Beacher's Lodge 206 is a 1-bedroom, 1-bath condo on the second floor of a beachfront building just 10 miles south of historic downtown St. Augustine. The Intracoastal Waterway is just to the west, with spectacular sunsets and quieter waters for kayaking, canoeing, and walking. And one of northeast Florida's absolute best beaches -- Crescent -- is just yards away, waiting to be explored! (Not to mention Fort Matanzas and all the other local attractions of this history-rich piece of the coast!)

Your favorite spot at Beacher's Lodge 206 is going to be the oceanfront balcony. It's just irresistible. You can hear the surf out here, and feel the balmy, salt-tinged breezes. If you're traveling with kids, you'll love this location too, because not only can you watch them in the swimming pool right below you, you can follow their progress down the private boardwalk to the beach -- all without moving from your seat in the cool shade of the balcony!

Our condo is compact but very efficiently designed, with a combined living and dining area (all with a great view of the sea!) and then a private, quiet bedroom. This is ideal if you have small children: just put them down for their nap in the bedroom and you have the entire run of the rest of the condo to enjoy some grown-up time! Or, if one of your party goes to sleep significantly earlier than others, they can get their rest without being disturbed (and nobody has to tiptoe around!).

The living and dining area contains a sofa that converts to a bed for 2, a very relaxing easy chair, and a big wall-mounted HDTV. The dining table is right next to the sliding glass doors, so you can enjoy the view up close even when you must eat indoors. This table also makes a great game or laptop space (you have free community wireless Internet at Beacher's Lodge 206), so break out the cards and enjoy a night "in"!

The kitchenette in our condo is very well appointed, and we've filled the cabinets with dishes, cookware, utensils, and gadgets. The fridge is large enough for all your drinks and nibbles, the microwave and toaster oven stand ready for quick meals, and the stove is handy for home cooking. You just bring the food -- we've got everything else waiting for you!

The main part of our condo is designed for fun and togetherness, while the bedroom is nicely quiet and private. There's a firm, ultra-comfy king-sized bed in this room, plus a wall-mounted HDTV.

The bathroom, complete with a spacious walk-in shower, is convenient to both the bedroom and the living area. We also have all linens and towels are ready when you arrive and there are a washer and dryer on the premises. There are plenty of extra pillows and blankets for the sofa sleeper, too! You can sleep 4 very easily in our condo!

If you're used to hotel rooms, you'll be amazed at the convenience and spaciousness of Beacher's Lodge 206. Between the balcony, the living area, and the bedroom, there are distinct separate areas, so it's easy to find quiet space or divide the group when everyone wants to do something different.

But the best part of this condo is its location. You're right on the shores of Crescent Beach, with your own personal walkway (and outdoor shower) down to the sands. There are picnic and barbeque area on the grounds as well, and the swimming pool is fabulous. So much to do without even leaving Beacher's Lodge!

This place is a dump, don't stay here

This rental unit was falling apart when we arrived. The towel rack had fallen of the wall and was sitting on the back of the toilet tank. Toilet paper hanger was dangling on one screw and ready to fall off. Door handle was coming off the door. Sliding door screen was off the tracks and leaning on the door. To top it off the water heater was not working. Curtain in bedroom window is too small for the window, making privacy impossible and allowing bright light into the room.

We were told that the unit had recently been renovated. If that is accurate, the owners got ripped off because the workmanship is terrible.

VRBO advertises WiFi but we could not access it with the network ID and password provided. The only place that we could log in was in the rental lobby. If that is all that is available, it should be clearly indicated in the listing for this property.

This property is rated "bronze by VRBO but a "copper" rating would be more accurate.

Beach boardwalk security access code provided was out of date, and did not work. Fortunately another guest provided the correct code.

When we asked a customer service agent if bicycle racks were available we were told that they were not, so the bikes were left at home. As it turns out, there are bike racks on the premises.

Having stayed in Vacation Rental Pro's properties 4-5 times in the past, we had always been satisfied. If this had been our first time, it would have been our last.

Fortunately when we requested to be moved to another property, we were very satisfied new one, and ended up having a great vacation.

We are sympathetic toward the upkeep of the house and have made the necessary notes and updates in our system to better handle similar situations in the future. You will be happy to know that the towel rod, tissue rack, the doorknob, and the screen door has been repaired. We were unaware of the WiFi being down and had contacted the appropriate channels to have it fixed. Again, we extensively apologize for any unpleasantness and inconvenience and appreciate your feedback and honesty.

The Pits!

We stayed here 2 weeks; would not recommend this particular unit to anyone. A warning on the bathroom door said "tippy toilet". That was very true. The toilet apparently simply sat on the floor, seemingly unattached to the drain properly!

We understand the Bronze properties were worn, but this was beyond worn; lampshade torn, light bulbs missing (they were replaced with a phone call to maintenance).

The personnel there were very nice, especially housekeeping. The floor plan of this unit simply was far too small for more than one person. The pull out sofa bed had such a thin mattress it was impossible to sleep on.

Would not come to this one again.

This bronze rated unit is in a well cared for complex, outstanding views for sunrise and sunset.

Rated as a bronze unit we were not sure what to expect but when walking in we found everything true to the photos and it was spotless throughout. It is an older unit which will need updating soon but we were very happy with our two week visit, loved the views and location to both the beach and pool.

The refrigerator stopped working but within hours an electrician was there to replace the outlet. The TV also stopped working but by late afternoon the owners showed up with a brand new TV which was larger than the old one. The service was fast, complete and everyone was very professional. The sliding glass door does need some serious professional work or replacement. The handle was broken and the rollers made it very hard to open and close. There were a couple of light bulbs missing but for us that was not an issue, we were there for the beach and took advantage of the great location all day everyday.

The entire complex is well cared for and nearly every room has a fantastic view of the sunrise. It was really nice to be on the beach and not see ANY high rise buildings. Everything is in low profile so you feel like your at the beach and not under a microscope. There are a few places to eat within a very short walk and then about eight miles to the north you can find just about anything you would want. It was nice not having all of that business traffic around where we were staying.

We really enjoyed our stay and found it very relaxing with plenty of nature trails, bike routes, and historical sites to visit when we wanted a break from the beach and swimming. We had a great time and plan to return again.

Perfect little simple place right on the beach.

This was the perfect place for me & the wife to spend 4 days at the beach and a short drive into St. Augustine. A little rustic, older place, but plenty room for 2. Perfect view of the beach and the pool. No complaints.

The location of the property is excellent. However, the property is completely old, dirty, and outdated. The wi-fi was not up and running, and when it was, the service was spotty with poor reception. The bathroom had accumulated dirt and grime on the tile; it only had one thin polyester curtain that let the water flow all over the floor creating a hazard as you stepped out of the shower/bathtub. Both bathroom matts and bedroom matts were filthy. The ceiling fans had not been cleaned and were full of dirt which appeared gooked on from lack of cleaning.The under-cabinet light in the kitchen was not working; the compact stove had two cooking elements- one was small - not working at all and the large one was tilted to one side, so everything cooked unevenly. The balcony glass door could hardly open due to rust/sand and/or missing rollers and almost came off its tracks- another hazard. The balcony screen door could not be used for the same reasons. Small dining table wobbled all the time and the fridge gave out the last day we were there. The sofa's mattress is old and not ideal for use. The bedroom lamps were missing bulbs, as well as the bathroom light fixture. Overall, great location- the property needs SERIOUS updating.
