About Karen Bartlett

I have been in the real estate industry since 2005. My background in design has been instrumental with the design and interior décor for many vacation rental homes. Excellent couple's getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is nestled privately in the woods, but close enough to Bryson City, Cherokee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to enjoy plenty of activities. This was our second stay in this cabin and we loved it just as much as the first time. Each time we found it spotless, with everything we needed. The cabin is fairly new and still in like new shape. We loved the patio addition and built a fire in the fire pit every night. The hot tub was clean and very enjoyable with the low lighting and screened tent. There is a hiking trail very near to the cabin. The cabin is perfect for a couple to get away, enjoy the woods or venture out for a hike or a train ride in nearby Bryson. There are some great restaurants nearby, such as Guayabitos Mexican Restaurant and Everett Street Diner. I highly recommend this cabin.

Beautiful Cabin Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Bear Paws Cabin for a long weekend and had an absolutely amazing time! The cabin is a perfect getaway for two tucked away in the mountains. The inside was nicely updated and everything you would need to stay comfortably is supplied for you. We enjoyed the hot tub in the screened in tent with nice low lighting ambiance. We hiked up the trail along the stream and found lots of different critters! We took a short trip into the town of Bryson City and enjoyed the shops and restaurants. We also drove around through the mountains and enjoyed all the beautiful scenery. We found Fontana Lake and loved the look of the green/blue water! We will definitely be back to visit next year and will bring our kids and rent a bigger cabin from Mountain Memories Vacation Rentals to enjoy all the other adventures and attractions that are around like rafting, ziplining, the train ride and gem mining! The group from Mountain Memories Vacation Rentals are very kind and make sure you have all you need to enjoy your stay!! Thank you for a wonderful trip. My husband couldn't have asked for a better birthday getaway loving the mountains!

Not all it's chalked up to be

  • 2 of 5

We were looking forward to our "away from it all" place with the outdoor kitchen features for our anniversary. The grill did not work and no replacement parts were available. It's very dangerous to start a grill like that with a match. If you don't mind baying hounds and weed eater noises throughout the night, I suppose it's fairly quiet. The kicker was that we found dirty dishes put away as clean. I took pictures and sent it to management. Not apologetic at all. Everything is basically out of their control. I would not advertise this place as air conditioned as that only applies to the one room the unit is in. The "hot tub" is a liability considering the top doesn't fasten I would not have given a review at all had the management had a more hospitality oriented attitude than a "so what" set of responses to concerns. Not worth what we paid.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to write a review. Our staff works very hard to provide the best possible experience for our guests. We made every effort to fix the grill when notified and had the owner stop by and determine if the situation could be addressed a short time after notification. We were informed the part has to be ordered from the manufacturer. We also contacted the store where the grill was purchased and the manufacturer and subsequently contacted you with the suggestion they had for starting the grill. The neighbors, which are not in the development, seem to not have used good judgement when doing yard work. We did respond to your concerns within minutes of your notification - this cabin is two years old and has a mini split system that was installed to NC Building Code and operates very efficiently when heating or cooling. Our pricing for your stay is less than a hotel room in the area. We offer very attractive rates for a custom built small home with a full kitchen, outdoor area, washer/dryer and more. We appreciate the opportunity to make any improvements based on constructive input to ensure our guests receive the best service and vacation value that can be offered.

Cozy Cabin Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights in Bear Paws Cabin and truly enjoyed our stay! It was secluded in the mountains, but not too difficult to get to in our smaller sedan style vehicle. The size of the cabin was perfect for two and everything about it was up to date and working like new. Wifi was very reliable and was nice to have a TV in both the living room and bedroom. The hot tub was great and we loved that it was in a screened in tent to avoid bugs from getting in. Grill worked perfectly and we were able to enjoy our dinners outside on the patio. The location of this cabin is perfect for relaxing days in, but we also enjoyed being so close to Bryson City in order to explore the town and hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Everything about our stay and communication with the manager was excellent. This place was all we had hoped for and we know we will be back again in the future!

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 nights in Bear Paws Cabin and enjoyed every minute! It was a great secluded getaway for us. It was remote yet easy to get to Bryson City in about 10 minutes. The road in is a little hairy for us lowcountry coastal types used to flat, straight roads but not too bad. Everything was clean, up-to-date and in working order. Loved the hot tub, firepit, grill, wi-fi and satellite TV. And the dogs that visit were very friendly and a nice touch (were they spying on us?) Would not hesitate to book Bear Paws Cabin again if the opportunity arises.

Serene, beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Bear Paws Cabin. The cabin is very quaint yet modem with all the conveniences one could possibly need. It was very clean and the kitchen was adequately stocked. It is close enough to Bryson City to shop, dine and explore but far enough to be very secluded. Great place for a romantic getaway.
