Comfortable, spacious house with beautiful views, minutes from Lexington

  • 5 of 5

This charming house has lots of character and plenty of places to spread out. We had 6 adults and did not feel cramped at all. It is very well equipped with everything you need and is situated on a nice piece of land that has gorgeous views. It's very peaceful and quiet, yet close to town. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Great spot for a weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed with another VMI family for parents' weekend and it was the perfect spot: roomy, comfortable and pretty views! Very close to historic Lexington as well as shopping and highway.

Fantastic views!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Tucked Away over a long weekend in July for a family wedding. We were 4 couples and an infant.

The place worked out perfectly for what we needed. Really close to town with plenty of outside space for cousins to romp, and lovely western views over rolling hayfields. Kitchen was very well-equipped - we had other family over for a Sunday brunch, and it was a breeze to prepare and serve. The air conditioning kept up with the high-90s heat wave that hit. With a little one spending most of his time crawling about on the floor, I was hyper-aware of anything that hit the floor or collected in corners, and so made use of the vacuum cleaner - one of many household creature comforts we were happy to find.

The owners live nearby, so were readily accessible throughout our stay.

Pleasant, Comfortable House in a Lovely Setting

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four adults and a toddler enjoyed our recent holiday stay at this property. The house proved much more spacious than the photos might suggest. The sunroom (which served as a fourth bedroom) and living room provided two common areas for hanging out, the well equipped kitchen facilitated having most meals at the house, and the private, pastoral setting (complete with cows and deer!) was a peaceful milieu. We enjoyed shopping and dining (Southern Inn, Red Inn, Bistro on Main, and coffee shops) in the nearby charming historic district. The exceedingly helpful landlord even offered to pick up our Thanksgiving dinner from a local grocery if we were unable to arrive before its closing. We look forward to returning.

Roomy house with breathtaking views

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed here twice so far. The size of the house and yard is incredible. our family of 4 fit with plenty of room to spare. Our 3 year old had a blast making piles and crunching in the fallen leaves while looking out over the Autumn mountain view. Very secluded feeling yet close enough to the town that you can zip over for eating or entertainment. Bruce was very accommodating and willing to help with whatever we needed. The only downside is that the house has a musky/old smell to it that was hard for me to get past, but we lit candles that were provided and that did help along with spending a lot of time outdoors. We will definitely stay again as it was affordable and good location for our needs.

More than promised.

  • 5 of 5

A great space for a 4-generation vacation. Plenty of kitchen equipment, great counter space for our traditional pancake and bacon brunch. My 88 year old mother enjoyed the vast array of books available. She read 3 in 5 days. The screened porch was a wonderful gathering space. We all enjoyed the fantastic sunset views of the beautiful Virginia mountains. Boxwood is a true gem too. Hope we can come back next year. Our stay was too short. We don't feel like we scratched the surface of things to b see in the area .
