Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bath located on Mobile Bay, great views, fireplace, & fishing pier

Twenty-Six Letters Cottage-a bay home

Located directly on Mobile Bay in Point Clear, Twenty-Six Cottage is a

quiet getaway. With the sounds of the bay, it is a quaint home where you

can enjoy a short getaway or an extended stay.

Twenty-Six is a traditional ground level bay house built when Point Clear was a summer getaway for those seeking to leave the hectic life of the

city and escape to the quiet Eastern Shore.

With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, this home easily sleeps six. (There is also a daybed on the enclosed front porch for that extra little one.) A well appointed living room complete with a “lodge-like” wood burning fireplace, offers a great

place to catch up on the news or pull out a board game.

When its meal time, enjoy a more casual

lunch in the eat-in kitchen or head to the dining room for a quiet evening meal while catching a glimpse of the bay.

You might find your favorite spot will be the enclosed “front porch” with a quiet area for reading or simply watching the bay. The Florida room is not to be missed!

Sipping on a morning cup of coffee while enjoying the bay breeze is definitely a relaxing experience.

Our cottage offers many areas to gather for a quiet meal or a social afternoon watching the sunset as the pelicans soar south for the night.

Point Clear is a great jumping off point for many local activities. Boutique shopping, antiquing, or enjoying the arts in nearby Fairhope is a popular

destination for locals as well as tourists. Fairhope also offers a public fishing pier complete with a restaurant during the summer season. (There

are as least twenty great restaurants in and around Fairhope.)

If you are interested in history, the Marriott Grand Hotel offers a glimpse into the old

south “grand hotel” complete with a dedicated Civil War cemetery located on the world class golf course. (It is not the only golf course nearby;

several other well appointed courses are within a ten minute drive.) For more history, try a tour of the U.S.S. Alabama, a World War II battleship only a 25 minute drive.

A walking path is only steps out of the door for miles of walking or biking. Slip down Zundel’s Lane in “downtown” Point Clear (known as Lover's Lane to the locals) and catch the boardwalk for a half mile stroll along the bay to the Marriott’s

Grand Hotel. Viewing the bay homes from the bayside is makes an interesting afternoon. For a longer walk on the beach take a short forty minute drive to Gulf Shores and beachcomb for miles on the white sandy beaches.

Once you arrive at Twenty-Six Cottage, you can allow your mind to wonder as you relax, return to the simpler times, and aimlessly fish from our sixty-five foot fishing pier.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Debbie and David for letting us stay in cottage 26 while we were escaping hurricane Irma in Miami. The cottage was very clean and neat. You provided us with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful sunset every evening over Mobile Bay. Would highly recommend this charming cottage.

Over-the-Bay Charming

  • 5 of 5

This cottage takes us back to the charming style of historical Over-the-Bay vacation homes, with traditional bayside decorations and lovely original paintings. We enjoyed the large sun porch for our coffee in the morning and found the living room large and cozy at the same time. The bedrooms were very nice and I can attest to the comfy mattresses of the bigger beds. The house was well-equipped with all the necessities and our hostess Debbie was very responsive. The water view is lovely, wharf is some for fishing, but the property is not an ideal place for swimming, which we did not need. The house turned out to be great option for our family and I recommend it!

Cute Cottage on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Point Clear. Although the weather didn't cooperate, we did find time to fish and crab on the bay and enjoy the beautiful views. The cottage was just right for our stay and allowed for fun family games at night. Many great places to enjoy the view and read or just take a nap. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare some meals at home although there are many great restaurants within 15 minutes drive. We will definitely be back!

Precious cottage

  • 5 of 5

We live in Fairhope and rented this cottage for family from out of town. This home was perfect for my 80 year old father as it is ground level. The home is so interesting. It has established landscaping, fruit trees, and an incredible sun room with plantings incorporated along the perimeter of the room. Just super cool. It has much of the original features of the early Fairhope cottage living. My father loved the old stove with the pilot light. My sister and her daughter and grandson spent time crabbing on the pier. The owner was absolutely amazing. She just took care of every detail and helped when my dad got locked out, and is mailing my sister's camera card she left. My brother in law's first word when he saw the home was "precious". Adorable home, peaceful.
