Overview

About the property

4 bedrooms in a large two story open planned house with an amazing porch.

This is our vacation home as well - it is well equipped for us to spend a few weeks each year with as many as 2 additional families. It has enough beds to sleep 8-9 folks comfortably with three bathrooms, laundry, and a large kitchen to make you feel as comfortable as we do. The view must be seen to be believed as it is one of the best in the area. There is a fire pit out back to enjoy toasting marshmallows as the sun sets and the air cools to let the stars out.

About Adam Besch-Turner

We are a family of 5 (three young ones) that lives in queens that needs to be away from NYC as often as possible. This is my children's favorite place in the world right now - the house, the hill it is on, the hiking, small town friendliness, and other adventures make this their top pick for places to go as a family. So we do - as often as possible we take the house for ourselves....

Adam Besch-Turner purchased this house in 2009

Why Adam Besch-Turner chose Central Leatherstocking

The view took our breath away initially - then the house itself won us over. It is set up to enjoy but feel elegant. It is spacious and open and invites conversation with friends and long slow meals - it is country living done right and we adore it.

What makes this house unique

We came to Cooperstown when my first was an infant and fell in love with the town - once we realized how many things there were to enjoy in the area we decided to find a place for ourselves. We cannot fully utilize the property - so renting it when we are not there makes great sense. We have professional cleaners turn the house around in about 5 hours every Friday to insure that you get a pristine property to enjoy with your family.

Our home is one of two on top of the hill providing ample privacy and amazing views. Walking the surrounding roads is wonderful. The house is also only 10 miles from Dreams Park for summer tournaments or 5 miles from the Baseball Hall of Fame. Our stays never miss: Coffee from the Stagecoach Café, breakfast from The Doubleday Café, Dinner from Alex and Ika, and Cider from the Fly Creek Cider Mill. The whole family can spend hours at the Farmer's Museum, and the local Farmer's Market is amazing. Plan a longer trip to get out to the Brewery Ommegang for some amazing Belgian Ales and delicious food at their new restaurant. Many other adventures are to be found - check the local schedule to see what concert you can catch or take the day and get on the lake on a rented boat.

Everything you need and very comfortable

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Cooperstown and staying at this house. The house was so open and comfortable- room for everyone and everything you need. I thought not having wifi would be a problem, but being "unplugged" for the week meant more conversations and playing cards!

Beautiful home with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We shared this home with two other families the week our boys played at Cooperstown. It was spacious, updated, clean and modern, and there was plenty of room for the parents and siblings who stayed there. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed to prepare meals. Every morning we went for long walk and enjoyed the quiet country roads, and at night made s'mores at the fire pit and watched the shooting stars from the huge porch. Daytime views of sunrise coming over the lake were spectacular, and on our last night saw a double rainbow. It was a easy 20 minute ride to the ball fields. Adam was very responsive to our questions, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful home to anyone looking to stay in the Cooperstown area.

Great Home with a Great view

  • 3 of 5

So the house was settled on a lush green landscape the most amazing view of the lake.

A few notes to add when renting if your in need of internet and cell access this is not the place to go there is zero reception here unless you have a Verizon wireless/ internet and even then its very slow. This was a major setback since we needed to be in touch.

Lots of room. Kitchen has pretty much everything you could ask for a little over due on the pots/ pans.

Basement area was very musty smelling but spacious.

TV in the upstairs family area a must but does not exist.

Otherwise this was a great home.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed the house. Yes - it is Verizon or nothing on the hill - I am sure it will get better in time... I appreciate the feedback on the pots and pans - I'll give them a reset this winter.

Beautiful view and great space

  • 4 of 5

The view was beautiful and the windows taking in the sunlight was wonderful indoors. Great kitchen and family space. The only reason this is not 5 stars is the lack of wifi. I knew that going in, but didn't realize we would also be out of service on AT&T cellular. Thankfully the grandparents had Verizon which did have service so they received baseball game updates with the rain delays, etc.

The kitchen was great for cooking for the group of eight! Thank you for sharing your home!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the almost 5 star review - I am glad you enjoyed my home. The upstairs is all about easy kitchen use for large groups - we use it the same way and enjoy it every time. Sorry about the internet - there really are no good solutions to it right now - but I do keep checking. -Adam
