Ambleside: 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Apartment in Private in Grounds with Parking

On the 2nd floor of a converted traditional stone mansion, this light and comfortable apartment is ideally located between Ambleside and Waterhead at the north end of Lake Windermere. It is a perfect base for walkers, and for exploring all the cultural and sporting attractions of the area. It is close to the wide range of cafes, pubs and restaurants and other amenities in Ambleside and Waterhead. You will have a peaceful and comfortable place to sleep, as well as excellent views of sunsets over the fells from the living room.

The accommodation includes two bedrooms (king and double), living room, dining area, kitchen, ensuite bathroom and separate shower room, and allocated parking.

Situated a short walk from the shores of Windermere in a peaceful location on a knoll above Borrans Park, the property is set in over 4 acres of shared garden and mature woodland. The lounge and both bedrooms enjoy lovely views of the fells and Lake Windermere. The garden and visiting wildlife can be seen from the kitchen (deer often come and feed on the garden plants!). It is within walking distance of the amenities of Ambleside and Waterhead and has easy access to a wide variety of walks, both on the fells and along the lakeshore.

The apartment has a shared entrance and internal staircase to the second floor where the landing has space for coats and boots. The door to the apartment opens to an entrance hallway leading to the bedrooms and the living room. There is a double bedroom and a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The living room has a flat screen colour Freeview TV, DVD, and HiFi. Both bedrooms and the lounge have views of Loughrigg and the Coniston range, and on a clear day the tips of the Langdale range can also be seen. From the windows there are excellent views of Borrans Park and the north end of Lake Windermere. The dining area has seating for up to four people. The kitchen has a fridge with small freezer box, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob, washer/drier, and a seating area for two people to have a coffee while looking down at the garden. The bathroom has a double-ended slipper bath, handbasin, WC and heated towel rail. The shower room has a shower cubicle, handbasin, WC and heated towel rail.

Directly across the road from the property’s grounds there is an entrance to Borrans Park which stretches down to the shores of Lake Windermere and includes the ruins of the Roman fort of Galava.

The location is a walkers’ paradise, but there are plenty of other amenities. It is five minutes walk to Waterhead where there is a pub, restaurant, shops, Windermere Cruises (frequent ferries to other points on Lake Windermere), and boat or kayak hire. Ten minutes walk away is Ambleside itself, the heart of the southern lakes. This lively village boasts a host of cafes, restaurants and shops with walking gear, as well as three cinemas, mini golf, a park, tennis courts, bike hire, an indoor climbing wall, and the Armitt Museum. Slightly further afield in Windermere there is an excellent golf course and a mini golf in Bowness at the edge of the lake. For culture lovers, Blackwell arts and crafts house and garden overlooking Lake Windermere is 7 miles away, and Brantwood – John Ruskin’s house overlooking Coniston water - is 9 miles away, while Dove Cottage – the Wordsworth museum is 4 miles away in Grasmere.

superb location with wonderful views

Have just returned from a lovely week in this property. Arriving with bikes, we were kindly offered the use of a large shed to store them in. Apartment is very comfortable and has everything you need (tea pot would be good!). Views from both front and back are superb. A lovely peaceful setting but yet 10 minute walk into the buzz of Ambleside. Mountain biked at Grizedale and Whinlatter forests and tried open water swimming at Rydal and Windermere - all good fun:-) Thanks for a great week in this property. Would certainly recommend it.

Can't fault the place..

Just Spent a week at 6 Borrans Court and i can't really say a bad thing about the place. (be warned that the property is on the top of the house and there are a few flights of steps to take).The property is a good size and has all the things to make your stay a good one,big long galley kitchen(with the usual cooker, fridge,microwave,toaster et al) ,en suite bathroom in the main bedroom a second bedroom both double beds and a separate toilet and shower room off the living room. the view out of the living room is to die for and standing in the kitchen over looking the rear of the property we had deer roaming around the gardens. I would book this property again. Waterhead is a small place but has a few places to eat and drink,from the property about a five, ten minute walk(we found the Regent hotel the place to eat because they cater for gluten free meals (a Bonus for my wife who has to follow that sort of diet.be warned that it can be a bit expensive, but the food is good,well good). there are many boat trips from Waterhead which is known as Ambleside pier (Ambleside is a ten/fifteen minute walk + depending on your ability. Penny the owner emails all of the arrival details for you and the directions to get into the property. as i've said, well reccomended.

Ideal location, comfortable apartment

The apartment is in a fantastic location, a stone's throw from the lakeside and a short stroll into Ambleside. It's well decorated and comfortable, though 2 flights of stairs can be challenging after a long walk!! It's well equipped and peaceful and a good base for exploring the Southern lakes by car, bus or on foot.

A short stroll takes you in to Waterhead, which has a pub and a couple of reaturants if you are not inclined to cater for yourself (the Bar & Grill was good, Wateredge Inn average pub grub but fab tables right on the water edge). You can take a boat from here to several spots in Windermere without having to worry about parking.

Overall good, well maintained accommodation in a great location.

Sehr schönes Appartement in ruhiger Toplage

Trotz eines selbst für englische Verhältnisse zu regnerischen und kühlen Sommerwetters haben wir den Aufenthalt in dieser Ferienwohnung sehr genossen. Sie ist sehr geräumig, mit allem erforderlichen in Küche etc. ausgestattet und wirklich gemütlich.

Gerade für Kinder sehr schön ist auch das zum Anwesen gehörige parkähnliche Grundstück mit vielen Bäumen, Eichhörnchen und manchmal sogar Rehen. Die Wohnung liegt sehr ruhig in Ambleside fast direkt am See und ist aufgrund der zentralen Lage ideal geeignet für Ausflüge in alle Ecken des wunderschönen Lake Districts.

Insgesamt gerade für Familien mit Kindern sehr empfehlenswert.
