Our building was the first art deco modern highrise built on Ft. Lauderdale beach in 1960 by the founder of what is now the Geico Insurance Company. The lobby and common areas still boast the classic feel of South Florida highrises built during this period.
Our apartment is a spacious (1,400 square feet) two-bedroom, two-bath unit on the 11th floor with expansive beach views. The apartment was completely renovated in 2011. The living area contains a sectional sofa, a chaise lounge and a SONY 'Google' TV. The dining room table seats six if you want to have friends over for dinner.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you will need to prepare a wonderful meal. All appliances are Kitchenaid, including a side-by-side refrigerator, built-in microwave, and convection oven. There is also a wine cooler. The countertops and backsplash are quartz.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and ample closet space for clothes and luggage. There is a split bathroom in the master (one side has a sink and shower, the other side has a sink and toilet) as was common in the early 1960's. The large guest bedroom has a queen-size bed, two closets and it's own bathroom. Both bedrooms have flat-screen TVs and DVD players.
There are tile and hardwood floors throughout and WiFi is standard.
We are Paul and Jeancarlo, a married couple living in Dallas, Texas most of the time, but with a second home on Ft. Lauderdale Beach in Florida. Paul is a healthcare executive with a healthcare system in Dallas and Jeancarlo is in college, studying physical therapy. Paul enjoys jogging and reading and Jeancarlo enjoys weightlifting. We both like dining out in new and different places and spending time with our family and friends.
Paul Farrow purchased this condo in 2011
Location, location, location. We love art deco architecture and this area of Ft. Lauderdale Beach is full of it. Our condo has a heated swimming pool, workout room and shuffleboard court. The beach is 100 yards away. You can walk almost everywhere, but a car is recommended for excursions and going to the grocery store. There are great restaurants in Ft. Lauderdale, many of which are within walking distance.
Also nearby is the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, the 'birthplace' of Ft. Lauderdale. The water taxi is a short 4 block walk and it will take you to downtown Ft. Lauderdale's Las Olas Boulevard where the best restaurants and shopping can be found.
For same-sex couples, the Wilton Manors area of Ft. Lauderdale boasts many gay restaurants, clubs and bars.
Miami is 30-45 minutes away (depending on traffic) so you may want to consider a South Beach visit.
Because of the nicer furnishings and art in our apartment, children under the age of 18 are not permitted in the unit. We hope you understand.
Daily use of our car is available for $20.00 per day, pending verification of insurance.
We rented this apartment for two couples and it was the perfect size and location- one block to the beach. We felt like we were guests in someone's home! Paul was very professional and was with quick responses to emails, and the reservation process was worry free. I would highly recommend this apartment for a couples or family vacation. Five stars!
Our favorite location to date, the condo is less than a block from the beach and Paul provided great beach chairs and towels. Overall the area is quiet but all the action is nearby. The pool is quiet and clean. We were a little worried by all the renovations outside and in the hallways but once you open the condo door things were clean and quiet. Paul advised that the inside temperature was controlled by the building and we hesitated but with the blinds closed during the morning the condo was perfect and he has fans and heaters if needed. Slippers are helpful on the floors in this large condo. Beds were comfortable and the water pressure was great.
The condo is equipped with anything you can imagine and although the kitchen is small it is well stocked and we enjoyed cooking many of our meals onsite. We recommend the Beauty and the Feast in the Atlantic Hotel, the eggplant stack is fantastic. Trulucks is another great but higher end place to eat. If you can't afford. $60 steak at least go for happy hour where drinks and apps are half off.
This condo was perfect for our trip, beautiful view, very comfortable, one block to the beach. There was nothing that we could of needed that they didn't already have. We will definitely stay again in the future.
The condo was great & had everything you might want. The view of the ocean from the 2 bedrooms & living room was amazing. It was about a 3 minute walk to the beach witch was a block away. It was close to restaurants & all activities. My wife & I found two great restaurants with in 10 - 15 minutes away by car. The owners were great addressing any problems that you may have. We will be staying there again when we can get the time. Thanks Paul & Gail McHugh
We loved our stay here. Paul was more than helpful with any questions we had and easy to get a hold of. The apartment is the perfect location to the beach and many restaurants and bars. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
Ft. Lauderdale's North Beach area is the art deco center of the beach and home to many of the beach's exclusive high rise hotels and condominiums.
