“Riesling Retreat” is situated on the scenic East side of Lamoka Lake. From the moment you arrive you will love our lakefront location. The brick walk welcomes you into an updated cottage with an expansive covered deck. An updated kitchen with a gas stove and large island for eating or food preparation is perfect for this vacation get-away. With warm lake water for swimming, excellent fishing and boating and a great central location to the wine trails (within 20- 45 minutes), you can’t go wrong!
The Master bedroom has a king size bed and an attached full bath. There is a large closet and a dresser for storage. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and overlooks the water. One of the two couches also has a queen size pull out bed for additional sleeping space if needed. There is an additional full bath off the kitchen with a full sized washer and dryer.
The cottage has a nice open floor plan with a cozy living room and an additional seating area situated in front of sliding glass doors that open up to a spacious covered porch with magnificent lake views. Heat and air conditioner available, but we asked that our guests use sparingly as these can be costly to run.

Things to Do in the Finger Lakes: Apart from all the obvious lake activities, if you love wine and wine tastings, then you will be in heaven!! This cottage sits central to the spectacular Finger Lakes wine region which boasts 250+ extraordinary wineries, many of which are also micro-breweries. Enjoy a wine tour with friends and family or have a quiet lunch at one of the many winery restaurants along the lakes.
If it is nature and hiking are your thing, Watkins Glen State Park offers the most amazing waterfalls and gorge hiking trails you have ever seen! Also, we are located approximately 15 minutes from the famous Watkins Glen International Speedway. For the Golfers; there are two public golf courses within 15 - 20 minutes.
Kurt and Gina Bischoff were married in 1999, and have 3 children. They were both born and raised in the Finger Lakes area, but have moved for job opportunities to the greater Atlanta area. They get home as often as their busy lives will allow and love spending time on Lamoka Lake with their extended family!
Kurt & Gina Bischoff purchased this cottage in 2014
After growing up in the Finger Lakes region, we were very familiar with all the area lakes. Lamoka/Waneta Lakes are so much warmer than the other lakes that is makes it an ideal location to swim and boat. Also, since they are not official finger lakes (referred to as the sister lakes), they are less commercialized and a little more quiet. We just adore these lakes and could not see ourselves anywhere else!
Nice quiet location on the lake. the water is mostly calm so good for kayaking or canoeing . No beach at this location. The cabin is a little bit tired but you have everything you need for your stay. Close to Watkins Glen, Corning and lots of wineries. Overall a relaxing stay.
What a great house! It was perfect for two couples staying for a long weekend. The cabin was clean and homey. And plenty of room to spread out! The deck provided a place to drink coffee in the morning and wine at night - and to watch the wildlife on the lake - always entertaining. Thanks to Kurt Sr. for the welcome! The cabin was everything we were looking for! And right in the middle of all the Finger Lakes activities! Thanks Kurt and Gina for sharing your lovely lake home!
The house was clean and accomadating for us. It was nice being at the lake as it was quiet and beautiful weather. We would stay there again.
We stayed here for a week and it was wonderful. The house was very clean, bright, and well maintained with wonderful amenities. While it may seem small on paper, the space is very well utilized and accommodated the 5 of us wonderfully.
The back porch is marvelous with a wonderful view of the lake. The yard is BIG for a lake property. The dock is right on the level, making it very easy to come in and out for the kids. The owners have also cleared out the lake weeds making a nice swimming space with space for jumping and cannon balls.
Kurt's father was very helpful, getting us settled and then being very respectful of our space. But its nice to know that someone is near if you need anything. Even the neighbors were very lovely, with good winery recommendations. And the lake location lets you visit both Seneca and Keuka lake wineries, which is a bonus.
Thank you again for a lovely time. We would highly recommend this home for a vacation. It was marvelous.
What a great house! Perfect for a family of four. We enjoyed exploring the lake via the canoe provided, fished off the dock and loved swimming in the lake! The cabin was clean and homey. The deck provided a place to watch a couple of rain storms roll over the lake and enjoy some georgeous sunsets. We enjoyed the suggestions of places nearby for dining that Kurt Sr. gave us.
If you don't mind a little work, take the canoe across the lake to the island on the north end of the lake. It has great, sandy swimming areas and a rope swing.
We look forward to returning and staying at Riesling Retreat again!
What a relaxing vacation we had while at the Riesling Retreat. It was so peaceful. The cottage was clean and comfortable, we felt right at home.
The view of the lake was fantastic. Drinking coffee on the front deck, watching the small fishing boats and the ducks. Then going for a trip around the lake in the canoe. It was so nice to get away from the city. We didn't even turn the TV on the whole time we were there.
The location was perfect, in between Seneca and Keuka Lake. Only a short drive to several local wineries and restaurants. Scuteri's Cannoli Connection in Watkins Glen was a wonderful find!
Only drawback was that there is no phone service unless you have a specific carrier. Our cell phones did not get any reception. But the WiFi worked perfectly.
Can't wait to visit again next year. Thanks Kurt and Gina.
