For the price, this house and location were an unbelievable combo! The outside of the house and the pics of the inside don't convey how great this house is. It was just what we needed for a home base for our wedding and is one of so very few wheelchair-accessible houses I could find in a reasonable price range. Our group consisted of a couple grandmas, 2 middle aged couples, 2 single adults, and an 11-year old. Everyone was comfortable and slept well. We came in several cars and it was no problem parking them at this house.
The bedrooms have great, comfortable beds, what looked like fairly new flooring throughout, and excellent bathrooms.
The kitchen was amazing, very clean, and really ready to be used, with a workable selection of cookware and utensils, even spices, newer fixtures. We cooked a meal for our whole group twice with very little confusion. (So much great, fresh seafood to find so close by!!) The layout of the kitchen is perfect, but none of us could understand the height of the counters, which were very tall (4.5 feet?) There were only 2 dish towels.
The upper deck is utterly huge, but has no privacy or much furniture. The fenced patio/deck area below was where we spent so much time. With the door open, there's a great view of the ocean. The layout of the patio area seemed random and tricky to navigate, with various heights of small areas of wooden deck/path, a gravel section outlined in wood, and other gravel areas without a wood border. There was an umbrella but not a table, or many chairs. We did use and enjoy the chimnea. The grill was not commensurate with the size of the house, a small, shallow square one that didn't hold much food. There was charcoal and foil ready to use.
We were there for 2 nights, which wasn't long enough to begin to learn what all of the light switches in the house were for. Some labels might help but I do realize our stay was an especially short one for this kind of property.
Ms. Zanna was so thoughtful and friendly in helping me to make sure this house had what we needed in regard to accessibility, bedrooms, proximity to beach, and sent us a beautiful card after we got back home to congratulate us on getting married at Mexico Beach. Really a great experience! I would recommend this beach to lovers of peaceful settings, and this house to anyone who needs the space and bedrooms it has.
Spent the month of March 2016 at Fins Up. This house is exactly as pictured, large and clean with nice comfortable beds. Has lots of parking room and has a fenced in yard for my fur baby. Is conveniently located right across the street from a public beach access onto a beautiful pet friendly beach. Mr Woods was very quick and efficient in addressing all issues/questions that arose during my stay. Would recommend this house and hope to return again next year.
This was our second year to take a family beach trip which includes 9 adults and 4 children. Last year we stayed in PCB. This year we found this home & it was perfect for our large family. Very spacious, clean & just walk across road to the beach. Was concerned about finding places to eat but found great restaurants to eat each night. We also went to Tyndall Air Force base to buy groceries and even went bowling one day. Parking is a problem at many rentals but we easily parked four vehicles as well as a large boat at the property. Towels are provided but I would suggest you bring extra towels if you have a large family. We had a great time. The property manager was great to work with and very helpful.
The place was even bigger than what I expected from the pictures! We had 13 for a weekend and 8 for the week. There was always plenty of room for everyone. Having 4 bathrooms was great and also a time saver when so many people are trying to get ready! The fully equipped kitchen was one of the main areas we spent time. Beach access is directly across the street. The back deck and side yard were awesome to spend time in/on. Don't forget bug spray at night!! Mrs. Woods was awesome to work with. She was very nice, helpful, and accommodating.
There are some shops and restaurants close by. We utilized the commissary on base to help with food cost.
In February when we tried to rent the house in Mexico Beàch that we always for the month of October we found it had already been rented. I sent the deposi and pet deposit on Fins up for the month of October. In the meanwhile we were able to purchase a home in Port Saint Joe. When I called Mrs. Wood and told she refunded my deposit in full. She was more than gracious and I would recommend this place to anyone.
What a wonderful place! Huge, spacious living areas, massive back deck, everything we needed in the kitchen, and beds were very comfortable. We had 6 adults and 7 kids and more room than we needed.
