A vacation to remember!
My husband and I stayed at this lovely home for a month while visiting family in the area. Gilbert and Gilda were a pleasure to deal with and they made the transaction effortless. The home is in a very quiet neighborhood and it is a great area for leisurely walks up and down the hills and to the nearby beach. The inside of the property is tastefully decorated, clean, and well stocked for lengthy stays. Our family came for dinner on several occasions and were very impressed with the home and the surrounding area. The views of Plum Island, the Atlantic Ocean, and sunrises were simply breathtaking and sometimes it was difficult to leave the comfort and beauty of the home to travel around the area. We feel very fortunate that Gilbert and Gilda allowed us the pleasure of staying at their home and they went out of their way to make our stay memorable. In fact, they had supplies there for our first dinner and champagne to toast our arrival, in addition to fresh flowers and a pumpkin on the porch. We had such a wonderful time at the home and the charming town of Ipswich, that we found it difficult to leave. Gilbert's suggestion of joining the nearby YMCA was helpful and we enjoyed a dinner at his favorite restaurant, The Choate Bridge Pub. When we return to the east coast, this home will be on the top of our list! Thank you so much for making our visit with our family memorable, Gilbert and Gilda.
Heavenly two months in a previously unknown area.
We wanted to be on the water but close to Boston for a big family event, we have a dog who travels with us and could find nothing on the south shore who would take our dog so I turned to the north shore and I found this lovely home willing to take our dog. When we arrived we were surprised to find the house to be even better than described. The garden was in full bloom and the house just lovely, incredible views wherever you look, I found myself taking my camera to bed with me so I could wake up and photograph sunrise from my bed. We watched for the deer who visited in the meadow and snack on crab apples, couple of times she brought her fawns. The house is very architecturally interesting, you notice new things every day. The owners were very nice and easy to deal with. We had a lot of company as my husband is from Boston. Everyone would come in and politely mumble something like nice place and as they were there longer someone would suddenly say, "Hey, This is a great house, did you notice; The door, the ceilings, the view of something." Always something. We called it the magical House and had a truly great time.
This was a fabulous home with a view. Our view of the ocean and stars made getting out of bed difficult; and the steam shower was heavenly. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the area and the great number of restaurants nearby. We didn't have any problems during our month long stay, visiting Boston for several events and shopping.
Can't recommend this property enough. We stayed for two weeks in August and will hopefully be back again! Beautiful New England suburb full of charm and history, great swimming at the nearby private beach, and good fishing near the estuary mouth- the owner told us where to rent a small boat and we caught some nice bluefish! Plenty of striped bass around too during the right time of year. The views from the master bedroom upstairs are to die for, and the house warm and well appointed.
The owner was very easy and pleasant to deal with. The dishwasher had a minor leak halfway through our stay, but the owner had this seen to almost immediately and quickly fixed.
Plenty to see in the area provided you have a car. Overall, a great little gem.
Great neck, ipswich, ma - start your day watching the sun rise out of the atlantic ocean. Enjoy your morning coffee overlooking plum island sound and the ocean or sitting in the professionally landscaped front garden. Walk to private clarke beach; cycle around cape ann or to near-by crane beach; bird watch over the great marsh, where it is said that every bird species in north america will migrate through at some point throughout the year; dig for famous ipswich steamer clams in your own neighborhood; go antiquing in any of the abundance of quaint shoppes in a town known to have more antique homes on their original foundations than any other town in the country; or cruise into town for a wonderful meal. End your fun filled day with a cocktail on one of two decks overlooking the sails boats and all the activity of plum island sound, then catch the moon rise over cape ann - a beautiful sight indeed. This property has everything you need and more importantly, everything you don't!
