About C. William Champlin
My wife and I have been neighbors and dear friends of the owners for many years and now that one has passed and the other is in an 'Assisted Living Facility' we are managing the property for the family.
C. William Champlin purchased this Cottage in 1975
Why C. William Champlin chose Penn Yan
Our neighbors were both Physical Education teachers in the Philadelphia area who often visited friends in the beautiful Finger Lakes and chose to retire on Keuka Lake.
What makes this Cottage unique
Living on the East side of Keuka Lake provides us with many beautiful Sun Sets and expansive views of the lake. Being close to the downtown area is also a big plus. We are within a mile of one of the many 'Farm Wineries' located on Keuka Lake.

Great Stay at a Wonderful House and Location !!!
Enjoyed a Mother's Day Weekend In the Lake Keuka area and stayed a this lakefront house. We enjoyed the view and the wonderful surroundings. The house is very nice and clean. Our family will probably return to the area soon! Thanks for the great memory!
We stayed at Bill and Nancy's lakehouse mid-April for a long weekend getaway. The place was perfect - very clean, spacious and right on the lake! Not to mention it's only about a 3 minute drive into town and close to wineries and restaurants. We had a blast and hope to return for a stay in the near future!
Right on the lake! Older home but in great shape.
Property manager was awesome!
We certainly appreciate your review but it's always a two way street. It takes great guests to keep us going!!!
Perfect house, perfect weather
A group of 6 stayed at the house for a long weekend of wine tasting and fun. The house had everything we needed. There was enough space so that if you needed to be away from the crowd you had somewhere to go. the 2 full baths were great for everyone to get ready in the mornings. We had perfect weather for such a late weekend in October and were so happy to be able to use the deck, the fire pit, the grill, and even the kayaks for a quick trip on the water. Bill greeted us on arrival and let us know if we needed anything to reach out. The location was great as well...close to wineries, the Windmill, grocery stores, and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!
A little corner of heaven
We loved every minute and everything we needed was immediately available! We cooked three meals, grilled steaks on the deck overlooking the lake at sunset, and for all three evenings we were there sat around the fire pit drinking the incredibly good local wines. The four of us (two couples) had plenty of room for individual relaxation. We particularly enjoyed our bedroom overlooking the lake and the wonderful and surprisingly spacious outdoor lakeside area. The location is superb as well. The first three wineries we visited all nearby along Route 54 were three of the top 4 of the 15 we visited: Keuka Spring, Ravines, and Domaine Leseurre. The location is also easy access to Seneca Lake. On Saturday we went to the Windmill nearby which is a must do shopping event for local crafts, which includes beer, wine, cheese, and antiques. Bill was a great host who was immediately available any time we wanted as he lives two doors down, but he was invisible during our visit unless we asked, and we only asked for a very specific size cooking pan, which he immediately brought over. We had such a great time the four of us are seriously thinking of staying there again next year!
Well, you gave me way too much credit but I very much appreciated your response. Credit is also due to you folks for leaving the Lake House in such good order.

This is a very old house!
This was a family vacation and we had a great time. The weather was perfect and the house has a nice deck with gorgeous water views and spectacular sunsets. We made use of the kayaks, paddleboard, and, paddleboat as well as fishing off the dock. The proximity to wineries was also a plus. Our main issue was the very musty smell in the house. Whenever we opened a kitchen cabinet or closet were greeted by a terrible odor. The kitchen is very small and the oven was not clean. We lit the oven to heat up some bread and realized by the smell that the inside of the oven had not been cleaned. We did have a nice time but I don't think we would rent this house again.
