Cute house

  • 2 of 5

This is a cute house at first site. I really wanted to give a good review. Wish I could but I can't lie. I would like to know this information before booking. The pictures make the house look way bigger than it actually is. As with the pool too. We were allowed to get in a little early as you pay for a full day but can't get in till 4. Because of cleaning. After a couple of days we started to get congested and some of the kids upstairs got sick. My daughter n law went searching after one of hers went down. MOLD!! All in the vents and in the books downstairs. Because it was cold we had the heater on. This was blowing in all their faces as they slept. We informed her of it and she didn't seem to be too concerned. Said her cleaners were good cleaners. Well not so!!I have pictures which I've kept, she wasn't interested. Kids were excited about swimming in the pool. We were willing to pay the extra money which by the way is no where in the details of the listing. The heater didn't work, that was a little frustrating. So no swimming!!She did not charge us. Overall we enjoyed ourselves in St. Simons. Easy fun walk to town. The kids were able to skate board and play on the street as traffic was light. We all did go home sick. Hoping she has taken care of the mold in the vents and gotten new books. BEWARE, The owner of this house gave me a bad review which was wrong!! I also didn't appreciate it. I guess I asked too many questions (all of which I still have) she said please ask anything, so we did. I communicated too much I guess?? We left the house as per written instructions. We love St. Simons Island and look forward to going back. Just not this house!!

Owner's Response: Happily, in our twelve years of renting this home we have many, many repeat customers. These people are wonderful, lovely guests who take care of this house like it is their own. One family told me their child says "when are we going back to our beach house", that is how many times they have come. Sadly, in our twelve years this was by FAR the worst renter we have ever had. They brought more people then the home allows and then called us for more blankets. The heater on the pool was not broken, they did not understand you put the thermal blanket back across at night to retain the heat. When my husband went over to show them how to work the pool, there was a small child by the pool alone on a scooter. When the cleaning crew got there this guest had left 7 bags of trash in the home, dirty diapers, open containers of drinks all over the house etc. It took several days to clean it. The readers digest books she complained about were thrown away. There is absolutely no evidence of mold anywhere. This is a great, lovely home. Sadly, we rented to this guest...I knew when I would not give them four pm check out (for free) this is what we would receive. We have never had guests leave sick. That is absolutely ridiculous and if that were the case, why did they request a late check out for their deep sea fishing trip!

Quintessential SSI Charm

  • 5 of 5

My family spent Thanksgiving together here and everyone of us gave it 5 stars! We had plenty of room to relax, cook and enjoy lots of different activities! The town is blocks away with an adjacent park, playground, museum and historic lighthouse. The restaurants meet any palates desire-we recommend the Half Shell,-ask for George and order dessert!. This home provided our every need including signature bathrobes and a heated pool.We enjoyed our turkey dinner on the front porch at sunset with a spectacular view of the ocean. We were all very comfortable and welcomed by many of the friendly neighbors.

Great House in great location

  • 5 of 5

Our group had a fantastic stay here. There were 8 adults and 5 children and the house was plenty big enough for all of us. Charlene was very accommodating to let us check in early and to turn on the pool heater. The house was in a fantastic location. We could walk everywhere or ride our bikes. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully we will get to come back in the near future.

Good family time!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house for a fairly large family. We had 12 in our family who spent our vacation here.

The owners were friendly and willing to help us in several different ways that made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms were not exremely large, but were adequate for our family. The location is close to Brunswick, which makes stores accessible, but the feel was quite private on a quiet lane, which is near the ocean. The only hard thing if you are a beach lover is the tide being in part of the day, causing there not to be a beach for several hours. We spent a lot of those hours in the pool or going to Jekyll. At night our adult children enjoyed stepping off the bridge into the ocean and playing in the waves at sunset and in the moonlight. It was a different, but enjoyable experience.

Location perfect! House adorable! Stay fabulous!!!

  • 5 of 5

It can be so terribly nerve wracking to pull up to a vrbo! This lovely beach cottage was beyond what we had hoped for!!! It was quaint, beautifully furnished and bright as could be!! The pool area was just perfect for us! If the tide came in we headed to our private paradise in the back yard! However, with 12 hours a day of beach that's all this family could take.

The owners were great...extremely responsive to any questions or requests. Even down to buying us a large pot for a low country boil!

We loved being able to just walk to the village for breakfast, ice cream, dinner, shopping or whatever! We even walked down to the library with the kids on our one gloomy day!!

Our family will be back and would definitely recommend anyone call these lovely owners to book.
