Nice weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Sweet and affordable little rental apartment. Great water views, quiet, and cozy. You can see so many stars here, and it's got a nice firepit area. Old Salty's is right down the street and they served us food (delicious crabcakes) even after closing. Close to a wonderful nature preserve where we saw egrets and bald eagles. Half hour's drive to the cute little town of Cambridge, with good food, nice people, and a great little brew pub. A nice, low-key alternative to the overpriced bed and breakfast places of St. Michaels.

June 2018 Stay at Fishing Creek

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice time at this property. The house was as described, vary spacious, comfortable and quiet, exactly what we needed for our Ironman race. Great value for the money.

The host was very kind to us and was available all the time over the phone. The only issue we had was with the wifi in the house, but the host explained it was an issue with the ISP and made an effort to have the issue solved.

I definettly recommend this place if you are looking for a stay in fishing creek...

Nice property, undergoing rennovations

  • 3 of 5

My family was in the area for a family wedding at Ransome’s Chesapeake Retreat (10 easy minutes away) for a weekend in May 2018. The large house is very interesting and was able to accommodate my family sufficiently. Because of the wedding, we did not spend much time at the property but I feel that I have to detail some of the issues we encountered.

The house has had damage over the winter and the owners are taking efforts to restore the house to its original condition. The listing has photos that look like the house before the damage. The house definitely had a layer of dust, everything in the kitchen needed to be washed and in one instance, we turned on the ceiling fan in the downstairs bedroom and it coated the room with dust so that all of the linens had to be changed. Beyond the cleanliness, the doors that we could use had poor locks and did not close completely making it hard to keep bugs out of the house. The listing also included Dish TV and Internet service, which worked only sporadically over our weekend there.

Make sure to check with the owners (Christopher & Marisol) on the work being done but they are a bit hard to get a hold of. I asked about any accommodations they could make based on our experience (my family has stayed in VRBOs both in the US and abroad) but got no response. Thus, the 3 star review. I have tried to be fair here; the listing does not misrepresent the property and they might just need more time to complete the renovations before renting the house out at full price.

Charming Property

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with a large group (14 adults, 2 kids) and had a wonderful time. The six separate bedrooms were perfect! The backyard was spacious enough to throw a Frisbee or football. Kitchen was excellent for preparing meals for everyone. We loved our time here!
