About Jacqueline Schneider
Jacqueline welcomes you at her own house, which is actually her childhood home. She comes from very old family of fishermen of Biarritz. She is passionate about her city. Throughout Biarritz she is known as 'Madame Chapeau' because she was a milliner, like her mother before her, for more than 60 years in the city center. She has designed and decorated the heads of many French and Spanish women for years. She still has a few hats in her living room and she will be happy to let you try them. She is always happy to share with you a story or two about Biarritz and its history, if you are interested. Jacqueline she is a passionate supporter of Rugby and you can easily find the house because she has the flags of the Biarritz Rugby club 'Biarritz Olympique' at her window.
Jacqueline Schneider purchased this Apartment in 1905

A very small and noisy apartment. We booked for a week but left after two nights!
This apartment was not as it was depicted in the photographs on the website.
The apartment was much smaller than we anticipated. Apart from the bathroom and kitchenette the only other room contains just the bed and dinning table and chairs, nowhere comfy to sit.
The towels provided were only hand towels.
The cleanliness and appearance of the terrace bore no resemblance to that conveyed in the photographs on the website. The terrace furniture was very dirty as was the terrace itself.
Another major problem is parking. All surrounding on-street parking is charged.
The most severe problem with this apartment however is the noise. We did anticipate some level of noise given the central location but the intensity and persistence of the noise was excessive. The outside terraces of the surrounding bars produced considerable noise until they closed at about 2.00am the noise then continued however from drunken customers who congregated in the square opposite the apartment. This continued until about 4.00am. When we spoke to the owner's son he confirmed that this was a problem and he had, in the past, spoken to the owner of the nearest bar! but clearly with no affect! At about 6.00am the noise from drunken revellers was then replaced by the noise from public service vehicles emptying bins and cleaning the streets. Closing the windows and shutter had little or no impact on the external noise. Internally there was a constant drone from the TV in the upstairs apartment which also continued until the early hours.
After two nights without sleep we informed the owner that we were leaving immediately even though we had booked for a week. Our security deposit was refunded but the owner refused to refund any of the rental charge as she felt that our issues of complaint were not her fault!

"This apartment is compact but has everything you would need, it is lovely and clean and in a great location. The big terrace is great for relaxing on in the evening. We enjoyed our stay here very much."
"Hi, we were here again. ...
"Hi, we were here again. After the renovation the apartment is very quiet (you can't hear noice from the street), more light is coming in due to big windows. Kitchen is very handy & well equipped and bathroom nice. Excellent location and surroundings. Recommended warmly."

"Second time here. We love the place and surroundings. The terrace is the best of the town."
"Location was wonderful, ...
"Location was wonderful, short walk to the beaches and to restaurants. Even if the apartment was meant for 2 adults, we managed to stay there with 2 kids. Tight, but nice. And the terrace was the best thing."
"Lägenheten ligger på top...
"Lägenheten ligger på toppläge, mer centralt än så här blir det inte i Biarritz - mellan gamla hamnen och grand plage. Man ser havet från terrassen som är underbar att sitta och äta vid på kvällen. Hyresvärdarna är jättesnälla och mycket välkomnande. Lägenheten är gammaldags men välfungerande och söt. Perfekt för ett par. Vi längtar tillbaka!

To pick-up the keys:
Arriving at the Airport of Biarritz:
The house is on the street Rue Alcide Augey in the center of Biarritz . It takes about 10-15 minutes by taxi or bus. It costs between 12-20 Euros by taxi depending on the traffic.
If you arrive by car:
Exit the Morotway at the Exit Biarritz. Follow the direction to the town center "Centre Ville" until the main square called Place Clemenceau (with the Galleries Lafayette). Be aware that is one way street. At the end of the square you will find a fork, take the road on the left called Rue Gambetta and then the first street on the right called Rue Alcide Augey where you can pick-up the key.
We have prepared a list of good restaurants and itineraries to discover the beautiful surroundings. The program of the events in the region and the maps of the main towns are also available.
