About Nony Buchanan

We bought Larriberau "en ruines"-no water, no electricity!! in 1989 .We now have an idyllic house in a wonderful position, which many people return to.We visit at least four times a year, and still find it magical.

Please see our website:

Nony Buchanan purchased this farmhouse in 1989

Why Nony Buchanan chose Seissan

A good reason to holiday at Larriberau is that we love it ourselves, and take great pleasure in others who choose to have their holiday in our second home, having a happy comfortable stay, in the knowledge that if they have any problems at all, we will do our very best to rectify these as quickly as possible, so that the enjoyment of the stay can continue unabated.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Outstanding position , sitting high, in amazing countryside, , with MAGICAL views of the Pyrenees when they are out.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Humble and magnificent at the same time.

If you are interested in being in a place that is not a "destination", but is truly french, try Gascony. We did not hear a word of unsolicited English for 10 days.

Nony and Hugh have taken an old set of buildings and turned them into a magnificent getaway. We comfortably had up to 11 people on the property. Our outdoor feasting on the local meats, cheeses and produce will never be forgotten.. Nor were the two evenings we ate indoors at the huge dining table. No one who stayed wanted to leave - the place is that charming and comfortable. The grounds are perfect, with sweeping views of the most quiet countryside I have ever visited. The pool was in perfect shape. I felt compelled to water the plants every other day because they deserved it! You might find a cricket or two in the house, but if that is not your style there is always Disney World. (Go here)

Very special place

  • 5 of 5

This is a very special home, set in the wonderful rolling hills and farmland of the Gers. The property is very well equipped and is a real home from home. Plenty of crockery and cooking utensils, as well as kitchen and laundry essentials, which one often doesn't find in holiday rentals. The beds are really comfortable, with good quality linen. The new shower room is a welcome addition, there is good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The pool is massive and is cleaned once a week. The owner and cleaning ladies could not have been kinder or more helpful and there is plenty of information on things to do and places to eat, which is what we did most of all. Places we recommend as 'must see/do:- Samatan Monday market, the biggest and best in the Gers; Domaine de Bile, (the FlocFarm), producer of an apperitif peculiar to the region. The owner speaks good English, so try a guided tour followed by a tasting of Floc and Armagnac; Mirande is a pretty market town as are any of the bastidee villages; Les Routiers in Masseube for simple good quality low cost French food and wine; Le Papillon in Auch is more formal but the food is excellent; the Patisserie La Tropezienne on the road into Auch has spectacular gateaux and pastries; many of the towns and villages hold festivals at the weekend where you can taste local produce and eat a set meal in the town square -Jegun was particularly good. If you love France, or are new to the country, this property and the region is all you will need.

Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect base to explore the Gers. The beautifully-appointed home offered spacious bedrooms, comfortable public rooms -- equipped with modern conveniences -- fabulous pool, and lovely gardens. Nony was an exceptional host; always quick to reply to our communications. She provided extensive and invaluable recommendations for activities and restaurants nearby. We highly recommend this property!

Paradise in the Gers

  • 5 of 5

We had the most fantastic stay at this amazing house, we have already booked to go back! The house is beautifully furnished and has all you would need. There is so much space and the kitchen is very well equipped. The house was so clean and the pool was amazing. We had lots of outside space for games such as 'tip and run' and French Cricket! We also managed to find a local tennis court in Labejan which had the most incredible panoramic views and was free to use (they gave us the key for the time we had left there). The games barn was brilliant, we had so many games of table tennis, table football and darts.

I can't wait to be back!

Idyllic setting, homely touches

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful villa- with plenty of room for 8 of us. There was lots to amuse us- with the bookshelves of books, cupboards full of games, the games room (with table tennis and table football), swimming pool and the incredible countryside all around us. Amazing to each have our own bathroom. The decor is wonderful- with loads of homely touches, making you feel instantly relaxed. Near to local towns with weekly markets which was wonderful to do our food shopping at and then come home to barbecued french feasts. Views are incredible with snow capped pyrennes in the distance. Lovely place for relaxing, exploring, walking, shopping and spending time in a luxurious, clean house. Perfect for a group holiday.

merveilleuse maison pour un séjour familial très réussi,au calme exceptionnel

  • 4 of 5

Merci !

Larriberau is situated amidst magical rolling countryside with far reaching views and sunflowers! and at the very heart of the Gers in Gascony. The house sits on an escarpment with magnificent views on all sides, outside a small hamlet of three houses. To the South, on a clear day, the Pyrenees-just 50 miles away-are a tantalisingly beautiful sight. The views are truly spectacular, and the sunsets romantic. Amidst such restful country, there's wildlife of all descriptions. But despite the peace, it is not remote. This is the France we all dream of. Peace, quiet roads, the sound of silence. And then good food, and a glass of wine. The excellent vineyards of Madiran and Buzet are not far away, and there is always a good restaurant within easy reach!

Golf: South West France, with its undulating countryside is well endowed with golf courses.

Golf d'Embats is the excellent 18 hole golf course at Auch, the Capital of Gascony, and is a short distance away from Larriberau. Green fees average 35 Euros. There is also a very good retsaurant.

The Golf de Pallane, now an 18 hole course, is built around the grounds of the Chateau at Tillac. Again, you will find an excellent restaurant.

Less demanding are the smaller 9 hole courses at Masseube and Lannemezan.

All these courses are within a short distance of Larriberau.

There is plenty of variety and the courses tend not to be crowded.

Further afield there is an excellent course at Eauze, Golf de Guinlet, and a further course near Toulouse.

There is plenty of variety and the courses tend not to be crowded

The house is generally available from Saturday to Saturday, but the house is also available on different days of the week, and very often for less amount of time than those stated.
