Not a Luxury Condo!
Arrived at unit Sunday 3:15 pm. Code was working, but dead bolt was locked & had no key. We called, texted owner several times w/2 different #s & no response. We rented a hotel. Called VRBO Monday & VRBO tried to contact owner with no response. Monday pm, owner called me & said she was in the parking lot waiting for me w/ keys. Said she thought we were coming Monday pm. Clearly states in our agreement check in date. She expected I would drop what I was doing & meet that moment. Made an appt. to meet w/ her at 430, telling her I was not even sure we wanted to rent from her at this point. We met with her & moved into the condo on Tuesday morning. (Already had to rent the hotel for another night as checkout was 11:00 am & at that point in time we had not heard from the owner).
*Not a luxury condo. We are seasoned VRBO renters & I have never stayed in a condo with no directions for appliances, television, where to put garbage etc,. It was also advertised as having a house keeper (not that we wanted one, but this is false advertising), was handicapped accessible (there were stairs down to front door) & we were specifically looking for no stairs as my husband just had a knee replacement. It worked out but it may not have and this again is false advertising. Online it was billed as having free bottled water which was also not true, not expected but again false advertising.
*We emailed BEFORE renting to see if there was any more furniture in the living room than the couch shown in picture. Landlord said absolutely but I do not call folding chairs furniture in a luxury condo.
*No working TV in living room.
*No deck furniture. Nice lake view - nothing to sit on to see it!
* ONE drinking glass in the kitchen & ONE wine glass.
* No bedspreads & beds not made. Landlord explained that this is because she wants people to see there are no stains. Hotels never leave your beds unmade and they always have bedspreads.
*No sheet pans to cook pizza on.....
*No ironing board. Even low end hotels have ironing boards.
* One of the worst things: I killed a ROACH in the kitchen & found a big Roach/Palmetto Bug in the bathroom! I could not catch that one! I have four children who live in the Cornelius/Huntersville area & NOT ONE of them have bugs in their homes because they spray for them. I understand this is common in NC but there are ways to prevent it especially in a luxury condo!

Family Reunion Lodge
We really enjoyed our family reunion at the Grist Mill Lodge and Cottage. The facilities were clean and fairly well equipped. The owners were very helpful. There was plenty of room for our family of 39 people, which included 9 children and babies although there were not as many beds as advertised. There were not enough beds to sleep 45. The weather is mild here, not too hot in the summer. There are a lot of interesting and beautiful places to visit around this area. The kitchen in the main lodge is large and has plenty of refrigerator space.
This is a comfortable little condo in a nice location right by the lake with a nice view. I enjoyed walking along the lake paths. The condo needs some upkeep and maintenance and we had a problem with ants and the internet not working. The grocery store is a 5 minute walk.
