Everything advertised and more.....

We celebrated my nephew's 21st birthday at this property for a three day weekend. Total guests were 9 plus three English Bulldogs. The owner/manager requires direct contact before confirming a booking... totally understandable with a property of this caliber. I also inquired ahead of time about my three bulldogs... just to make sure my canine kids would be welcome. As advertised... there is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath main house and two kitchenette cottages with full baths. I really enjoyed my cottage with wood burning stove (and the luxury of a little private time away from family). The property is in a populated area however all homes are sizable with plenty of land so you don't feel right on top of the neighbors. There is 5 parking spaces with a fenced yard that surrounds one side of the main residence and both cottages. This was ideal for the dogs. The main house is incredible with great room (open kitchen, massive dining and stone fireplace living room with a wall of windows with views that take your breath away). Several deck spaces from the great room (one with hot tub) lead down to the private beach. I met several neighbors who were lovely. This property is less than a 10 min drive to the Tahoe casinos and nightlife... 5 min to Safeway. The furnishings and amenities were all in good condition. It's obvious this home is well cared for.... It was a privilege to have stay here. I highly recommend this property for a family or group gathering of no more than 12 people (overnight). This would be an incredible special event place... my only hesitation would be to be respectful of the neighbors. There is plenty of opportunity for BBQ's, water sports and outdoor fun.... I would just keep the music and overall noise to a respectable level.... again the neighbors were lovely and deserve vacationing neighbors that are equally respectful of this very special place.

Fantastic Views & Location and Plenty of Space!

We had a wonderful time in Tahoe for our kids' Fall Break and a family wedding in the area. The house fit our needs perfectly with 7 guests (4 adults & 3 kids). My wife and I and our 3 kids stayed in the main house, my parents in the cabin(s).

The location is great - near South Lake Tahoe (about a 10 min drive), but not too close to all that craziness. The house is tucked in a very private little strip of homes that are all directly on the lake or one house removed. A little tough to find at first, but the privacy and quiet surroundings were well worth it. The views from the big windows on the lake side of the house and the decks were absolutely unbelievable! To me, that is why you visit Tahoe - to soak in all that natural beauty, and there is no shortage of that in this area! Also, the house is a short drive to Heavenly, which was unfortunately closed during this between-season period. Not to worry, there was still plenty to do with the kids and/or just adults. We went hiking, biking, zip lining, horseback riding, sunset boat ride, grabbed a few decent meals and had a great time just admiring the lake and mountains.

The house itself is very charming - in a good way. Very functional first floor with big open kitchen and family room. Had all the normal appliances, pots/pans, silverware/dishes, etc that one would expect and some extras that one wouldn't. The 3 upstairs bedrooms were perfect for our family. 2 bedrooms with kings, and one bedroom with 2 twins. The only negative that you might consider is that they are all very close together and all share one bathroom, but it wasn't that big of a deal considering our kids are still young, but it might not be ideal for a large group of adults.

The 2 cabins were definitely cozy! A little small, but essentially they are just extra bedrooms, albeit pretty small bedrooms. But they each have a small kitchenette/bathroom and a little sitting area. My parents actually each slept in a separate cabin because we had the extra space and they felt a bit cramped in one. They are definitely functional, but not a lot of room to to stretch out - think of them as detached bedrooms.

Overall I would give it 4.5 stars if I could! The views and location were amazing! The kitchen was fantastic and had been recently redone. The rest of the house was showing it age in certain places, but was clean and functional. Go for it, you won't be disappointed!

Amazing views!

We all had a wonderful time at this property. There were 5 couples and plenty of room for all. The cabins were comfortable but the double bed cabin was a bit tight for one of the couples. We would definitely stay here again if available.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gruener Baum Lakefront House. The house has an amazing view, very clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking. One of the best rentals that we've ever stayed. Would definitely rent again next time we're Tahoe.
