A hop, skip, and a jump away for Vancouverites: you will spend your time relaxing instead of travelling to do it and will feel a million miles away. Our cozy, simple 1950’s bungalow is perfect for mature couples or a family to get away from it all. When you leave the ferry, you are 15 minutes away by car, and as you turn the corner onto our street, you will be treated with a stunning ocean view as you slowly meander up the street to the simple and quaint bungalow, which is near the end of the road. Beach walks (you can walk for miles) and beach bonfires (don’t forget the marshmallows for the kids!) are just steps away and can be enjoyed any season of the year. We even have a paddle board and kayak for your use! It is an incredibly snug storm watching sanctuary in the off-season. The wood burning fireplace, deck with ocean sounds and views (your backdrop: Georgia Straight and Vancouver Island) facilitate togetherness and good times where memories can be made—enjoy a glass of wine while you cook on the charcoal grill and check out the amazing sunsets from deck , garden, beach, or the open common room/kitchen with large, newly renovated windows for that incredible 180 degree South/Southwest view. Curl up on our recently added window seat with a book (we have many on the shelves!) or soak in the clawfoot tub with a lovely view and sounds of the ocean. Play some board or card games or try your hand at painting one of the sunsets..but don't worry-if you need to connect with the outside world we have WIFI. The bungalow has 3 bedrooms, each with a Queen bed. Hang on— was that an ice cream truck that just went by? You will be taken back to your own childhood when you see it and hear it ramble down the road regularly during the summer months. Not suited for loud groups, the bungalow is best for people that are looking for some quality time (couples or a family) to regroup and enjoy nature, and are respectful of the quiet, serene neighbourhood. If that’s you, make Bonnie Bungalow part of your tradition!

About Valerie and Geoff Cundiff
My husband and I moved our family to North Vancouver, Canada from Baltimore, MD several years ago and it has been a wonderful place to raise our family.
Valerie and Geoff Cundiff purchased this Bungalow in 2014
Why Valerie and Geoff Cundiff chose Gibsons
We fell in love with the simple charm of this bungalow with unspoiled nature right at our feet and knew we wanted to create even more family memories here. We are continually awed by beautiful BC and what it has to offer:mountains, ocean, rivers, lakes, glaciers, rustic beaches, forests, canyons- and the list goes on. So easy and quick to get here on the ferry and it truly is a 4 season place to come relax, unwind, enjoy. We hope you can share some fine family memories here too! Also a very romantic place to land for a couple!
What makes this Bungalow unique
Gibsons is an idyllic seaside town and the pace is easy going. Whether it be horseback riding, cross country skiing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating, (and more), no matter the age, there is truly something for everybody! Our golden retriever just loved the off-leash beach right outside the door (she has now passed unfortunately but our lab is now loving it)! Our daughter loves to swim and paddleboard on the beach. Our sons are avid mountain bikers and they have been thrilled with the trails in Roberts Creek and the Coast Gravity Park for mountain bikers in Sechelt. The wood fireplace is the most special spot to curl up by with a book or while playing board games...and now the new window seat too, with a view of the ocean. I love hearing the ocean waves as I fall asleep at night and waking up to them too.

Bonniebrook Beach great location
Our family group of 8 plus dog had an excellent week at the cottage. Weather was hot. Cottage and bunky suited us perfectly. Spent a lot of time just enjoying morning coffee and afternoon beverages on the deck with a view. I anchored my boat right out front. Only possible because of the great weather. Caught some crab, prawns and a couple coho. A couple improvements I suggest... with 8 people for a week another refrigerator maybe out on the deck and dealing with getting rid of garbage was a major pain.
Thanks so much for your review; sounds like a wonderful time and the weather was indeed fantastic! It is known as one of the BEST areas for crabbing. Thanks for your feedback as well. Unfortunately because of the rural area we cannot put a refrigerator on the deck or have trash put outside other than the morning of pick up day (once weekly) because it would invite bears (and raccoons) who would most certainly visit and partake and thus become habituated and endanger not only humans but eventually themselves. We had hoped that you were able to use our trash box as we suggested and offered to you to help with most of your trash since your stay coincided with the pick up day. There is no recycling pick up service in this area of Gibsons which requires that everyone must bring it to the centre; agreed, a bit inconvenient if you’re used to this type of service to your doorstep but on the plus side it’s a very quick trip if sorting as you go and “all hands on deck” (takes our family about 3 minutes to do on way out of town), and very educational, especially for kids to learn about recycling and the impact of our footprint on the environment. The recycling centre used to accept household trash, unfortunately no longer does, and we hope someone picks up the contract again as we feel the lack of a convenient place may encourages people to irresponsibly dump. Anyway, we do appreciate that you took the time to responsibly dispose of your recycling and trash! Thanks again. :)
Bonnie Bungalow the sequel...
Returned after such a great time last year and Bonnie Bungalow didn't disappoint. Good weekend with good friends and good food in such a spectacular and welcoming spot. We love this place!
Thank you and we are happy you enjoyed your return visit!
Magical retreat on the edge of the ocean.
We had a magical, wonderful time here.
This bungalow was exactly what we wanted/needed and more.
We were looking for a place where we could relax, connect with nature, cook a big dinner with friends, take time for ourselves (and our 5 year old), and celebrate Mothers Day.
The home is fun and welcoming. The bedrooms are comfortable and well supplied. The kitchen was well stocked and organized and we had everything we needed to cook a great meal for the group. The soaker tub is AMAZING!
The outdoor spaces are well appointed and designed so that you could have your morning coffee on a bench overlooking the ocean or tucked into a window seat or on a bench among the cedars. The bunkhouse is adorable and it's deck is the best place to watch the sunrise.
The cabin is ideally situated between Gibson's proper and Sechelt and we made the most of this going to the Sechelt farmers market on Saturday and the local breweries throughout the weekend.
The beach is literally a stones throw away and was easily accessible from stairs just past the cabin's driveway.
Our hosts welcomed us with a bottle of wine on the counter and all the information we needed for our stay. We are already planning our return trip. Definitely book this place. (Maybe just not when we want to stay ;-)
Many thanks! You have been a pleasure to host and we welcome you back!
Great for a family gathering.
We used this property to house 10 family members (cousins) during a family gathering. It is an updated cabin located across the road from a rocky beach. The beds in the cabin are all nice and comfortable. The bunk house has a pair of bunk beds and two single beds (side by side).
The kitchen is well appointed with lots of cutlery, pots, etc. You can easily have 2-3 people working together on a meal.
Areas to note:
1) It is probably about 10 steps up from the driveway to the cabin - with no handrails. Not hard by any means, but if you have elderly folks, they may struggle (or not).
2) The bunk house is about 20 steps from the house and has light/heat, but no running water etc.
We really enjoyed our stay.
Glad you enjoyed your stay! Just to further clarify, the bunkhouse has a set of bunks and an IKEA Hemnes trundle bed which we keep opened up with both mattresses together sharing one frame. It functions as an approximately queen size or even larger bed when in that position. Bunkies typically are solely used for sleeping spaces, however it is heated, has electricity, lights, and...its own little deck! As stated in the listing, the 2 bathrooms are indeed inside the bungalow. Thanks for reminding future guests. :) Also to note, the bunkhouse is not appropriate for young children to sleep in without adult supervision. Although we have woooden handrails for many of the stone steps going up to the cabin (exception of the first few) , agreed, elderly people or people that have mobility issues may require assistance on the steps as well as the driveway, or even may want to consider another property as ours is not handicapped accessible. Thank you for noting! We appreciate the feedback!
Wonderful home and great location!
My family really enjoyed our stay for my dad's 60th birthday! Would definitely stay here again.
Thanks so much and we welcome you back next time you plan a holiday to the Sunshine Coast!
perfect Sunshine Coast getaway
The house is clean and comfortable and the kitchen is very wll stocked. Sleeps lots with the extra bunkhouse. And the location is incredible! huge windows looking straight across the water and a fantastic beach right out the door.
So happy you had a great time and thanks for the wonderful communication. We were happy to host your group!
Gibsons is a charming, walkable town with many shops and restaurants along the waterfront. Take Scenic HWY 101 to explore other cool areas such as Roberts Creek, Sechelt and beyond.
