About Diane Overstreet

John and Diane, originally from Florida, moved with their two daughters to the Steamboat area in May of 2014. John manages the City of Steamboat's Parks & Rec department. Diane, a former court reporter, manages the lodge. We love the Steamboat area and are excited to be raising our girls here in this beautiful, active community.

Diane Overstreet purchased this lodge in 2014

Why Diane Overstreet chose Steamboat Springs

The Aspen View Lodge is a classic mountain lodge of heavy timber and moss-rock construction with large expanses of glass to take in the mountain and valley views. It was built in the early '70s as a boys' dorm for a private boarding school. Many of the buildings from the original school complex still remain and have been converted into homes and condos. We are continuously in the process of lovingly restoring and theming each of the rooms.

Perfect place for a large family gathering. Very clean/decorated nicely. I would recommend it.

We celebrated my parent's 60th wedding anniversary the weekend of 9/8. This lodge has every appliance/tableware available that you could imagine. The kitchen/dining area is set up well. We all fit in the living room to view videos of my parent's wedding. Bathroom in every bedroom. The kids enjoyed the pool table and card table and the hot tub. Diane was very responsive from the day we booked the lodge though the stay and checkout. Thank you!

The lodge is fantastic. It is so spacious; there are plenty of spots to gather or to get away from everyone. It is so well-supplied that I can't think of a thing we were in need of except for more time to enjoy Steamboat and the lodge. The decorations are simple and tasteful. The beds are very comfortable. The cleanliness was something we all appreciated. Diane was so accommodating and quickly available with answers for us.

The only negative we encountered was the stuffiness of the kitchen/dining room and the 3rd floor rooms. We couldn't open the door in the dining room because of bats, and it got extremely warm. The upstairs rooms, including the ones with window units, were really uncomfortable. We would love to rent here again if this issue is resolved.

Otherwise, it was a perfect visit. Thank you.

Owner's Response: We're so happy your group had a great time in Steamboat and at the lodge. Steamboat has much to offer in the summertime, with so many activities to choose from. July is the peak of the summer season, and the most popular month to be here. This past summer it was also quite warm, which can be a challenge during the warmest part of the afternoon, as few Steamboat properties have air conditioning. The dining room door can be opened during daylight hours as long as someone has an eye on it. You never know if a wandering bear may find the scent of Uncle Dave's special chili, simmering in the Crockpot, irresistible. ;) Thanks for taking the time to review.

Great family reunion spot!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect setting for our family reunion, easily accommodating all 21 people, ranging in age from 3 to 73. There was plenty of space for us to spread out and enjoy each other's company, yet everyone had their privacy as well. The well-appointed kitchen was perfect for making large meals. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, pool table, and comfortable lounge area. Diane was great and provided everything we needed. I highly recommend this property for any large group!

Wonderful spot for large group gatherings

  • 5 of 5

The Aspen View Lodge was great! It's an ideal spot for large groups, with plenty of room for everyone. Our group had 25 and there were several bedrooms to spare. The layout is great as well, and the large dining area on the ground floor makes it easy to share meals together in very large groups. The owners are also very helpful with any questions you might have about things to do or events in town. The house itself is a 9 or 10 minute drive to town, providing easy access but guaranteeing quiet, peaceful nights as well. And the Steamboat views and cool nights just can't be beat! Our entire group loved our stay, and hope to return some day soon.

It fit our families needs and interests very well. There were 30 of us who loved Aspen View.

  • 5 of 5

Adults and children loved the the setting among aspen and pine. When we do our reunions we want to stay in one large house rather than several cabins. Everyone agreed Aspen View Lodge was the best place we had stayed over the many years and want to come back again in two years. Thanks for your hospitality.

Wonderful Lodge!

  • 5 of 5

We had the whole place rented out for a large birthday celebration. Diane was very accommodating and helped us out with all the random questions we had. The place is nice and secluded up rabbit ears pass (quick 10 min drive into town), with wonderful rooms and plenty of space to hang out, eat, and enjoy a vacation. Kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils, and the ice machine came in hand with the full house of people. The snow wasn't the best, but sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing still ensued. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!
