About Lynne or Doug

We loved the mountains and the life style it offers.

Lynne or Doug purchased this house in 1979

Why Lynne or Doug chose Alberta

This is such a fabulous property for many reasons. It has that charm of a heritage home, with all the modern conveniences. It is beautiful with all kinds of interesting areas to enjoy. It is 5 minute walk from downtown Banff with hiking trails and bike rides just outside the door. Because we are a heritage home of over 100 years old, with two large staircases and a hot tub, we are not child friendly. Children have not lived in this home for over 20 years.

What makes this house unique

Close to downtown

Two balconies and front and back yard

Gorgeous charming home in the heart of the Canadian Rockies

Perfect home base in Banff

  • 5 of 5

Great place for our party of 7 adults. Enough space for all and enough separate spaces for time apart. Nice amenities including exercise equipment and a lap pool. The photos don't do justice to how nice and roomy the house is.

Very easy walk to center of town. Good home base to visit all the attractions around Banff.

The Godfreys were pleasant to interact with and quickly responsive to our questions.

Lots of antiques to look at. Nice and clean and felt like being at home. Everything to make you comfortable. Would have no reason not to stay here when we come again. Great job Lynne and Doug

Charming and spacious home, amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 adults loved our stay at Lynne and Doug's house. It was wonderful to be a few blocks from the great restaurants of downtown Banff and the house is very charming and well kept. We took advantage of the multiple sitting rooms, nice outdoor areas, hot tub, and even an indoor lap pool for some exercise. There are 4 bedrooms and a loft in the house so we had our pick of sleeping spaces. We did note like some other reviewers that since there is a master bedroom not all the bedrooms are equal in size. This was perfect for us as we were adult children and our parents. The house owners were also nearby when we had some questions, and gave us a great tour of the house when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again!

Charming Heritage Home

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 6 (which included an infant) stayed in this charming heritage home for 16 nights. We were made to feel very welcome by Doug. The peaceful location is perfect for walking to everything in town and for beautiful walks along the the river. It is accessible to Lake Louise and Sunshine for wonderful skiing. There is lots of space so we could all spend time together along with my son and his family, who live in Banff. There is a separate television area in addition to a TV in the master bedroom for those who wish to spend time away from the main living area. The kitchen is well equipped for those who wish to cook their own meals, which we did most evenings. The house was clean and well stocked with towels, condiments, toilet rolls etc. There were no issues regarding storage for our belongings. We enjoyed barbecues, the sunny garden and the outdoor hot tub (although only one member of our group ventured into the pool). As it was warm, we did not need to use the open fire but would be welcome in the winter months. The pump for the pool was noisy but Doug showed us where to turn it off at night so our sleep was not disturbed.

Families travelling with young children should be aware of the open stairs to the pool area. Lynne had informed us about the potential danger but this was not a problem as my granddaughter was always supervised.

This is a house full of character and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay which offers flexibility and charm.

Comfortable Home in Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My brother and I along with two of his friends go skiing each winter out west. This year we went to Banff and found this house to be nice home in an excellent location. The town is just a 5-minute walk, as is the free bus for skiers to go to one of the 3 nearby areas – Lake Louise, Sunshine Village or Mt. Norquay. The house is eclectic, but spacious and not overly cluttered. It does have some nice oddities like a lap pool, which I enjoyed, as well as the more conventional hot tub. The kitchen has modern appliances and a center island that is convenient for cooks. Outdoor grill is nice, too. The master bedroom upstairs is definitely top line, the first floor bedroom fine, and the basement bedrooms modest. Access to the loft bedroom above the master bedroom is by a steep ladder requiring some agility to ascend. We didn’t need that bed, however, so did not use it. I would highly recommend this lodging in Banff.

Great Location/ Quirky Home

  • 4 of 5

When we first viewed the Godfrey house as a potential accommodation, we had doubt because of some of the negative reviews posted by other guests. However, we decided to take the chance anyhow because of the location and the space. Boy were we glad we ignored the negative reviews. Everything we needed and wanted was provided to us in this home. There are 4 bedrooms and two areas for guests to gather. The master bedroom is larger than all the other rooms, which a cute balcony and full bathroom. We had a fully equipped kitchen, fully stocked bathrooms, laundry facility, plenty of towels, two car spots, air temperature control, fire place, heated floors in the basement area and pool/hot tub were good temperatures. There was enough storage room for all our stuff, closets and drawers in each room were empty. They had an outside storage room for our ski gear. The house was also very clean, there wasn’t any dog fur or dirt. Yes, there was little splatters of paint on the concrete floor, but we just appreciated an artist lives here. The house is charming/quirky. It was definitely a different layout to what I’m use too, but we really enjoyed the quirkiness of it. The location is fantastic. It was less than a 5 min walk to main street of Banff. Lynn was an awesome landlord, she provided an easy late check in service for us and was just a lovely lady overall. There was 3 couples and a single in our group and the average age is 30. We would recommend this home to anyone.
