A delightful retreat. We were there for two weeks in August 2014 and could not recommend it more highly. It’s hard to know where to start. The house has been wonderfully designed and has lovely wood trim and highlights throughout. The bathrooms are spacious and the kitchen has state of the art appliances. We did a lot of cooking and found the kitchen easy to work in.
While the inside of the house is lovely, the real treat is the deck, which sits atop the screened porch. From there you have a wonderful view of Chilmark Pond as well as the Atlantic Ocean. It’s the perfect place for the first cup of coffee, or a glass of wine before dinner. We loved watching the full moon rise over the ocean. But the house is only the beginning of the fun. A short walk takes you to Chilmark Pond, where two kayaks are available to explore the estuary. To get to the ocean beach, you wade a few feet across a narrow sliver of the pond, or take one of the kayaks. The beach, which stretches endlessly, is beautiful and not at all crowded. To the right, you can walk all the way to Lucy Vincent Beach, with its interesting sandstone formations.
We were a group of six – my husband and I with our two adult children and their significant others. The house was perfect for us. We can’t wait to return.

Privacy plus proximity to pond, creek and beach guarantee easy access to wading, kayaking, beach walking (without the hordes). The up island setting is ideal for those who want the Vineyard sea and landscapes without crowds (although all the activity one could want is a short drive away). I'm going back in 2015!

Absolutely no smoking or pets anywhere in house or screen porch. Renters who violate restriction or permit guests to violate will be forfeit deposit and be assessed additional cleaning fees. Owners are allergic. No exceptions!
Deposit of 50% upon reservation. Deposit is fully refundable if reservation is cancelled 90 days or more in advance of stay. If reservation is cancelled within 90 days of stay, deposit will be refunded at owner's discretion if property is re-rented to another party. Rent is due in full 30 days in advance of stay.
