About Horace Martinez

The owner of RT66 Vacation Homes is Joe Horace of Albuquerque NM and has been in the hospitality industry for 15 years with an emphasis on client convenience and warm 'Attention to Details' hospitality. Retired from the aerospace industry, Horace began driving clients around as a limo and tour guide operator and then as a vacation home renter. The staff's goal is to provide a convenient 'One Stop/One Call' approach to guest services free of all the hassles of everyday travel at a terrific value. Horace and his staff are always looking for ways to make their clients stay be a memorable and fun filled vacation. Horace was once quoted, 'I got into the vacation homes business to help my limo clients have a unique alternative to lodging as opposed to the high priced hotels that nickel and dime their guests by charging for parking, internet, and cable tv' 'When you want convenience and luxury, you shouldn't have to receive a bill that is 3 times larger than when you started out!'

Horace Martinez purchased this house in 2008

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was a real treat having these outgoing fun loving guests from Ohio. From the 1st day of their arrival when they chose the Mercedes Compressor Sedan, I knew this yuppie couple wanted to see and do all that they could. We unloaded the golf clubs sent them off to dinner and the adventures began. The golfed in town, out of town at Black Mesa, visited the pueblos I suggested, and even saw the bio park, aquarium and the zoo. I had the pleasure of chauffeuring them to dinner in our stretch limo to old town for a fine dining experience in the old town plaza complete with a stop on the top of 9 mile hill to experience the sight and sound of the "Lights of Albuquerque". Everyday that they were here I saw them zooming in and out in the sports sedan they rented from us and always had a smile on their faces. They really took our suggestions to visit the wineries and the lavender farm, a day in the Historic Santa Fe Plaza, as well as the restaurants we commonly suggest. To sum up, it was indeed a pleasure to offer our concierge services to the wonderful gracious guests. It would be impossible to forget these folks from Ohio as they left no stone unturned, always thanked us and expressed their appreciation every step of the way. I hope to see Vicky & Todd again her soon or when I visit Ohio!

Keep on traveling, seeing the world, and the wonderful people in it!

Yes, it's a bit removed from downtown Albuquerque...

  • 5 of 5

But as first time visitors to the Balloon Fiesta, we loved this rental's location, and enjoyed the home's comfortable furnishings and amenities. Mary was great to work with, from making the reservation, to coordinating arrival plans, and throughout the stay, always quick to respond. She even upgraded us to this particular rental at no charge. And the welcome basket of chips and salsa was a nice touch too, especially after a long day of travel, and fighting through Balloon Fiesta traffic.

Things we particularly liked:

- The location 10 minutes from Old Town, yet reasonably close to other services like grocers, restaurants, etc., and easy access to freeways so we could skirt downtown Albuquerque traffic when heading to the Balloon Fiesta, the Sandia Crest Tram, and other points north.

- An immaculately clean home, tastefully decorated, and with comfortable furnishings. It might be a tiny bit small for three couples, but it worked great for the four of us.

- Limited responsibilities at check-out (in contrast to longs lists of things to be done in other places we've stayed). As Mary said, "it's your vacation!"

Things we didn't like so much:

- Getting up at 3:30am to attend the Balloon Fiesta. We'd been warned about the traffic, so we set the alarm so as not to miss our scheduled balloon flight. As it turned out, because of the location convenient to skirting downtown Albuquerque, we probably could have slept in until 4:00. :-)

Owner's Response: Thank you Steve! You made our job easy. We are glad you liked the upgrade to this home and are happy we could offer it to you. Sorry, I miscalculated that extra "1/2 hour" of sleep for you the day of your balloon ride- just wanted to get you there early enough. I hope the coffee was good when you got there? Make sure to come back and see us soon. Mary, Sue and Horace.

First Class experience in Albuquerque

  • 5 of 5

We stay in Rt 66's 3bdrm home during the Balloon Fest and had a great time! We are Diamond International Resort owners and our accommodations at Rt 66 were on par with Diamond. We were met by Mary and Sue who were very friendly, helpful, and professional. The kitchen is complete with anything you need. Two large double recliners, with cable TV and a gas fireplace in the LR, King size beds in the bedrooms, bathrooms completer with towels, shampoo, conditioner. A nice deck in back with two tables and chairs, and a BBQ grill. Washer and dryer complete with detergent. SO much nicer than 3 families staying in 3 hotel rooms, AND for similar price! If you are going to be in Albuquerque, stay with Rt66 and you will definitely enjoy your stay!

Beyond Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

I can not say enough about my stay, the location of the home, the hospitality of Horace, Mary, or Sue. The home is beautiful, the car is fantastic, and the people treat you like family. The home was spotless, the beds are super comfortable, and the option of a car is wonderful. The home is 15 minutes from most attractions - close enough to get there quickly, far enough away to avoid the bustle if you want to. Do not hesitate to book with Rt. 66 - they will give you a wonderful experience, a fantastic go-to for Albuquerque rentals, and life-long friendships! I will most certainly be back.

great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The home was great, everything we needed and comfortable beds, a nice area and close to a park and walmart less than 5 minutes away. Horace's friends greeted us as soon as we got to Albuquerque and were super-helpful. Maybe 15 minutes away from most attractions. I would recommend this property!
