Twenty-Six Letters Cottage-a bay home
Located directly on Mobile Bay in Point Clear, Twenty-Six Cottage is a
quiet getaway. With the sounds of the bay, it is a quaint home where you
can enjoy a short getaway or an extended stay.
Twenty-Six is a traditional ground level bay house built when Point Clear was a summer getaway for those seeking to leave the hectic life of the
city and escape to the quiet Eastern Shore.
With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, this home easily sleeps six. (There is also a daybed on the enclosed front porch for that extra little one.) A well appointed living room complete with a “lodge-like” wood burning fireplace, offers a great
place to catch up on the news or pull out a board game.
When its meal time, enjoy a more casual
lunch in the eat-in kitchen or head to the dining room for a quiet evening meal while catching a glimpse of the bay.
You might find your favorite spot will be the enclosed “front porch” with a quiet area for reading or simply watching the bay. The Florida room is not to be missed!
Sipping on a morning cup of coffee while enjoying the bay breeze is definitely a relaxing experience.
Our cottage offers many areas to gather for a quiet meal or a social afternoon watching the sunset as the pelicans soar south for the night.
Point Clear is a great jumping off point for many local activities. Boutique shopping, antiquing, or enjoying the arts in nearby Fairhope is a popular
destination for locals as well as tourists. Fairhope also offers a public fishing pier complete with a restaurant during the summer season. (There
are as least twenty great restaurants in and around Fairhope.)
If you are interested in history, the Marriott Grand Hotel offers a glimpse into the old
south “grand hotel” complete with a dedicated Civil War cemetery located on the world class golf course. (It is not the only golf course nearby;
several other well appointed courses are within a ten minute drive.) For more history, try a tour of the U.S.S. Alabama, a World War II battleship only a 25 minute drive.
A walking path is only steps out of the door for miles of walking or biking. Slip down Zundel’s Lane in “downtown” Point Clear (known as Lover's Lane to the locals) and catch the boardwalk for a half mile stroll along the bay to the Marriott’s
Grand Hotel. Viewing the bay homes from the bayside is makes an interesting afternoon. For a longer walk on the beach take a short forty minute drive to Gulf Shores and beachcomb for miles on the white sandy beaches.
Once you arrive at Twenty-Six Cottage, you can allow your mind to wonder as you relax, return to the simpler times, and aimlessly fish from our sixty-five foot fishing pier.
