Notes:
Lake Elmore is small town Vermont, a vanishing breed. It is home to the last one room school house in Vermont, which describes the sort of country experience you are in for. But it is close to Stowe. which has all the top end features you expect in a resort town if you wish to experience that too. We do, especially the restaurants. Lake Elmore is called the beauty spot of Vermont and you will find a visit well worth your time.

A truly magical White Christmas

  • 5 of 5

Our stay on Lake Elmore was everything we expected for a family from Australia of 7 adults who wanted a White Christmas. We had plenty of room for all of us, the house was warm and cosy and had all the facilities that we needed.

Jack was extremely helpful and responded quickly to any queries, the neighbours were also very helpful, all making us feel very welcome. The Lake Elmore Store has a good stock of supplies, we purchased a great steak for one nights dinner and the Elmore bread is delicious.

The house was so cosy that we didn't want to venture out some days, and the views are fantastic. The Lake was frozen and changed is appearance everyday which made for some wonderful photos.

We highly recommend the house it will be one of our fondest memories of our holiday. There was only on problem, we had to leave.

Thanks again Jack and family for welcoming us into you holiday home.

Lovely home on the Lake!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented Bywater with another family. Between us there were four kids ages 5 and under and four adults. There was plenty of room in the house to accommodate all of us, and we had everything we needed in terms of linens, towels, cooking supplies and space. There was even a fire pit that we used to make S'mores! The kids especially enjoyed the lake and the small beach area was perfect for the little ones. However, it would also be a great house to rent with out children. We took advantage of having access to the canoe and spent time paddling around the lake. Jack and Patty were wonderful hosts, meeting us at the property and showing us around before they left. They left us a welcome basket with some VT maple syrup, a bottle of wine and some pasta that we immediately fed to the kids. We didn't speak to them while we were there, but felt we could reach out if any problem were to arise. The location is quite convenient and we were able to head to Stowe, Waterbury, Smugglers Notch, Cabot and other wonderful VT locations very easily. The WiFi was also very reliable. Above all, the lake is absolutely beautiful! If we head up for another VT action this will be where we stay!

A perfect Vermont getaway

  • 5 of 5

We found this to be a beautiful, welcoming, well-cared for home in a great location. Located right on Elmore, with gorgeous views across the lake to the mountain, there was something for everyone in our group. We swam, kayaked, and hiked right from the house. Groups of us would wander down the road to the country store and come back with local produce, fresh baked muffins, and amazing bread. The kitchen had everything we needed to make large meals, and the dining room table seated us all comfortably. The rooms are large and airy and offer lots of flexibility, so our mixed group of children, teenagers, and adults all found sleeping arrangements that worked, and enough privacy so that we didn’t drive each other crazy. We used the yard for corn hole, badminton, and campfires. Stowe and Montpelier are both easy drives away, with Burlington just a bit further, so there was always something to do, no matter the weather. We’ll be back!

Beautiful Home with Great Views

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful home that lived up to all expectations. My family and I had a lovely time and will look back on this as one of the best vacations we've had. The last few days were very hot so an air conditioner would have been nice, but it was still a great experience, I highly recommend renting this home!

Heavenly Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this location in late June of 2016. The views were even better than expected. We were two families with three kids and four adults. The house is advertised as a four bedroom but there is a 3 season porch that has a twin bed so technically the house is four bedroom. the master closet is also big enough to fit a pack n play if you're so inclined. The basement is concrete with rugs scattered throughout so I didn't have to be worried about the kids tracking water and grass in from the lake. The kitchen is BEYOND well stocked. We brought spices and oil and grill utensils expecting to need those items but there was PLENTY of the necessities. The welcome basket included little snacks and a package of pasta which worked out perfectly for our first night there with the kiddos. Check in time is stated as 4 but Jack told us to come when we could. There are five bikes and helmets on the property as well as a paddle boat, canoe, camp chairs, and tons of lawn games. Looking at the photos we were expecting that the lake would come right up to a small drop off with no beach area BUT we were surprised to find a small sandy beach area on the edge of the property that was about five feet long and shallow for several feet into the lake. Basically a toddler DREAM area, lots of safe water area with sticks and snails and rocks to explore. The water was warm and refreshing. The owner Jack was helpful and very responsive to any questions we had. The only critiques we have are the mattresses in the upstairs bedrooms are horrid and we felt bad for our children sleeping on them. The door latches, while ascetically pleasing are actually a pain and took too long to get latched right and made a tremendous amount of noise at night.

We went to the nearby Elmore state park and did a cool .5 mile loop. We drove into Stowe one night and ate at the Bench which was delicious. The poutine and Salmon tacos are NOT to be missed. Plenty of nearby beer and cheese from local stores. The walk along camp road is picture perfect and gives you a chance to interact with the neighbors and maybe even meet Bokoo who is the sweetest little black lab. We hope to stay here again in the fall with the fall colors lighting up the surrounding mountains and hopefully in the winter since Stowe is nearby!

very special weekend

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had enjoyed the most magical anniversary at this beautiful home. We wanted to spend the weekend at the lake we got married at and we could not have asked for any better accommodations. The lakeside access, views and well equipped home was all topnotch! We enjoyed kayaking, relaxing on the dock/lake and a wonderful hike up Mt. Elmore. Easy drives to Stowe, Morrisville and Montpelier makes for a great location. We would fully recommend this home to others and look forward to coming back!

Lake Elmore
Car: necessary

Lake Elmore is Vermont the way it used to be. In the summer you can hear the sound of a screen door closing. In foliage season the views are incredible. And we are close to Stowe, the Ski capital of the East, without Stowe prices or traffic. In the summer, swim, fish, boat, hike, have campfires all on a private wooded lot on the lake. In the fall, foliage and harvest suppers. In the spring it's maple syrup time. And in the winter, we have access to the VAST snowmobile trails on the lake, crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing on the lake and in the state park, plus all the Stowe resorts have to offer.

We are on the edge of the Northeast Kingdom, with it's rustic scenery. And we are located in North Central Vermont, 45 minutes from Burlington and 30 minutes from Montpelier.

We are 200 miles from Boston and 100 miles from Montreal.
