Overview

About the property

3 BR plus additional bunkhouse (sleeps 4) oceanfront bungalow with 2 full bath

A hop, skip, and a jump away for Vancouverites: you will spend your time relaxing instead of travelling to do it and will feel a million miles away. Our cozy 1950’s bungalow is perfect for couples, friends, or family (or 2 families!) to get away from it all. When you leave the ferry, you are 15 minutes away by car, and as you turn the corner onto our street, you will be treated with a stunning ocean view as you slowly meander up the street to the bungalow, which is near the end of the road. Beach walks (you can walk for miles) and beach bonfires (don’t forget the marshmallows for the kids!) are just steps away (yes, really!) and can be enjoyed any season of the year. It is an incredibly snug storm watching sanctuary in the off-season. The wood burning fireplace, deck with ocean sounds and views (your backdrop: Georgia Straight and Vancouver Island) facilitate togetherness and good times where memories can be made—enjoy a glass of wine while you cook on the charcoal grill and check out the amazing sunsets from deck , garden, beach, or the open common room/kitchen with large windows for that incredible 180 degree South/Southwest view. The bungalow has 3 bedrooms, each with a Queen bed. A few strides away is a newly renovated bunkhouse (with its own deck) that sleeps 4 more (one set of bunk beds and a daybed that turns into a King bed for 2 more). The Bunkhouse is also perfect as a kids play area, or for someone who needs some quiet time. Make Bonnie Bungalow part of your family holiday tradition!

About Valerie and Geoff Cundiff

My husband and I moved our family to North Vancouver, Canada from Baltimore, MD several years ago and it has been a wonderful place to raise our family.

Valerie and Geoff Cundiff purchased this bungalow in 2014

Why Valerie and Geoff Cundiff chose Sunshine Coast

Did you ever have a 'This is IT' moment? Well, we did! We fell in love with the simple charm of this bungalow with unspoiled nature right at our feet and knew we wanted to create even more family memories here. We are continually awed by beautiful BC and what it has to offer:mountains, ocean, rivers, lakes, glaciers, rustic beaches, forests, canyons- and the list goes on. So easy and quick to get here on the ferry and it truly is a 4 season place to come relax, unwind, enjoy. We hope you can share some fine family memories here too! Great for girls' or guys' getaways or a romantic place to land for a couple!

What makes this bungalow unique

Gibsons is an idyllic seaside town and the pace is easy going. Whether it be horseback riding, cross country skiing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating, (and more), no matter the age, there is truly something for everybody! Our golden retriever just loves the beach! Our daughter loves to frolic on the beach and wave down the ice cream truck that regularly comes down our street in the summer. Our sons are avid mountain bikers and they have been thrilled with the trails in Roberts Creek and the newly opened Coast Gravity Park for mountain bikers in Sechelt. The wood fireplace is the most special spot to curl up by with a book or while playing board games. I love hearing the ocean waves as I fall asleep at night and the birds singing in the morning.

Happy and Refreshed ....

  • 5 of 5

I just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic weekend … what a spot you have! The weather could not have been better and the beach was spectacular and super dog friendly. The boys (10 and 12) slept in the Bunkie and enjoyed having us over to ‘their place’ to show us around. The beds were comfy, the house was well equipped. The new deck was the perfect place to soak in the views and watch the comings and goings on the water - we saw a whale :). The location, the house, the people in the neighbourhood all had a very good vibe. This is a special place.

The first impression when you walk into the cabin is the amazing view!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is well equipped with everything we needed. There are washer, dryer and dishwasher. Lots of room for 4 adults and our young grandson. The deck looked new as well as the exterior siding and other upgrades. The weather allowed us to spend many hours playing at the beach. In the evening, there are board games to play, fires on the beach and cruise ships to watch. We enjoyed our time very much. Keep in mind, it is a beach cabin and you won't be disappointed.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 10 with a dog, and all of us fit very comfortably in the house and bungalow. Val and Geoff greeted us with a card and a bottle of wine - which was very much appreciated.

The rooms are spacious, and the location is right across the street from the ocean with access stairs right there. All of us want to return and stay here again!

Fantastic views right across from the beach!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had the best time and the location is amazing! The home was stocked with everything and a lovely bottle of wine left by Val and Geoff made us feel very welcome :)

This was my first time to Gibson's and I fell in love with the charming and friendly village.

The kids loved the paddle board and beach bonfire. The restaurants are very diverse and the service was really good. The house was absolutely perfect and we would highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

Sunny Sunshine Coast

  • 5 of 5

10 of us went to stay at Bonnie Bungalow to enjoy a long weekend on the Sunshine Coast and we had a great time! The house was big enough for a large group to enjoy cooking, meals and hanging out together in. The location is magical - right on the beach at the end of a no-through-road. Superb base for exploring the area or just relaxing with a view of Vancouver Island and the seals playing in the water beneath. Thanks Val and Geoff!

Wonderfully cosy place!

  • 5 of 5

We were booked to come to the Sunshine Coast on a rainy, stormy weekend, so naturally we were a little apprehensive before our arrival! However, our apprehension was put to shame by the wonderful, warm, cosy Bonne Bungalow! Yes, we spent more time inside than we had hoped to due to the storm and the rain, but -- really! -- it's the perfect place for a stormy weekend! The fireplace (easy to work) made us not only nice and warm, but also gave the place that undefinable, warm&fuzzy, lovely feeling of being away from it all and truly in a place to relax, enjoy time with family and cook up a storm! The kitchen is well-equipped, there were lots of great board games available (OK, and yes, the wifi worked well, too. We did check emails!), the beds were comfortable and the place was very clean. We were 6 people in our party (everyone slept in the main house), but the place will easily accommodate 10 people, if you use the bunk house for the extra beds. The view over the water was gorgeous even in the storm and a walk on the beach in the rain and the wind was thoroughly refreshing and enjoyable! We can only imagine how nice and pretty it must be there in the summer! The beach is right across from the bungalow and down the stairs, so you're out there in the beautiful coastal nature as soon as you step out the door. Gibsons is small (about a five minute drive away), but charming. We went on a beautiful hike in Hidden Grove north-east of Sechelt -- magical in the rainy weather! In short, Bonnie Bungalow was a real gem -- we're hoping to come back in the summer, actually, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other visitors. Our communication with the owners was excellent -- Thank you, Val and Geoff, for being such gracious landlords. We truly enjoyed our weekend at your lovely cabin!

Owner's Response: Yes, I was worried too when I heard about the stormy forecast! Thank you for describing how you all spent your time (sounds fantastic!) and for appreciating just how wonderful Bonnie Bungalow can be in any kind of weather! Makes for an interesting ocean to look at and hear. :) You certainly are an optimistic group and were a pleasure to communicate with. We appreciate how you took such great care of Bonnie Bungalow and we welcome you back again!
