Relaxing Family Vacation
Our family of 10 gathered at the White Heron Inn for an impromptu family vacation. Upon arrival we found a beautiful display of fresh picked figs from the yard for a tasty treat. The owner Christopher also suggested we pick the black berries on the property which made yummy pancakes. We loved how spacious and comfortable the house was, allowing everyone to have a bedroom, as well as fun nooks and crannies to visit, play board games, eat, and nap. The large, well stocked kitchen provided ample space for people to cook and eat together. We bought oysters and fresh crab caught that day from a local down the street at an excellent price. We cooked steaks on the grill provided and had an amazing meal of surf and turf. We knew to bring bug spray to enjoy the outside. Bikes and kayaks were provided for outdoor fun. We especially enjoyed the front deck to sun ourselves and the back porch to relax in the rockers and shuck oysters on the patio tables. Of course we ate at Old Saltys as suggested by everyone in the area. We also spent a day in Cambridge at the Visitors Center. The toddlers played on the elaborate playground equipment, the teens caught lots of Pokemons, and the older members toured the historical area. We met at the Visitor Center to relax on the small shore line to catch some rays and watch the jelly fish. The owners Christopher and Marisol were lovely, friendly and helpful. They definitely have an artistic flair as evidenced by the artwork done by the owner himself! This beautiful, charming, well decorated home made a perfect atmosphere for our family to enjoy some moments together. We look forward to a time when we can return and include a trip to the Harriet Tubman Museum and explore the Black Water Wildlife refuge .
We stayed here with a large group (14 adults, 2 kids) and had a wonderful time. The six separate bedrooms were perfect! The backyard was spacious enough to throw a Frisbee or football. Kitchen was excellent for preparing meals for everyone. We loved our time here!
Nice home in a small peacefull town surrounded by the river water is amazing sight to see! Its definitely a breath of fresh air outside, and home is very comfortable and very clean. I would recommend this home to any one seeking a quiet getaway!
Great Party spot.
The Photo of the property is...from a creative angle, as the property is surrounded on several sides by neighbors. Smells like septic around exterior of home. Bring paper products. Owner did not know internet password, nor make any effort to find it. The area is beautiful.
White Heron Inn appreciates the review, however, the property was photographed from the street straight in front of the house, nothing creative.
The property is very beautiful as reflected in the photo. Yes there are neighbors, just as any where else, however the property is insulated by 8.5 acres, and the Honga river in the rear.
White Heron Inn employees a specialist to inspect and maintain plumbing and septic annually. This accusation is false.
As in the agreement, guest are suppose to bring paper products, however, White Heron Inn has supplied virtually all necessities except food for the last 2 years. Password was supplied and is listed on equipment box.
We sincerely hope that you review this property and can appreciate its beauty and integrity.
Fun old place
This rental was a great place to get away from it all. It's surprisingly in the middle of nowhere which is more than half of the charm! If you are a nature lover, then be prepared- Ospreys and Bald Eagles flying all over the place :)
The house was more than comfortable and was able to accommodate our group with great ease (11). Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was nicely stocked with all the utensils one would need.
If you need to go out for a bite, Old Salty's is the place- right up the street! Also, there is a great little general store for any supplies that you may need, including bait for fishing:)
Of particular note, with an old house like this, and many guests, be sure to flush each toilet one at a time. There was an issue with grease backing up the line to the septic tank. Other than that, the house is great!
Great location, great price... if I was a teacher, my stay there would get an A.
Nice weekend getaway
Sweet and affordable little rental apartment. Great water views, quiet, and cozy. You can see so many stars here, and it's got a nice firepit area. Old Salty's is right down the street and they served us food (delicious crabcakes) even after closing. Close to a wonderful nature preserve where we saw egrets and bald eagles. Half hour's drive to the cute little town of Cambridge, with good food, nice people, and a great little brew pub. A nice, low-key alternative to the overpriced bed and breakfast places of St. Michaels.
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge 15 minute drive. St. Michaels 1 hour drive, Ocean City,MD 1-1/2 hour drive.
Early 2015 new Harriet Tubman National Park 17 acres, close to Blackwater National Refuge.
