About the property

Beautiful Victorian Private Home in the heart of San Francisco

Comfortably furnished restored Victorian home with 2 car garage perfect for a family or two couples. Walking distance to fine restaurants, cafes, Golden Gate Park, major bus lines and clubs. Shopping (Bi-Rite and Faletti's grocery) bakery, and farmer's markets are just two short blocks away. The house comes completely furnished with all the comforts of home. Basement (street level) contains a 2 car tandem garage and laundry with large washer and dryer. On the first floor there is a large living room with a Steinway Piano (in tune) and compete audio video set up with high-speed wireless internet. The large formal dining room can seat from 6 to 12. The very large gourmet chef's kitchen has high ceilings with an eating area and office space. Large clerestory windows look out onto a terraced private garden. There is a half bath off the kitchen entry. On the second floor is a completely remodeled full bath with glass shower and separate tub. The master suite has a sleeping alcove with a queen size bed, walk in closet and large sitting area. The Bay window in the sitting area is a perfect place to relax, escape and read a book. The second bedroom has a double bed, small writing desk, dresser and closet. The third room is used as an office but has a day bed which can be opened to sleep two. The house is quiet with all the charm of Victorian San Francisco without being stuffy. It has great access to downtown via public transportation, cable cars, parks, museums, and an easy bike ride to the ocean. It's only a short walk to the Haight Ashbury. For baseball fans there is AT&T park on the Embarcadero with our World Champion SanFrancisco Giants.

Superb location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with 3 friends in this house. The owners are more than kind and helpful. We choose the house for location, because it has 3 bedrooms, a garage and the pics. In real it is fabulous in every way!! The house is very well kept. The rooms are more than nice. The kitchen is super, it's like being in a greenhouse without the atmosphere! A great advantage is the garage if you have a (rental) car. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The neighborhood is very nice too with lots of nice shops and decent grocers. Walking distance from Market/Castro with on the way splendid view over downtown. If you rent this house with a couple of friend is it a much better 'investment' than a couple hotel rooms with loads of space. I really recommend this property. I certainly want to be back there!!

One of the highlights of our trip to SF!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 all agreed that the house was one of the highlights of our spring break in San Francisco. It is spacious, comfortable, clean, and centrally located, and it ranks as the best of the VRBO homes we have rented over the years (there have been at least 5 others, all good to excellent). The photos don't do it justice. The Steinway baby grand piano was a hit with our 2 kids who both take lessons back home. Who would have thought they would enjoy practicing so much on vacation! There is a very large doll house that our 11-year old daughter enjoyed playing with. The owners met us upon arrival and gave us a thorough explanation of everything we would need to enjoy our stay, and there is also a thoughtful notebook full of local restaurant menus, maps, etc. The full-sized washer and dryer allowed us to travel light. The neighborhood is safe, and the house is a block and a half away from a busier street with a bus stop, restaurants, and a couple of really nice small groceries. We will recommend staying here to anyone we know going to San Francisco!

Beautiful house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This house was absolutely perfect for our stay! It is very spacious and has been furnished to a very high standard. The kitchen is really well equipped which enabled us to cook for ourselves; there is a store a couple of minutes walk away which sells great food! The garage was great and came in very useful for maintaining our bike! Tom and Susan Munn are extremely helpful and were a pleasure to rent off!

A Quiet Haven in Bustling San Fran

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Tom and Susan's beautiful home. The house itself is really quiet given that it's located in a vibrant city and the city garden out the back is peaceful. We sat and watched the hummingbirds over breakfast. There's loads of restaurants and cafes nearby that you can walk to if you don't want to venture too far. There are some fantastic food stores in the area, which are a foodies dream. We loved the information pack which Tom and Susan prepared for guests, it was really helpful. We had a hire car so we didn't end up taking public transport but I believe it's pretty well connected from a public transport perspective. We will definitely come back if we are visiting San Francisco and would highly recommend this lovely Victorian home.

Great find in San Francisco!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really loved the house. It was so nice to stay in a neighborhood a bit away from the crazy tourist area of the city. You really get a sense of the day-to-day SF, not just the Warf area. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed. The local market and restaurants are really great as well, and we rode the busses all over---much better than fighting the parking challenge downtown.

Tom and Susan are excellent hosts, and we would certainly stay again.

elegant, convenient, and ideal location

  • 5 of 5

I didn't rent this for myself, but for my wife's family. But, I was there long enough to be impressed.

There's plenty of space if you want to fill it up to 6. The dining room is elegant, and the kitchen has lots of light for a comfortable breakfast. The living room is comfortable and gets lots of light (even though it's on the opposite side of the house from the kitchen).

It's a great neighborhood. The Mill is one of my favorite coffee places, and you should get your Josey Baker bread here. Don't miss out on Bi-Rite (and their ice cream!). So many restaurants in the area too! The 21 is right there to take you downtown or to Hayes Valley if you run out of Nopa restaurants to try out.
