Why Brigadoon Vacation Rentals chose Olympic Peninsula & Pacific Coast

Bob Bordonaro and Robin Alexis are your hosts at the Mystic Sunset House. They met in a most auspicious manner in September 2000 and everything they have created together since then, including the Mystic Sunset House, has a touch of magic to it. When you step into their home you will be greeted by the mysterious vibe. Enjoy it! Especially enjoy it when you walk out the back door and up the sacred stone path to the Sunset Viewing Hut in the backyard. Become aware and become tantalized by one of the most interesting bluff views in the world.

What makes this house unique

The never ending view.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a beautiful, enchanting place! Three generations of my family stayed. We loved all the wildlife--the deer, gulls, salamandars, bald eagles, even the little snake that liked to hang out next to the front porch. The sunset hut was beautiful as well. All we can say is WOW and thank you soooo much.

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Mystic Sunset. The house was very well-kept, and the view was absolutely to die for. My main complaint is that the viewing hut smelled of cigarette smoke (or mold? My husband and I couldn't quite figure it out), so I could not sit in there. I was extremely bummed I wasn't able to enjoy the sunsets because the smell made me sick. In the evenings it's extremely windy up there, so sitting in the hut is the best way to enjoy the view. I notified the booking agency when we checked out and they were shocked to hear this, as smoking is not allowed there. If they took care of this problem, the place gets 5 stars from me. NOTE: We had to do a LOT of convincing for them to allow us to have our 2-year old at this house. It's very smart of them to not allow young children because a curious child could seriously fall off the sheer face of the cliff if they tried to hop the fence. As promised, we kept our child in our arms when we were in the backyard at all times. Overall, a great place to stay for adults, definitely not for young children. We used this as our home base for day trips to Olympic National Park- specifically, Neah Bay, Hoh Rainforest, Second Beach in La Push, etc.

I also loved that, a few houses down, there's a mini mailbox library for visitors to drop off a used book and borrow a new one.

An absolutely beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent a week enjoying the Mystic Sunset House, with my parents joining us for 3 of the nights. The house was more than roomy enough for 4 adults and two teenagers. The master suite was over the top, the sunset hut was wonderful, we saw several mama deer with babies in the yard on multiple occasions, we even saw bald eagles! The house is only a couple of blocks from the Olympic Discovery Trail which my wife and I often enjoyed walking. The people at Brigadoon Vacation rentals were very helpful pointing us toward grocers carrying fresh grown local fruits and the sights to be seen in the area. Truly one of the nicest VRBO rentals we have stayed in.

Absolutely Fantastic Vacation Rental

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at this house and hope to return someday soon. It was an excellent home base for a week of exploring the Olympic Peninsula. The area the house is located in was extremely quiet. The view from the deck and sunset hut were breathtaking. You can watch the sunrise over Mt. Baker and see the sunset over Vancouver Island. I docked a star off the rating because we encountered problems related to overall cleanliness. Most of the dishes and silverware were put away dirty. There was a large pile of dirt swept under the front door mat. The vacuum cleaner didn't work and there was no broom. The management company is aware and I am confident the issues will be resolved for the next renters.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, we have addressed all of these issues. We have exchanged cleaning services, and the vacuum is being addressed as the cleaners bring their own personal equipment we were not aware of the vacuum's dysfunction. We again, appreciate your feedback and look forward to being able to serve you again in the future.

Totally Delighted!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Mystic Sunset House for a week in early October and were totally delighted! It's a beautiful, comfortable, well appointed spacious house. The viewing hut is AMAZING. We were blessed with truly "mystic sunsets" all but one night of our stay when the fog rolled in. The hut is cozy with a magnificent view overlooking the endlessly mesmerizing Straight of Juan de Fuca. We could spot Mt Baker in the east, Canada straight ahead and the port and mountains to the west. The house is a comfortable distance for daily sightseeing tours. We toured Hurricane Ridge, Crater Lake Area and one day drove to Rialto Beach on the Pacific. There are great restaurants and convenient shopping but above all a truly relaxing and yes, enchanting place to spend a vacation. Can't wait to return.
