House is fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for our family! Right on the beach but 5 mins from town, this house has it all. Easy walk to the lighthouse or the washout.

Exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't do the property justice. Relaxing vacation house.

First, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I could complain about little things, but they didn't affect our time there with a couple exceptions. The WiFi never did work for us. I didn't notify anyone, because we used our iDevices to access the Internet. I should have mentioned this before we left in all fairness.

My biggest complaint was the lighting. The light switches for lights that did work were in weird places -- often very far from the lights they operate. Some switches seemed to do nothing. The outside lights didn't seem to work at all except for the spotlights. However, the spots must be turned off after 10 PM, at least during part of the year because of turtles on the beach. The living and dining area was somewhat dark. The bulbs are too dim, and there aren't enough lights and lamps. The bedrooms and bathrooms were dim or lacking enough lights I thought. The washer and dryer are outside under the house. While this isn't any real problem by itself, there are no lights -- or at least that could get to light up. This is a security concern; though the area felt very safe in general. Safely navigating the stairs during the day requires care and more so at night; the stairs going up to the deck to the house are rather steep.

The location is secluded and quiet. The beach is great; step off the private deck onto the beach itself. The house was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked though the knives are very dull. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of additional pillows blankets and towels. There were enough cleaning supplies and a working vacuum cleaner; this place is literally right on the beach -- there's a lot of sand. The place is decorated in a sort of whimsical 'beachy' way with some clever little touches. This place definitely does not have the sterile condo-like look. The living and dining area is large with plenty of seating. The view from the living room to the ocean was spectacular.

The deck was amazing. I loved sitting there on the rocking chairs and getting some sun in the ocean breeze. Sitting out there in the morning before the sun made me want to get up early the next day. Sitting out there at night looking out over the water listening to the waves and looking up at the stars...if that doesn't relax you, I don't know what will. The view and the deck made our vacation.

We love the Charleston and the area. There is so much to see and do, and so much history.

Dealing with Chris was easy and a friendly experience.

Just what I wanted for my family!

  • 5 of 5

I love an old beach house! Plenty of parking! Exceptionally stocked kitchen, the only thing missing was a crock pot! Once the AC was fixed, it was very cool! More linens than we needed! What a great surprise to not need to carry up hand soap, detergent, paper products, etc. Comfortable furniture! The view of that strawberry moon from the deck was breathtaking! Easy check in and out. Rocking chairs on the deck and plastic chairs to carry down the steps to the beach! You will need to pick up a propane tank for the grill. Be sure to enjoy the short walk to view a local treasure, the Morris Island Lighthouse! My friend who came to visit, may want to rent it next spring! I hope to get back here again!

First beach house rental and trip to Folly

  • 5 of 5

As with any new adventure I was worried about the details and accommodations. Mr.Holmes was a pleasure to rent from and we all loved the property. Our large family of five and another family of three stayed very comfortable in this well laid out home. It's on the quiet end of the beach and the porch is amazing!! They had everything and anything that you would need in the house. A short walk to the pier for amazing sunrises early in the morning and dolphin viewing. The house is not fancy and could use some updates, but for the money and location it was unbeatable!! Going back for two weeks next summer.

The porch sells this property

  • 5 of 5

This is an excellent beach front house for any type getaway. It's not fancy, but it's functional and clean with all you need to make your stay enjoyable. Five, good friends(males,we called it the medicare trip) chose this property as a place to just get away and relax and enjoy good company, and that we did. Sat on the massive wrap around porch every day after breakfast( The Lost Dog Cafe each morning) and a stop at Bert's grocery for a paper and beer, until the sun got too hot. There were only about two hours a day when you couldn't find shade on one side or the other. Down the steps onto the beach at low tide or into the water at high tide.We had this stretch of beach to ourselves but could watch surfers down the beach a bit most of the day. Bedrooms were, one full, one full and two twins and of course two couches, one which makes a sleeper, which we didn't pull out because springs were loose at one end. Two bathrooms, which was not a problem. Big kitchen area and huge living room with cable TV, DVD, and stereo.

This house is on the lighthouse end of the island, 3 miles from main drag where shops, restaurants and bars were. Great value for the price. Thinking about renting it again next year,

Folly Visit

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I were delighted to find this rustic beach house waiting for us during a recent stay. The owner is very accommodating and made it easy to reserve the home. The home has a nice living room overlooking the beach. The Kitchen/Dining combo offers a nice big table for meals and a well stocked kitchen for preparation. The home had comfortable beds (1 queen, 1 full and 2 twin beds as well as 2 comfy sofas.) The location was a quiet part of the beach. The home was clean, except for the garage which was no big deal. Since it is open, it tends to catch sand and dust. I would definitely recommend this property if you enjoy the basics for reasonable money. This is the first home that I have been able to enjoy RIGHT on the BEACH, so it was HEAVEN for me. We were able to surf fish and enjoy the local restaurants and the Taste of Charleston event. Truly a memorable experience. Hopefully we are headed back this September!
