If you are looking for quiet solitude that settles the soul, and easy 20 minute access to Estes Park this is the place. Our cabin is located 13 miles south of Estes Park on a private road on Coyote Hill.
It is more of a mountain home than a cabin. It has an open floor plan with kitchen, dining area and great room. For sleeping, it has three bedrooms and a living room (completely separate from the great room) with a wood burning sandstone fireplace, cozy living room with hide-a-bed, a rocking chair, desk and bookcases. The entire cabin is furnished in a high quality manner including original art, oriental rugs and several handcrafted pieces of furniture. It has great south and western views of RMNP’s Wild Basin. It sleeps nine people and includes all of the modern conveniences.
Many amendities for kids, including a tree house with a side and firepole pole , playhouse, sand box, and swings. We have 7 grandkids and they all love it.
The location is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and relaxing. You will have close access to Rocky Mountain National park and its wide range of activities. Enjoy cocktails around the wood fire pit and watch the stars or sunrise while relaxing in the hot tub. Lots of wildlife, including birds, small animals and occasional Moose and Elk pay a visit. It is surrounded on three sides by large decks overlooking the continental divide.
The solid log cabin sits on 5 acres. It has hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings with distressed cypress paneling. There are great views from every room. You will see the sun rise or set over Mount Meeker as you look out the large windows in the family room from kitchen.
There are three bedrooms with queen-sized beds. The master bedroom has a hand made log bed, new mattress, skylight, private deck and full bath. The second and third bedrooms also have vaulted ceilings with large log purloins and views of the mountain. The third bedroom in addition to a queen bed has a single bed perfect for a child. The second and third bedrooms share a bathroom and shower. There is a high quality queen-sized inflatable hide-a-bed in the living room.
The cabin was completely remodeled in 2000 with high quality furnishings (including several hand crafted pieces) art and modern appliances including: new gas range in 2015, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator with water and ice dispenser in the door, trash compactor and filtered water at the sink and refrigerator. Kitchen cabinets are maple with granite tile countertops and backsplashes.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the expected hand appliances: toasters, blenders, coffee grinder and coffee maker. Dishes and glassware are all new this season. The cabin also has a stacked Whirlpool Duet front-loading washer and dryer to take care of your laundry needs.

For relaxing outdoors, 900 sf of decks surround the cabin with log railings. On the main deck there is a sandstone wood burning fire pit to keep you warm while watching the sun go down, and enjoying music from outside speakers.
There is a large hot tub at one end of the deck with great views of the mountains perfect for watching the sunset, or having a cup of coffee while listening to NPR, as the sun rises in the morning, causing Mount Meeker to glow an amazing shade of pink.
Our cabin is equipped for our 7 grandchildren, with swings and a playhouse cabin for smaller kids. Older kids will enjoy the great tree house with 16-foot slide, fire pole, tire swing and tree swing. All the kid’s features are all within 30 feet of the front deck.
There are about 20 cabins on our private road with no full time residents. On most days you won’t see more than a car or two pass the cabin. Our property is adjacent to a 2000 acre Boulder open space that will never be developed; so hiking is just up the hill.
The cabin is very close (five miles) to the Wild Basin entrance to RMNP where a short hike will take you to Calypso cascades and waterfall. Several longer more challenging hikes are also options from this entrance.
For horseback riding, the Meeker Park Lodge and Stables are only three miles away. (Meeker Park lodge is over 80 years old and run by the original family. It is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) There is also horseback riding in Allenspark (five miles away) and the Aspen Lodge (5 miles away).
One of the great features of our cabin is easy access to Estes Park with out the traffic and congestion of an Estes Park location. For more a more lower pace visit Allenspark (5 miles) which has several restaurants including a new Rock Creek tavern for pizza, Meadow Mountain Cafe for big mountain breakfasts and healthy lunches, and the Fawn Brook in for luxury dining.
The cabin is 13 miles south of Estes Park so you are only 20 minutes away from the many attractions of Estes Park, including the main entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and the world famous Trail Ridge Road (the highest continuously paved highway in the US). The drives over Trail Ridge Road makes a great day drive, passing over the 12,880' high continental divide to Grand Lake and back.
Estes Park has many attractions including golf, shopping and many weekend festivals, including the Longs Peak Scottish Highland Festival and the Elk Fest in the fall. You will probably see more Elk in Estes Park than anywhere else in Colorado. For kids, check out the Big Slide amusement park for lots of rides and fun. For more challenges try the ropes course next door.
We do rent our cabin in the late fall (Nov and Dec) primarily for the holidays . For those months we recommend access using a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The hill is steep (500' elevation) with several curves. It is a private road and is not maintained (plowed) in the winter. Although Nov/ Dec are not traditionally snowy months you need a vehicle that can handle potential snow. We do not refund cancellations due to inability to access the cabin.
If you are looking for a great place to relax with your friends and family in a secluded but luxurious environment our cabin is the place. Our cabin is located at 8650 ft elevation for warm summer days and cool summer nights. No AC needed here just open the windows.
