About Anne & Joyce

A Brit and an American happily married for 25 years, we love the area. Its a good life. Come see for yourself this special place.

Anne & Joyce purchased this house in 2005

Why Anne & Joyce chose San Francisco Bay Area

Centrally located for Napa, East Bay and San Francisco close to transportation. All amenities within a 5-10 min drive. Yet the hill exudes the illusion of seclusion and the house is charming beyond belief. Then there are the million dollar views! We've lived on the hill (5mins away) since 1999 and have always loved our special spot. We purchased the cottage in 2006 as an investment rental, with dreams of one day living in it when we downsize, still working on that!! So until that happy day it will be available for travelers from all parts of the globe.Built in 1948 by a poet and an opera singer from Hungary, this artsy cottage is made from recycled wood from the Richmond Shipyards (is this one of the first eco houses???). We love this house, it's natural setting is perfect, we are drawn to the open water view all day and night. We hope you feel the same and enjoy quality time here.

What makes this house unique

Charming, comfy and convenient you have everything you need here and some.. It's quiet and unique, feels like country living yet moments away from the metropolis. Abundant wildlife, all the animals, birds and even reptiles you would expect to see here in Northern California. You will see more deer than people on this special hill!!! We love the fact the cottage is surrounded by heritage oaks and how lovely the views are walking around the hill. The location is perfect for access to all of the east bay, San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Napa, Marin; all within 30 minutes. After a busy day,we have a great place for you to come back to. Unwind, relax, rest and recharge so that you can go back out and do it again tomorrow!!

Perfect location for a quiet retreat close to everything we wanted to see!

My husband and I spent 5 days in this cottage. Waking up to the view every morning was amazing. We are from the East Coast so we found it to be the perfect location to explore San Francisco & Berkeley. Everything in the home was as described. The bed was super comfortable & the Italian restaurant nearby was amazing! This stop was part of our West Coast honeymoon and we are already discussing when to come back!

Amazing view, charming spot and very comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

This place felt like a wonderful secret. We had no idea such an intriguing, rustic spot existed in the Bay Area. The view was extraordinary, and we loved sitting out on the big deck enjoying the wildlife that surrounded us. The cottage was charming, with a very comfortable bed, and a great kitchen. Our hosts were warm and welcoming. We couldn't have been happier. We will definitely be back!

Amazing views and great location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 19 mos daughter and myself had the pleasure of staying 2 nights in Anneand Joyce's cottage. I thought the cottage was cute and quaint and was supplied with things that one could forget while packing for vacation, my favorite thing about the cottage had to be the views, they were absolute spectacular!!! It was nice to sit out on the deck with a glass of wine taking the view in. We did not get a lot of downtime at the cottage since we spent the time exploring San Francisco. The location to SF was perfect a quick 25 min and then your looking at the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. My family and I loved SF and went to see the Painted Ladies and the actual Tanner house (loved the show Full House) and we explored Pier 39 which was awesome.

To those who read reviews I highly recommend Anne and Joyce's cottage!!

Thanks again Anne and Joyce you made our trip!

Cute Cabin with a View!

  • 4 of 5

We had a fabulous time. Bed was comfortable, linens & towels were serviceable and the size was perfect for a long weekend in the Eastbay. We saw a show at the Greek Theatre, had dinner at OMCA, went shopping in the Haight, and visited three Botanical Gardens in 2 days. Quiet, secluded and not really that far from everywhere we wanted to go. Bonus was a sighting of a doe with two fawns early one morning. Weather was perfect and the view was outstanding!
