questions we had and are very down to earth people. The exterior of the house fits the "garage lodge" title, but the inside is anything but a garage. A nice distance from town, this get away gives you a more woodsy, rustic feel of Alaska.
