About the property

Amazing Ocean View-private Home With Pool

Welcome to Komohana Hale! This two-story Vacation Home has a private pool with waterfall, large deck area (partial covered) with beautiful ocean views and large high beam ceilings.

Two master suites (King Beds) are on separate ends of the house open to the lanai and pool area. The third bedroom is a large open loft area. It has a closet and a half bath, as well as a lanai with a great ocean view. There is a trundle bed available. This area is perfect for kids, however may not be suitable for adults wanting privacy.

The main living area is beautifully tiled. The kitchen has granite counter-tops and includes a large walk in pantry.

Great location! Close to town and the beach is less than 3 miles from the house.

The Kailua-Kona Coast has the most colorful and spectacular pink, lavender, and orange sunsets in Hawaii. Maybe you’ll be lucky and spot the famous 'Green Flash” at sunset, as the sun dips behind the horizon. You can watch the incredible Kona sunsets right from one of the decks or the lanai, as well as the cruise ships, para-sailing, whales and dolphins.

The Kailua-Kona Historical Village is a short drive from Komohana Hale. The Village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water’s edge. Some of the activities you can find in the Village and nearby are: beaches, luau’s, farmer’s markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There are also several great golf courses nearby. There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach or by the pool!

Please feel free to contact us directly to find out how we can help make your Hawaiian Vacation Dreams come true!

Great location. Great house.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, mother-in-law and 3 young kids (7,5,3) loved this house during our 7 day stay. There are two king bed bedrooms on either side of the house and a loft with two twin beds. One bedroom has a futon which can be used as an additional bed for kids.

The kitchen is well equipped with any appliances and pots, pans and utensils you may need. Lots of left over spices and other essentials from previous guests.

There is an industrial size washer and dryer, perfect for swim suits and loads of towels.

The living space is comfortable. A large screen tv with couch and two chairs is perfect for relaxing after a fun filled day (note: it took some time to figure out how to run the tv, dish network and receiver!)

The best part of the house is the pool. At 4’ deep the pool was perfect for our 7 yo but required life jackets for the younger kids. It didn’t stop them or us adults from spending hours outside enjoying the water and lounging in the many chairs and chaise lounges.

I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking in Kailua-Kona!!

Great extended stay

Pool was great the birds are a natural alarm clock but not an annoyance. Great neighbourhood. Pictures online are dated as the house has had upgrades since they were taken.

Wonderful relaxing peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Myself and family enjoyed our stay very much. Its very well laid out for privacy other than the fact that the doors aren't solid and of course the windows are always open for fresh air. We found the home very functional for family get togethers. The loft area could be more private and the bed should definitely be replaced, as should all the sheets. These things did not deter us however, from returning a second time. The pool is wonderful and views fantastic. Spectacular sunsets every night and you can hear the surf. Close proximity to the Hwy and easy access to Alii Drive for a cruise along the waterfront. Having been to Kona many times, a private home is definitely the way to go. Thank you Kelly for all your help and supplying us with a crib. We would return again. Aloha and Mahalo!

Lovely Kona shangrila!

  • 4 of 5

The house was nice and clean, very comfortable, bright, spacious and airy. Pool and views were fabulous! Wonderful to sit around the pool every day and just relax with a drink and a pupu. 🤗? Location was great, close to highway access.

Our only issue was with the tv not working for us and the internet went off a lot. We also couldn't get music to play (which apparently was through the XBox). We made do.

Would love to return to this shangrila! Thank you.

Magnificent and Ideal Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I echo much of what other reviewers have said: Great for our family of 5 and the many larger family meals we had on the lanai. The pool was a godsend (4.5 ft everwhere!) for all day swiming. It meant we didn't HAVE to go anywhere if we didn't want to. The waterfall turned on every morning at 8:30 and as the day went on, the pool became so perfectly warm that by the time it turned off after sunset, it was so glorious to take evening dips. IT was also lovely to leave all the windows and doors open all day and it felt so luxurious and breezy and private. We lucked out as the house next door that overlooks the pool was under construction, so there was even more privacy. Another thing to mention: the plants! SO many beautiful plumeria, bougainvillea and other flowering plant so perfectly situated to frame every view and so well maintained. We harvested new plumerias every day to make little leis. We were also lucky to have such a talented capable pool company to keep the pool clean and perfect. :) Will definitely come back next spring! Thank you so much!

Family Wedding Trip

  • 5 of 5

The house was much bigger than we thought it would be. Loved the two master suites. The bedroom at the front of the house has great breezes and two sliders to the pool deck and a TV. The back bedroom also has a slider to the pool deck and a HUGE closet. We spent most of our free time playing and soaking in the pool...We brought the target game. And purchased some noodles to float on. The neighborhood is nice, even though there is a house being built next door, it was peaceful. The view of the sunsets were something we looked forward to each night. We saw the arrival of the ships coming into Kona from the poolside and from the balcony.

Overall, it was an awesome vacation home and we were the envy of the family that stayed elsewhere. We will be back! Aloha

The Kona region of the Big Island goes beyond Hawaii's traditional offerings. Sure, there's ample sun, surf and sandy beaches, but the Kona coast features so much more. Step back in time and explore Kona's history, taste some of the world's richest coffee and view marine animals in the clear waters of the surrounding Pacific Ocean. These activities and more a wait along the Big Island's Kona coast.

Location: Kona is one of seven regions on Hawaii's Big Island, encompassing a 60-mile stretch of the western coast. The Big Island sits at the southeastern end of Hawaii's island chain, and is 4,038 square miles, double the combined size of Hawaii's other seven islands.

History: Kailua-Kona, also called Kailua-Kona Town, is a city in the Kona region and was, at one point, home to King Kamehameha in the early 1800s. The Historic Kailua Village in Kailua-Kona pays homage to Kamehameha and other Hawaiian royalty with tours of historic sites such as Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church. Also located on the Kona coast is Kealakekua Bay, where captain James Cook first landed on the Big Island and eventually was killed, in 1779.

Historical Parks: Kealakekua Bay State Historical Park has a monument to Captain James Cook. Near Kealakekua Bay is the 180-acre Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park, which was once a sacred place of refuge. The Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park is a 1,160-acre park just north of Kailua-Kona that is home to historic temples and ancient petroglyphs.

Beach Activities: There are many white-sand beaches and ocean activities available on the Kona coast, from snorkeling and surfing to whale watching and dinner cruises. The waters along the Kona coast are calm and clear, providing perfect visibility of green sea turtles, fish and other marine life while snorkeling and scuba diving. There are surfing schools that offer individual and group lessons, sport fishing charters, dinner cruises and boat tours that will put you up close to whales, dolphins, manta rays and green sea turtles.

Things to Do: There's plenty to do in Kona aside from beach and ocean activities. Kona's small towns have many shops and galleries. Take a tour up to the 14,000-foot summit of nearby Mauna Kea, either during the daytime, to enjoy spectacular views, or at night, to take in some stargazing. Visit Kona in October to take in the annual Ironman World Championship, a long-distance triathlon that attracts some of the world's top athletes.

Kona Coffee: Kona has many excellent restaurants that offer dishes featuring fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean, but the real treat on this part of the island is Kona coffee. There are many coffee farms in Kona, the only place where Kona coffee beans are grown to produce 100 percent pure Kona coffee. The conditions in Kona are just right for growing these rare beans--elevation, constant cloud cover and rich, volcanic soil. Aside from taking home some of this famous beverage, visitors can tour many of the area's coffee farms, and visit the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
