About Scott Brooks

This is our personal home that we will be renting for the next 2 years. Too nice a place to sell.

Scott Brooks purchased this house in 2004

Why Scott Brooks chose Crystal River

From the moment you turn onto Water Wood Drive you will know you have entered a special place. Saltwater marshes, open water views world class fishing and Kayak Heaven. All in a peaceful environment away from the crowds. Loudest thing you will hear is the birds chirping in the morning. A true Florida paradise. Finely furnished and appointed.

What makes this house unique

Peace and great neighbors.

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here right after Hurricane Irma. Due to the Hurricane, we were 5 days late checking into the home. Scott was so fantastic to work with. He stayed in constant contact with us prior to arrival to ensure the home had electric and was safe for our arrival. He lives in Sweden, but was in town to check on things due to the hurricane. He was around a few times cleaning debris from the yard, but still gave us our privacy.

We loved the screened in outdoor space/pool area. Great for keeping the pesty bugs out. We had our own fishing poles and fished several mornings/evenings off of the dock. The screened in porch off of the kitchen and master bedroom was great for bird watching and morning coffee. The beds were comfy and air conditioner worked great! We rented kayaks and went kayaking at three sisters spring in crystal river, not too far from the house. We would absolutely rent this property again! Thanks for everything Scott!

Owner's Response: Thank You so much for your kind review. I am so glad things worked out for you and your family. The hurricane presented some challenges , glad we could work through it. Would be nice to have you back , would be a great family reunion location if you could also book the house next door..

Nice place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband loved this area for fishing, since he already knows the area. We brought our fishing boat and took evening rides and fishing trips. Didn't use pool because we weren't sure if it was safe. Beds were very comfortable. Garbage disposal didn't work but overall it was a nice place to stay. Very quiet street. Off the beaten path.

Beautiful house in a Beautiful Location.

  • 4 of 5

We rented the Zeeland house in Crystal River from Scott in March and April 2017. It is a Stilt house with a pool, bar and one bedroom and bath on first floor. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on the second floor. Beautiful view of the salt marshes and river from the second floor. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable in the kitchen and living room. Appliances, cable, and wifi all worked great. Scott lives in Sweden but had onsite caretaker available for assistance. Thank you Dave! There was a dock out back with small boat and kayak to use. We did kayak Crystal River springs which are beautiful clear waters with lots of manatees and other wildlife. The house is in a small quaint and quiet subdivision about 5 miles outside town on the road to the beach. Great location! Couple of tips for future renters

....1)Fishing is great. Go out with a guide for a day or bring your own boat 2) No-seums (bugs) can get hungry especially near dusk so bring some bugspray 3) If you kayak Crystal River springs, try to do so after 5 pm when the tourists have gone. Thank you Scott and I hope to rent there again..Bill F.

Relaxing Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our vacation, and loved this house. We stayed a week in late May, and weather was beautiful. We brought our boat, and put it in the water at park about 5 minutes away, then we tied it to the dock the entire week. It was so nice to take a morning stroll and return for lunch, take a dip in the pool, then enjoy a sunset ride in the evening.

The neighborhood is very peaceful. Coffee on the porch in the morning was a perfect way to start your day. The house looked just like the pictures. It was very clean and stocked with essentials. The owner provide people to contact if anything we needed anything for our stay (but we didn't need to use it). The screened in porch was my favorite part of the house. It was provided a place to swim, grill, and relax.

We would recommend to anyone who was looking for a nice quiet place to spend a family vacation!!

Comfortable, relaxing and peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

The listing description is accurate. Very comfortable house and good air conditioning. The screened-in porches and swim area make it nice to sit outside and not be eaten up by mosquitoes and other biting insects. The view of the marsh in the front of the house is very nice and we enjoyed watching storms approach over the marsh. The back yard and river are nice. We enjoyed watching the woodpeckers eat the peaches from a tree in the back yard and fish jumping in the river. It is a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic. The yard is large and gave us plenty of room to walk the dog. The bed in the master bedroom is comfortable and it was nice to have blinds that kept the room dark in the daytime so that my husband could sleep as he is a night worker. Ft. Island Park is not far from the property and is a nice place to watch the sunset. Husband got a bad rash from contact with seaweed so use caution swimming there.

Very nice appliances. More dishes (plates, bowls, glasses, serving bowls, etc.), steak knives and knives that easily slice tomatoes, for example, and a vegetable peeler would be helpful in the kitchen. The fridge should be emptied when guests leave. The property was clean except there was a problem with hundreds of very small, flying insects in the master bathroom that somehow got inside and died. The pool is screened in but there was a layer of something like pollen floating on top of the water. Once the pump was turned on and left on, it helped to clear the substance from the water. We discussed the bugs and pool issues with the caretaker but since the owner lives in Sweden, the caretaker had to contact the owner and wait for permission to call a pool company. We were told a pool tech was coming but that was the last full day we were there and we never saw anyone. Nothing was done about the bugs in the bathroom but after the first day it appeared that no more bugs were coming in. Dave, the caretaker, was very helpful with getting the jon boat in the water and getting the battery out of the garage. The burner in the grill works but needs to be replaced.

The rental fee for this property is very reasonable. If the yard was cleaned up (there is a lot of debris that needs to be removed such as piles of wood perhaps from an old dock, old rusty tables, rotting wooden chairs, etc.) and a pool company hired to maintain the pool, this would be a five-star property.

Crystal River is a small River Front community know as the home of the Manatees. It is one of the only places in the world where you can get in the water and interact with the Manatee. Located on the Nature Coast almost all wildlife that lives in Florida can be spotted here. Inshore waters have some of the best Redfish and Trout fishing in the world. Offshore Grouper and Snapper.Redfish and other game fish are commonly caught. The area is home to seven spring feed rivers with multiple water related activities. The main street area has several nice restaurants, bars and art galleries. The pace is slow and the dress is casual. This home opens to the Salt River which leads directly into the Gulf of Mexico. You can also easily access the Crystal River by water. The surrounding waters are full of fish, and can be reached by Kayak and Canoe if you do not have a boat. The local Beach is 4 miles away. There are two hiking trails within 3 miles and many more are available . The house is in a unique area in the St . Martins Marsh Preserve. Quiet, private with many opportunities to observe local wild life. Dolphins in the back canal are a common sighting.
