The charm of a heritage home with air conditioning, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The bedroom is spacious with a loveseat in the separate seating area. Large sitting room, comfortably furnished also accommodates the dining area. Roomy well appointed kitchen. The bathroom overlooks a very private garden.

The suite has its own private patio with BBQ, gazebo and seating area, along with access to the rest of the garden for relaxing or for a bocce game on the lawn.

Access to secure bike storage, with work bench and compressor.

I am an avid cyclist who doesn't have enough time to ride, but I'm working on that. I live and work on site, so I'm available when you need me. I'm also very active in the community being on the Board of the local Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce and a small Charitable Foundation.

Why Gay Wise chose Vancouver Island

I loved this house from the moment I first saw it 25 years ago. At that time it was the home of The Village Bed & Breakfast. The house and garden are right in the Village but amazingly private. Every day I think how fortunate I am to become part of the history of this house, to have the opportunity and pleasure of maintaining and restoring it.

What makes this apartment unique

Right in the middle of the action in Shawnigan Lake, but very private. A stone's throw from the public beach on the Lake. Bus stop within a block. Private parking for one car.

Beautiful, centrally located, and cozy

Gay's place is wonderful-she was a great hostess, and the suite had more than we needed. We also loved the coffee shop next door-that was a nice touch. The air conditioning was superb-and we loved sitting out in the garden BBQ-ing in the evening. Finally-it'll we appreciated being able to bring our dog Barkley along-the suite was set up well for a small dog. I hope we get to come back-we will have fond family memories from our time here.

We enjoyed our stay with Gay very much! She is a very pleasant host. She has provided a very cozy and well provisioned space for visitors to spend some time just relaxing, reading or getting away. Space includes ample cooling for hot summer days too.

Perfect location for exploring the area

Lovely heritage home centrally located at shawnigan lake. It had all the mod cons and was perfect for our stay. Our pup loved being able to be outside in he garden. The air conditioning was an added bonus as the room is at the top of the house. This would be unbearable without ac. Nice feature that it is in both the kitchen/living area as well as the bedroom. The bakery and coffee shop next door were lovely. There isn't a real stove (cook top) but we didn't need one. We barbecued outside a couple of nights and then did take out from the Chippery across the road one night. The area has lots to see and do. We explored cowichan lake, hiked a few provincial parks, went to chemanius, and explored some of the local wineries. We also went to the west coast of the island and stopped in Victoria for dinner. Gay was a nice hostess and available if we needed her. We would stay here again if our travels took us this way.

Comfortable and cozy

We enjoyed our stay, very comfortable and generous space, had every thing that we needed. Bedroom and living area big enough to not be on tripping on each other, though need to watch sloped ceilings as you enter/exit the bedroom for those on the taller side. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom. We'll be looking to return next time we're in the area.

Beautiful, charming, and perfect for our holiday!!

This was a relaxing, happy retreat, close to so many wonderful places to explore. It was a perfect "basecamp" for our adventures! At the end of each day, we could also just relax and unwind in the rather charming apartment or beautiful garden. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, but there was also great coffeeshop next door. We were able to bring our beagle with us, which was much appreciated!! Many thanks to Gay for the wonderful hospitality!
