About Catalina Cooper
The owners have vacationed at Possum Kingdom Lake for the past 15 years and still consider it a home away from home. A love of the outdoors, water sports, fishing and spending quality time with friends and family keep the owners coming back year after year.
Catalina Cooper purchased this Barn in 2009
Why Catalina Cooper chose Graham
This property was perfect for the owners and their young children. With walk up access to the lake as opposed to side with steep cliffs, this property is perfect for their family.
What makes this Barn unique
This property offers simplicity at its best having all your modern necessities without all the fuss. Truly a get-away from busy city life.

Quiet cove, a wonderful getaway
Easy to get to, great location on the lake. We enjoyed how quiet it was at this location. The extra home was a hit with the teenagers. AC and plumbing worked fine (I noticed in listing that sometimes it doesn't). We will rent again if it is still available.
We Definitely Recommend
We had a family get-together of ten adults and young-adults, and this place was ideal. The property is large enough that there are no close neighbors. There's a very nice dock to tie up your watercraft and to have early morning coffee while watching the sun come up over the lake. There's a concrete boat ramp that provided a good place to enter the lake for a dip (no muddy bottom). The accommodations were homey, clean, and comfortable. The little cabin is quaint and charming and is just a short distance from the main home (which is a metal barn with living facilities, but it's quite nice). The property manager was responsive when I emailed with questions. There was no real downside. We all agreed that we would book this place again.
We housed 8 adults here for a work trip for 2 weeks and it was perfect. They were so accommodating to us! Will definitely rent again when we come back through!
One step above sleeping in a tent.
My family and friends annual Ya Ya weekend was almost ruined by this property, the property manager and owner. As they are also in the process of trying to sell this property so they are really not interested in maintaining it. The kitchen was poorly stocked with basic cooking utensils. On arrival the barn.was not exactly as represented. First it is NOT a barn. It is an oversized garage with living quarters attached. The toilet was backed up and according to the property manager had just been cleaned. So why didn't they notice the toilet did not flush completely? Next when we called to report to report it to property know if there was a plunger anywhere on the property. When we informed her there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, she said and I quote "You were advised to bring your own comforts from home. I am sure that was detailed in you letter". It was not and when I pointed out that toilet paper, paper towels, etc., are not COMFORT ITEMS, BUT NECESSITIES, she still tried to blame us for the propertey issues. Then she said she could do nothing until the next day. Really? Six Adults in that "barn" and we just hold it til the next day. She called us back about an hour later to tell us her cleaning lady had a plunger at the cabin and they did have toilet paper in the cabinet that faces the living room under the breakfast bar. Really? Who looks for toilet paper in the living room? There is a huge closet in the bathroom that was practically empty except for extra towels! The next surprise was the cabin. There is something kind of dead animal under it and the smell was disgusting, we had to kill a copperhead snake in the air conditioning unit and found a brown Recluse spider in the bathroom. My pregnant daughter in law, her husband, my niece and her boyfriend stayed in the cabin because we had no place else for them to sleep. They spent two nights in that thing and left a full day early because the smell in the cabin was making my daughter in law sick. The only good part of this place I can recommend is the view from the porch and the sound of rain on the metal roof. DO NOT RENT THIS PLACE. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING THIS PLACE, DO NOT CONSIDER THE CABIN AS ANYTHING EXCEPT A STORAGE BUILDING. I would recommend to anyone interested in buying this piece of land to require the owner to tear down that cabin first. Just an FYI, according to the manager the Owner stated renting a condo property is just one step above a tent.
Reading this review brings back unfortunate memories from September 2016 and this particular renter. As evidenced by the 4 and 5 star reviews left by other guests, this property has proven to be a lovely vacation spot for most and is truly a peaceful and wonderful getaway. The detailed summary provided by the owners about the property states that PK Camp Carefree is one step up from a tent (not the renting of a condo as the renter incorrectly stated). It is apparent that the renter had a set of expectations that were not going to be met during this visit. Once the owners and property manager were aware of the issues, all efforts were made during the guests' stay to make their visit tolerable. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. This visit was jinxed from the beginning and it all started with a clogged toilet and missing toilet paper. The fact that rodents/insects were in the cabin or air conditioning unit had to do with the fact that this is a rustic, lakefront property. Additionally, the owners and property manager live several hours away and are not able to check on everything prior to a visit but do work with a local cleaning company and the property is cleaned after each visit. The owners and property manager are always eager to try to work with a guest if anything is needed during a stay.
Great place for families with kids
We had a great time during our stay here! The cabin was a little further from the house than I expected, but it worked fine.
We had a huge issue with ants and a dead rodent in the cabin. The barn was not cleaned appropriately. It was not addressed in a timely manner.
We enjoyed the dock and the seclusion. We didn't let the issues ruin our family vacation.
We paid way too much for what we got.
We apologize that your visit did not meet your expectations and wish you all the best in your future travels. Because this is a rustic/lakefront property, it is at times difficult to battle all the elements of nature that exist at any given time of year. Regular extermination and house cleaning does take place in an effort to keep the critters at bay. We appreciate our guests letting us know when a problem needs to be addressed and do our best to take care of issues in a timely manner.
