Bayside apartment with pool

Great access to bay (outside of door)-small apartment but had all amenities with washer/dryer downstairs by pool.

Very clean and well kept. I would definitely stay here again.

Location was perfect!!

Location was so perfect - 5 minutes from Whitecap beach and good selection of other interest areas. However - property could use some updates. Shower is very very strong and can’t be adjusted. I know facility is ‘smoke-free,’ but it seems that someone smoked in the unit in the past. Lots of freshener used and the residual smell on my clothes seems to indicate smoking was an issue there in the past. Also some odd things are well - for example an ironing board was available, but no iron. Unit was spotlessly clean. Yes this is an older property - but I always felt safe and as said previously - the location was perfect. Despite the issues - I would book again.

Ideal Place for All-around Islanding

What a great little place Kim has on Padre Island. It was perfect for my solo fishing getaway. With the Packery Channel Jetty and Whitecap Beach being only 5 minutes away, Bob Hall Pier and Nueces County Park not much further, the National Seashore and Malaquite Beach less than 1/2 hour down Park Road 22, Longer should you decide to drive the beach. Flour Bluff and Corpus Christi just across the Laguna Madre over the Intracoastal Canal on the JFK Bridge with its fantastic bird's eye view of the entire area, everything is within that 1/2 hour drive. This to include grocery stores, mall, sporting goods and fishing supplies, restaurants of whatever food you wish.

If I felt like just kicking back on the beach I went to White Cap. But I was more interested in surf fishing so for that I'd head down to the National Seashore to avoid crowds. And that I did. I felt like Robinson Crusoe but with real fishing gear, a rental car, and without Friday. I had the beach practically all to myself, the gulls and the Turtle Patrol. When the wind got a little overwhelming on the Seashore I'd head back to the Sand Dollar, change out of my wet duds, and continue my fishing off the private pier into one of the inlets that comes off the Packery Channel. I really liked not even having to take an ice chest as I just moseyed over to the unit for another cold beverage.

The unit and the entire property is clean, well-maintained and quite cozy. Perfect for a couple just wanting to get away and enjoy the island. The unit and kitchen are well furnished, and the spacey walk-in shower was fantastic. The pool is maintained and area is well kept. The laundry has clean well-functioning machines. I loved being able to do my laundry while having a line in the water! Must say that was a first for me.

Also, less than 10 minutes away on Padre Island Drive/ Park Road 22 are all kinds of food places and souvenir shops, convenience stores with gas etc.

A lady in a little white van sets up on Whitecap Blvd. selling delicious real-thing hot tamales every day I was there. I strongly recommend them if you see her out there. The 'Good n Crisp Chicken' on the corner of S.P.I.D. and Hwy 361 lives up to its name The red beans and rice side order are some of the best around.

As I knew I'd want to come back to this place as soon as I walked through, checked out the pier, pool and property, and without even yet unpacking, I am giving Kim's place at the Sand Dollar a 5 STAR rating.

Clean Second floor unit is close short walk or drive to the beach. Schlitterbahn is a close drive. Many local restaurants on island near the condo. A short drive over the bridge takes you into town. 25 minute drive to downtown. Contact us for monthly rentals from September to May.
