About the property

3 BR plus additional bunkhouse (sleeps 4) oceanfront bungalow with 2 full bath

A hop, skip, and a jump away for Vancouverites: you will spend your time relaxing instead of travelling to do it and will feel a million miles away. Our cozy 1950’s bungalow is perfect for couples, friends, or family (or 2 families!) to get away from it all. When you leave the ferry, you are 15 minutes away by car, and as you turn the corner onto our street, you will be treated with a stunning ocean view as you slowly meander up the street to the bungalow, which is near the end of the road. Beach walks (you can walk for miles) and beach bonfires (don’t forget the marshmallows for the kids!) are just steps away (yes, really!) and can be enjoyed any season of the year. It is an incredibly snug storm watching sanctuary in the off-season. The wood burning fireplace, deck with ocean sounds and views (your backdrop: Georgia Straight and Vancouver Island) facilitate togetherness and good times where memories can be made—enjoy a glass of wine while you cook on the charcoal grill and check out the amazing sunsets from deck , garden, beach, or the open common room/kitchen with large windows for that incredible 180 degree South/Southwest view. The bungalow has 3 bedrooms, each with a Queen bed. A few strides away is a newly renovated bunkhouse (with its own deck) that sleeps 4 more (one set of bunk beds and a daybed that turns into a King bed for 2 more). The Bunkhouse is also perfect as a kids play area, or for someone who needs some quiet time. Make Bonnie Bungalow part of your family holiday tradition!

About Valerie and Geoff Cundiff

My husband and I moved our family to North Vancouver, Canada from Baltimore, MD several years ago and it has been a wonderful place to raise our family.

Valerie and Geoff Cundiff purchased this bungalow in 2014

Why Valerie and Geoff Cundiff chose Sunshine Coast

Did you ever have a 'This is IT' moment? Well, we did! We fell in love with the simple charm of this bungalow with unspoiled nature right at our feet and knew we wanted to create even more family memories here. We are continually awed by beautiful BC and what it has to offer:mountains, ocean, rivers, lakes, glaciers, rustic beaches, forests, canyons- and the list goes on. So easy and quick to get here on the ferry and it truly is a 4 season place to come relax, unwind, enjoy. We hope you can share some fine family memories here too! Great for girls' or guys' getaways or a romantic place to land for a couple!

What makes this bungalow unique

Gibsons is an idyllic seaside town and the pace is easy going. Whether it be horseback riding, cross country skiing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, boating, (and more), no matter the age, there is truly something for everybody! Our golden retriever just loves the beach! Our daughter loves to frolic on the beach and wave down the ice cream truck that regularly comes down our street in the summer. Our sons are avid mountain bikers and they have been thrilled with the trails in Roberts Creek and the newly opened Coast Gravity Park for mountain bikers in Sechelt. The wood fireplace is the most special spot to curl up by with a book or while playing board games. I love hearing the ocean waves as I fall asleep at night and the birds singing in the morning.

Wonderfully cosy place!

  • 5 of 5

We were booked to come to the Sunshine Coast on a rainy, stormy weekend, so naturally we were a little apprehensive before our arrival! However, our apprehension was put to shame by the wonderful, warm, cosy Bonne Bungalow! Yes, we spent more time inside than we had hoped to due to the storm and the rain, but -- really! -- it's the perfect place for a stormy weekend! The fireplace (easy to work) made us not only nice and warm, but also gave the place that undefinable, warm&fuzzy, lovely feeling of being away from it all and truly in a place to relax, enjoy time with family and cook up a storm! The kitchen is well-equipped, there were lots of great board games available (OK, and yes, the wifi worked well, too. We did check emails!), the beds were comfortable and the place was very clean. We were 6 people in our party (everyone slept in the main house), but the place will easily accommodate 10 people, if you use the bunk house for the extra beds. The view over the water was gorgeous even in the storm and a walk on the beach in the rain and the wind was thoroughly refreshing and enjoyable! We can only imagine how nice and pretty it must be there in the summer! The beach is right across from the bungalow and down the stairs, so you're out there in the beautiful coastal nature as soon as you step out the door. Gibsons is small (about a five minute drive away), but charming. We went on a beautiful hike in Hidden Grove north-east of Sechelt -- magical in the rainy weather! In short, Bonnie Bungalow was a real gem -- we're hoping to come back in the summer, actually, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other visitors. Our communication with the owners was excellent -- Thank you, Val and Geoff, for being such gracious landlords. We truly enjoyed our weekend at your lovely cabin!

A wonderful family weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Three generations of family stayed at Bonnie Bungalow, and all ten of us had an excellent time. Being across the road from the beach means that there was always "something to do" for everyone. We refilled the hummingbird feeder on arrival, and were thanked with an almost constant stream of hummingbirds coming to snack.

A wonderful neighbourhood, wonderful venue for a family get-away. Thank you to the owners... your photos here don't do it justice.

Amazing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Overall, this place is spectacular! The views are incredible, and the beach is amazing and so close to the house. Waking up to the waves crashing on the beach is incredible. The house itself is spacious and has all the amenities you could wish for. The hosts were very accommodating and easy to communicate with; they even provided us a bottle of wine when we arrived! Highly recommended!

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at the Bungalow, it was a beautiful, sunny day, and we were right across from the ocean. There are plenty of windows and doors and space, but the Bungalow had lots of surprises for us. We rent condos/apartments all the time from VRBO, and we're lucky to have salt and pepper when we arrive. So we had planned most of our meals so that we wouldn't have to bring the condiments or spices. Imagine our surprise when we opened the cupboards and found not only salt and pepper, but sugar, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, BBQ sauce, chocolate syrup for ice cream (kidletts loved it - so did I!) some pasta, dried goods and the list goes on. And lots of games, cards - which I taught our 6 year old granddaughter solitaire and had lots of Go Fish games, and books. We found everything to be very clean and there were lots of towels. Table seats about 10 people, and the kidletts loved the bunkie - they called it the Tree House and had lots of pillow fights there. The only downside was the comfort of the beds. Although the bed in the main bedroom was comfy, the mattress's in the other two rooms were not, and my daughter & husband had sore backs and problems sleeping on it. We found pots/pans plentiful, again, a very nice surprise as we ate in every night, because the view was perfect, and a beach walk in the early evening became a habit. It was great for the grandkids (4 & 6) to have a little shack, that was a ways down the beach, built out of driftwood, where we would play "restaurant" daily and could order anything we wanted. I can't say enough how much fun we all had and how much the kids learned about beach combing and ocean life. I forgot to mention the paddle board - my son in law was out on it almost daily, along with the kids. And our dogs had the run of the beach - legally. I can't say how much I enjoyed walking with my german shepherd on the beach, without a leash. A wonderful 7 days, not quite enough time.

Bungalow by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

This charming and guest friendly bungalow is just across the road from a fantastic beach. We were swimming and enjoying drinks on the beach in the first week of June! The top three things about this property for me were (1) the large wooden table positioned in front of the enormous windows so that every meal had a sea view, (2) a comfy living room and deck area to hang out and chat or read while watching the ocean, (3) the fact that a great beach is right across the road!

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent a very enjoyable time there and the spaciousness was not thel least of our precious impressions.

We did not lack for any amenity in the kitChen and thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely breakfast at the table talking over our coffee and enjoying the view. We even had the opportunity to see sea otters on the beach.

The cottage is close to town and we drove in one night for dinner and walked out on the pier and the next day back for shopping . Not to forget a stop for a scoop of Gelato just like Vivolis in Florence.

The cottage is very quiet and one leaves feeling quite refreshed. After looking at the constant view of the water and not a house in sight-a total change from the city.
