About Aruna McDermott

We love the Cape and think you will too!

We have been property owners on the Cape for 20 years and love having guest enjoy our houses.

Aruna McDermott purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Aruna McDermott chose Dennis

We have completely renovated this cottage down to the studs. Everything is new!

We've decorated it to our liking and we hope it's yours too. Nothing is precious so put your feet up!

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage is not your typical rental with 'hand-me-down' furniture and no decorations.

If you like a more upscale feeling (like I do when I go away) you'll love this place.

Small but charming!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I searched all across Cape Cod for the perfect getaway spot to propose to my girlfriend. Seaglass Cottage looked to be the best place with it being quite secluded and had the beautiful pond (it seems much more like a lake as it's pretty big) to the front of the property which I saw as the perfect spot for the proposal. I contacted Aruna about this prior to booking and she was exceptionally helpful and informative. I explained that as we would be travelling from the UK, we would find it difficult to bring our own linen and towels but she insisted on providing it as an engagement present which was a lovely gesture. Aruna also provided us with a whole host of places to visit including beaches, the best places for walking, tourist attractions and her recommendations for the best places for both lunch and dinner, including which would be open in the Winter time. Not only was linen provided but also shampoo and conditioner and laundry detergent, should we need it. We've stayed in many places but Aruna has to be the best host we've ever come across; her speed of communication, friendliness and generosity are second to none so she really is an exceptional host. She even thought about suitable beaches to propose if I decided that Flax Pond to the front of the property was not suitable. Once we got there though, I knew that in front of the pond was a perfect spot. So on the morning of day 2, I popped the question right in front on the pond and she said yes! It couldn't have been a more beautiful spot and day as the sun was shining and glistening off the water. The property is quite secluded with only a few houses around the area but we wouldn't have even known anyone was about throughout our 3 day stay in the Winter so it really was very peaceful. It's warm in the winter with central heating throughout the cottage. It's a very short drive to Dennis and Hyannis is not far away either so they're all ideal spots for shopping and restaurants. Driving to the other side of Cape Cod over to Nauset Beach, where you can get a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean and home to seals and great white sharks, is about a 30 minute drive away. Although we had a car to get us about, you can easily get a taxi here. We used Uber a few times, which I was surprised still had cars running in the winter, to get us to a few restaurants so that we could have a drink. This place is simply outstanding and nothing could be done to improve it. It was the perfect location for our engagement. We

Absolutely dreamy. A perfect vacation, cottage and location! The hosts couldnt be nicer!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is exactly as pictured. Perfectly appointed, very well maintained and immaculate. The outdoor shower is incredible. The couch comfy, the kitchen a great set up and has everything you need. BBQ right outside, a 2 person hammock and adirondack chairs to have an evening cocktail or read a book and watch the sun set. The POND is sublime. Clean, never too crowded or noisy and the kayaks that come woth the rental are perfect for morning, afternoon and evenings on the pond. The neighborhood is quaint and nice and the neighbors are lovely. Aryna the owner was attentive and available and had great suggestions of restaurants. The cottage has maps and brochures for bike rentals, restaurants and activities. We rode our bikes to town and to the icream store and took a long bime ride along the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

Awesome all around.

Our only disappointment is that we didnt book it for two weeks.

Cant say enough great things.

Great find. Great vacation and great owners/hosts. They made the entire rental experience so easy.

Thank you Aruna!!!

Cozy cottage close to it all!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was meticulous and comfortable, perfect for a long weekend getaway. Located in a quiet neighborhood but still in close proximity to all of the attractions that Cape Cod has to offer. Can’t wait to sneak away again to this lovely spot! Thank you, Aruna, for your hospitality and attention to detail :)

Cute cottage with nice design and amenities a few steps from the lake.

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time and enjoyed the cottage. A very cold Christmas week and the cottage stayed nice and warm!! Mattress in front bedroom was a bit thin (has two bedrooms) but we got used to it and easily slept in each day!! Comfortable sofa and easy chairs, we’ll stocked kitchen re: plates and pans. Nice place.

2 Nites on the Cape

  • 5 of 5

Very nice cottage clean well appointed and comfortable. Nice quite area and great for our dog. Rained both days but still nice to be on the Cape off season. Aruna did forgo the pet fee but did think the cleaning fee was high, 2 days $195 brought our own bedding and towels. Would recommend and would return!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review Russell. I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves even though the weather didn't cooperate. The $125 cleaning fee is pretty standard for the Cape where labor costs are high. I hope you come back and visit again.

Relaxing oasis

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the sea glass cottage in mid September. The cottage was beautiful. Our 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son had a blast. It was beautifully decorated, and perfect size for our kids to play safely and comfortably. The serene water view was great. The attention to detail in the cottage was obvious...from the quality of books, candles and lotions to cozy bedding and blankets. We had everything we needed at our fingertips. We were able to cook family meals as if in our own home. Thank you to the owners! This is how vacationing is done.
