About the property

6 Bedroom, 2.75 Bath, 2,400 Sq Ft, Garage, in the Heart of the Black Hills

This Sturgis Vacation/Rally rental is located in Sturgis, SD, the hub to Black Hills area tourism and home to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Sturgis Mustang Rally, and many more events. The house is located one block from the center of Main Street Sturgis.

The home was constructed by Joseph Aga in the early 1900's and has stayed in the family ever since. It combines all the amenities of a modern home with historic construction and the rich Norwegian heritage of the Aga Family.

Aga Huset is a 2,400 square foot house with 6 bedrooms (7 beds), 2.75 baths, a 2-car garage and off-street parking. It sleeps 10-13 comfortably, although up to 16 occupants are permitted for special events.

Note: We have a TV and DVD player but no cable service (most people don't use it because they are enjoying the outdoors).

The house is clean and in great condition so we only want responsible renters. No smoking. No pets. No illegal drugs. No weapons. No gangs. No illegal activity.

About Blane

I'm a Sturgis, South Dakota native who also grew up in Spearfish, Gillette (WY), and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The vast majority of my extended family still call the Blacks Hills area home. My wife, kids and I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, but return to the Black Hills a number of times during the year to enjoy the company of family and to experience everything that this area has to offer. I'm currently self-employed, but previously worked as a college football coach and in marketing/public relations. I have a B.A. in Marketing and a M.A. in Public Relations. My hobbies include playing guitar, biking, reading and just about anything my young kids put me up to.

Blane purchased this house in 2014

Why Blane chose World

I spent the first three years of my life living in this house with my parents and grandparents. I also spent countless hours throughout the years playing in every nook and cranny. I'm proud of my South Dakota heritage and of my adopted home state of Minnesota. This is a family home that has been passed down through the generations. This home was built by my great-great grandparents Joseph & Clara Aga. I purchased the home from relatives after my grandparents Wayne & Carolynn Erickson passed. My intent is to update the home while maintaining its unique charm and nuances. Ultimately, it will become a vacation property with a Norwegian flare (the Aga family originated in Aga, Norway) that can serve as a tribute to the Aga family while also serving the needs of those families looking for a unique stay during their travels to the Black Hills.

What makes this house unique

This house was once much smaller. An addition was added by my grandparents in the mid-'70's. The southern 1/3 of the house is the newest portion. During the expansion a cellar was dug out in the basement. It became the home to an endless supply of my grandmother's homemade chokecherry jelly, apple butter, canned beets and other treats. Prior to that, the home once housed Clara's Brooking Baths & Massage in the basement in 1937 (my understanding is that it was a reputable business so don't let your mind wander).

Overall our stay went well.

  • 4 of 5

Everyone had a great time! Love how fully stocked it was. We had a bit of a scare when the police arrested someone in the parking lot next to the house. But all was good after that. Overall our stay was great! I wish however that the driveway wouldn't be so steep. We would scrap the front of our cars when pulling in or out.

Black Hills Visit

  • 5 of 5

We are 5 Nebraskans who wanted to take a quick trip to Black Hills to visit old haunts and conjure up fond memories of bygone days and motorcycle rallies. This was a great place to spend a few days in Sturgis. We loved the house. Roomy and comfortable. It is A lovely house that is well stocked and centrally located for roaming around town. We liked Spearfish and the fish hatchery too. Thank you

to Blane for providing such a comfortable place to stay. Highly recommend it. Thank you.

Wonderful rental coordination and perfect home!

  • 5 of 5

Blane was great with helping to organize the details of the rental and answer my questions. The house is a treasure! - perfectly clean and well-kitted out with everything weary travelers need. We were able to wash clothes and cook some great meals in the very well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed walking around Main St. and getting the vibe of Sturgis. We felt safe in the home and truly felt welcome. We had an abundance of towels, paper products, kitchen and laundry supplies and the "welcome instructions and helpful tips" were perfect. Thank you!
