About the property

Amazing Ocean View-private Home With Pool

Welcome to Komohana Hale! This two-story Vacation Home has a private pool with waterfall, large deck area (partial covered) with beautiful ocean views and large high beam ceilings.

Two master suites (King Beds) are on separate ends of the house open to the lanai and pool area. The third bedroom is a large open loft area. It has a closet and a half bath, as well as a lanai with a great ocean view. There is a trundle bed available. This area is perfect for kids, however may not be suitable for adults wanting privacy.

The main living area is beautifully tiled. The kitchen has granite counter-tops and includes a large walk in pantry.

Great location! Close to town and the beach is less than 3 miles from the house.

The Kailua-Kona Coast has the most colorful and spectacular pink, lavender, and orange sunsets in Hawaii. Maybe you’ll be lucky and spot the famous 'Green Flash” at sunset, as the sun dips behind the horizon. You can watch the incredible Kona sunsets right from one of the decks or the lanai, as well as the cruise ships, para-sailing, whales and dolphins.

The Kailua-Kona Historical Village is a short drive from Komohana Hale. The Village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water’s edge. Some of the activities you can find in the Village and nearby are: beaches, luau’s, farmer’s markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There are also several great golf courses nearby. There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach or by the pool!

Please feel free to contact us directly to find out how we can help make your Hawaiian Vacation Dreams come true!

Magnificent and Ideal Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I echo much of what other reviewers have said: Great for our family of 5 and the many larger family meals we had on the lanai. The pool was a godsend (4.5 ft everwhere!) for all day swiming. It meant we didn't HAVE to go anywhere if we didn't want to. The waterfall turned on every morning at 8:30 and as the day went on, the pool became so perfectly warm that by the time it turned off after sunset, it was so glorious to take evening dips. IT was also lovely to leave all the windows and doors open all day and it felt so luxurious and breezy and private. We lucked out as the house next door that overlooks the pool was under construction, so there was even more privacy. Another thing to mention: the plants! SO many beautiful plumeria, bougainvillea and other flowering plant so perfectly situated to frame every view and so well maintained. We harvested new plumerias every day to make little leis. We were also lucky to have such a talented capable pool company to keep the pool clean and perfect. :) Will definitely come back next spring! Thank you so much!

Family Wedding Trip

  • 5 of 5

The house was much bigger than we thought it would be. Loved the two master suites. The bedroom at the front of the house has great breezes and two sliders to the pool deck and a TV. The back bedroom also has a slider to the pool deck and a HUGE closet. We spent most of our free time playing and soaking in the pool...We brought the target game. And purchased some noodles to float on. The neighborhood is nice, even though there is a house being built next door, it was peaceful. The view of the sunsets were something we looked forward to each night. We saw the arrival of the ships coming into Kona from the poolside and from the balcony.

Overall, it was an awesome vacation home and we were the envy of the family that stayed elsewhere. We will be back! Aloha

Great vacation thanks to a wonderful house rental

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our group of 2 couples and 2 6 month old babies. Generous master suites at opposing ends of the house worked well for us. The pool and deck area are amazing with lots of seating and shade all day for those that want it. The whole house is amazingly stocked with crockery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, beach gear and pool toys. We wouldn't change a thing and will most certainly be beck

Hi Krista,

Thanks so much for a wonderful time. My family and I spent 12 days in this "home". We've stayed in several different houses in Kona and this one felt like Home. Great view, location and setting. Close to town with a nice elevation and view. We absolutely loved it. We will be back.

Thanks again for your help and attention to detail, Krista. It was a pleasure dealing with you. Aloha!

Already planning our next stay

  • 5 of 5

The entire reservation process was easy and Krista and her team kept us up to date with reminder emails. We arrived on an hour earlier than the noted checkin time and I called the office and Krista came right over and ensured that the house was clean and ready to go. The house looks small from the outside but is really spacious on the inside. Our daughter was in the pool within 5 minutes of arriving at the rental and everyday after thereafter. The pool was really a key part of our stay. It allowed our "fish" to be in the pool while I was cooking dinner or just hanging out at the house in the morning as we were planning our day. The house is centrally located to many things in Hawaii and close enough to town but just far enough away for peace and quiet. The house has everything that you could want in terms of kitchen, beach gear & linens. We did find the ants to be frustrating at first but it is Hawaii, when you pick up groceries get some ziplock baggies for everything you would leave out in the pantry (chips, cookies, crackers) and problem solved. The maintenance guy got back to us right away due to an electrical issue and they sent over an electrician, he was there a short time and took care of the problem. This house made our stay in Hawaii feel like we were at home. We are already planning our return to this amazing property, by far a great VRBO experience.

Pool made it worth while

  • 4 of 5

Overall a nice, clean house. Ants got to be a bit too much. There were a few problems such as dishwasher didn't always work (the part where you put in detergent didn't always open) and the toilet in the master bathroom needs repair but overall an enjoyable place to say.

The Kona region of the Big Island goes beyond Hawaii's traditional offerings. Sure, there's ample sun, surf and sandy beaches, but the Kona coast features so much more. Step back in time and explore Kona's history, taste some of the world's richest coffee and view marine animals in the clear waters of the surrounding Pacific Ocean. These activities and more a wait along the Big Island's Kona coast.

Location: Kona is one of seven regions on Hawaii's Big Island, encompassing a 60-mile stretch of the western coast. The Big Island sits at the southeastern end of Hawaii's island chain, and is 4,038 square miles, double the combined size of Hawaii's other seven islands.

History: Kailua-Kona, also called Kailua-Kona Town, is a city in the Kona region and was, at one point, home to King Kamehameha in the early 1800s. The Historic Kailua Village in Kailua-Kona pays homage to Kamehameha and other Hawaiian royalty with tours of historic sites such as Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church. Also located on the Kona coast is Kealakekua Bay, where captain James Cook first landed on the Big Island and eventually was killed, in 1779.

Historical Parks: Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park has a monument to Captain James Cook. Near Kealakekua Bay is the 180-acre Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, which was once a sacred place of refuge. The Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park is a 1,160-acre park just north of Kailua-Kona that is home to historic temples and ancient petroglyphs.

Beach Activities: There are many white-sand beaches and ocean activities available on the Kona coast, from snorkeling and surfing to whale watching and dinner cruises. The waters along the Kona coast are calm and clear, providing perfect visibility of green sea turtles, fish and other marine life while snorkeling and scuba diving. There are surfing schools that offer individual and group lessons, sport fishing charters, dinner cruises and boat tours that will put you up close to whales, dolphins, manta rays and green sea turtles.

Things to Do: There's plenty to do in Kona aside from beach and ocean activities. Kona's small towns have many shops and galleries. Take a tour up to the 14,000-foot summit of nearby Mauna Kea, either during the daytime, to enjoy spectacular views, or at night, to take in some stargazing. Visit Kona in October to take in the annual Ironman World Championship, a long-distance triathlon that attracts some of the world's top athletes.

Kona Coffee: Kona has many excellent restaurants that offer dishes featuring fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean, but the real treat on this part of the island is Kona coffee. There are many coffee farms in Kona, the only place where Kona coffee beans are grown to produce 100 percent pure Kona coffee. The conditions in Kona are just right for growing these rare beans--elevation, constant cloud cover and rich, volcanic soil. Aside from taking home some of this famous beverage, visitors can tour many of the area's coffee farms, and visit the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
